Pulling out a notepad from her bag, Bianca tore off a sheet and wrote down her phone number. She handed it to him, saying, “If you need help, don’t hesitate to contact me.”
With that, Bianca walked away, smiling to herself, leaving the man puzzled.
The night before her company’s grand opening, Bianca had her lawyer send Peter a document to end their father-daughter relationship legally. She also included an invitation to the event.
Meanwhile, at the Scotts’ home, Peter slammed the document on the table in anger. He had been hospitalized recently due to his frustration with Bianca, and now he was furious again.
“A grand opening? I’m not interested in going,” Peter declared, ready to crumple the invitation, but Stacey intervened.
“Peter, calm down. She’s inviting us. It wouldn’t look good if we didn’t go. Let’s attend and see what she’s done with her company. If it’s successful, it reflects positively on you,” Stacey said, though her true motives were different.
She planned to use the grand opening to expose how Bianca had cut ties with her own father to start a company, which Stacey saw as disrespectful.
Stacey believed this revelation could cause negative reactions from the attendees and harm Bianca’s company’s future.
Upon hearing Stacey’s idea, Peter’s expression softened. He thought for a moment and then agreed, “Okay. I’m curious to see how she runs her business.”
That evening, Bianca relaxed on her sofa, going through documents for the next day. The guest list and arrangements with Eastview Television Network for coverage were all set. Tomorrow promised to be a significant day for her company’s opening.
Suddenly, her phone rang cheerfully. Bianca picked up and said, “Hello.”
“Hello, is this Miss Bianca Scott?”
“Yes, speaking. Who is this?”
“This is the producer from Eastview Television Network. I regret to inform you that we won’t be able to cover your company’s opening ceremony tomorrow.”
Bianca sat up straight on the sofa upon hearing this. “Why not?”
“The reason is that Natalie King is hosting a major fan event next to your company tomorrow. Our executives have decided to prioritize coverage of her event. I apologize for any inconvenience.”
Natalie had never organized a big fan event before. Strangely, she picked the same day as Bianca’s opening and a spot near her company. She even got Eastview Television Network to cover it exclusively.
It felt like a deliberate move against Bianca.
“But I was the first to talk about this with you. Doesn’t ‘first come, first served’ apply?” Bianca asked, trying to stay calm.
“I’m sorry, but this decision comes from above me. I can’t change it. I just called to tell you. If there’s nothing else, I have to go. Goodbye.”
The producer hung up abruptly, leaving Bianca feeling angry and frustrated.
She knew someone was trying to undermine her plans.
But there was no time to dwell on frustration or anger. The priority now was to find another TV network to cover her event.
After quickly changing in her bedroom, Bianca grabbed her keys and headed for the door. Just then, Dave opened it.
He noticed Bianca was about to leave in a rush.
“Why are you heading out so late?” Dave asked, standing in the doorway and blocking her path.
Bianca sighed and told Dave that Eastview Television Network had backed out.
“I don’t want you to go through this alone. I’ll come with you,” Dave said, holding her hand and stepping outside without hesitation.
Bianca didn’t object. His presence brought comfort, and she felt comforted with him beside her.
Together, they visited several broadcasting companies, but the schedules of the larger ones were already full for the next day. The smaller ones couldn’t offer the exposure she needed.
With each rejection, Bianca’s expression grew more tense. She persisted, methodically noting each visit in her notebook before moving on to the next company.
When they called a taxi for the fifth time, Dave gently took Bianca’s wrist.
“I’m starting to worry this might not work out. Let me ask my boss for help. How about this? I’ll give him a call and see if he can assist us.”
Dave had been considering helping Bianca for some time but had hesitated, concerned about revealing too much. That’s why he had joined her on visits to multiple broadcasting companies.
Seeing Bianca’s confidence fading, Dave sensed it was time to intervene.
“It doesn’t feel right to bother your boss this late,” Bianca hesitated. “You’ve already been asking him favors on my behalf. What if he starts to think less of you?”
“Don’t worry about that. He’s really supportive of his team,” Dave reassured her, looking into her concerned eyes. He reached out and gently pinched her cheek. “Stay positive. Worst-case scenario, I’ll have to work harder for him.”
Despite Bianca’s hesitation to involve Dave’s boss, the situation left her with no other option.
The success of the upcoming opening ceremony depended heavily on media coverage, which is crucial for gaining attention and boosting the company’s profile.
Bianca agreed with the plan and nodded as Dave dialed a number in front of her.
When the call connected, Bianca listened as Dave said, “Boss, it’s Dave.”
Hearing Dave’s voice startled Zane, almost causing his heart to skip a beat.
‘Goodness! How could his boss call him boss?’ Zane exclaimed mentally.
“Here’s the situation…” Dave explained Bianca’s problem in detail, and soon Zane understood what his boss’s intention was.
“Okay, I understand,” Zane replied quietly, worried that Bianca might overhear while standing next to Dave.
After ending the call, Dave turned to Bianca with a smile. “Let’s head back. My boss said he’ll help out. We should hear some good news soon.”
Bianca breathed a sigh of relief as she watched Dave talk to his boss on the phone.
“Your boss has been incredibly helpful. I’m truly grateful,” Bianca said, though her lips pursed slightly, hinting at a flicker of guilt.
Dave gently held her shoulder and leaned in, locking eyes with her. “It was my help that made the difference, yet you’re thinking of thanking him. I might get jealous,” he teased.
She chuckled softly. “Why do you get jealous so easily?”
Dave raised an eyebrow, smiling playfully. “What can I say? I hope you only have me in your heart.”
Her fingers curled around his neck as she leaned closer, kissing his lips tenderly and looking into his eyes. “In my heart, there has only ever been you,” she confessed.
Dave pulled Bianca closer by her waist. “So, have you become a master at flirting now?”
Bianca quoted with a playful smile, “He who lies down with dogs shall rise up with fleas. I’ve picked up a few tricks from a rather mischievous someone.”
