Dave’s eyes stayed on the emergency room, where a steady red light glowed.
Zane had a moment of insight, realizing just how much Dave cared for Bianca.
Dave had swiftly mobilized military resources to locate Bianca with impressive speed.
Although Zane had joined Dave’s service later on, he knew some details about Dave’s family history.
Dave’s father, the eldest son of the Evans family, was groomed from a young age to inherit the Evans Group’s empire. However, he chose a different path, driven by his love for Dave’s mother. This decision went against his father Lucas’s desires. Eventually, Dave’s father left the family business, a choice that tragically led to his early death in an accident.
Dave had been forbidden from getting involved with girls, and those close to him often disappeared without a trace.
That’s why Zane understood why Dave hid his identity from Bianca.
But Zane secretly believed Dave’s interest in Bianca would fade soon, though now he worriedly watched Dave.
Lucas, despite his age, still held sway over the Evans Group. No one dared defy Lucas, whether in the Evans Group or at Edenfield Hospital.
‘What would happen to Dave if Lucas found out he loved Bianca?’
‘Would Bianca disappear like the other girls before her?’
Zane tightened his lips. To avoid this outcome, he was determined to keep his boss’s secret safe.
Bianca started to regain consciousness. She opened her eyes slowly and saw a clean white ceiling above her.
Turning her head, she spotted the man sitting at the edge of the bed. Her left hand was held gently in his, his warmth spreading through her fingers.
“Mr. Evans…” Bianca softly said Dave’s name. His body jerked slightly, lifting his head quickly.
“Hey, Bianca.” Weariness marked Dave’s handsome face. There was a flicker of surprise in his reddened eyes. “Are you feeling any discomfort? Are you still in pain?”
Bianca shifted a bit. Her limbs were sore, but the pain had eased.
She touched her forehead, finding the wound neatly bandaged.
“It doesn’t hurt anymore.”
Dave relaxed as color returned to Bianca’s pale face.
“Are you hungry? Do you need something to eat? You must be thirsty after sleeping so long. I’ll get you some water.”
Dave’s gentle, husky voice sounded close to Bianca’s ears. As he started to get up, a slender hand grabbed his wrist.
Turning back, he met her firm gaze. She spoke softly. “Don’t leave…”
He settled back down, holding her hand and nodding gently. “Okay, I won’t leave. I’ll stay with you.”
A faint smile appeared on her tired face. She glanced at him, her eyelashes fluttering. “How did you… find me today?”
Holding her cold fingers, he said in a low, hoarse voice. “I was frantic when I couldn’t locate you. I had to involve the authorities. They tracked your phone to an alley and followed the trail, eventually locating you. It took time, especially since you were on the sea.”
Dave pulled out his phone from his pocket and handed it to Bianca.
She took her phone and looked up at him, her pale lips curling slightly. “You acted quickly. I was afraid I wouldn’t make it through tonight…”
“That wasn’t an option.” He kissed her soft hand gently. “I promised myself I would find you first, no matter the risk.”
His face bore several days’ stubble, making it slightly itchy.
Usually neat and well-groomed, he had forgotten to shave due to his worry for her.
Suddenly, she found it difficult to stay angry with him.
“Bianca, come back home with me,” he pleaded softly, locking his gaze with hers.
“You haven’t said sorry for doubting and following me earlier,” she pouted, studying his handsome face. “How can I forgive you and go home if you don’t apologize?”
His dark pupils widened slightly. So, she had been waiting for an apology? He had been thinking of ways to calm her down and avoid making her angry, but he hadn’t said a word of regret… He felt so foolish.
“Bianca, just give me a moment.” With that, Dave stood up and left the room.
Bianca stared blankly at the tall, straight figure of the man, a displeased frown on her face. Why did he run away when it came to saying sorry?
Minutes later, the door creaked open. Dave walked in, holding a large bouquet of yellow roses mixed with pink baby’s breath, and stood before her.
Between Bianca’s confused expression, Dave bent down slightly and offered her the flowers. He gently smiled, his eyes sincere as he spoke to her, “Today was rushed, so these are all I could find. Yellow roses are a way of saying sorry. Bianc, I mean it-I’m sorry. I promise I won’t upset you again.”
Bianca looked into his eyes, her lips tightening a bit. “I care about you. Can you promise not to doubt me in the future?”
Her eyes were clear, filled with genuine feelings for him.
He thought she would be angry, thinking she could never like him again.
But she said she cared about him a lot.
Dave felt her words touch his heart gently, stirring up a rush of emotions. “Bianca, I promise you. I won’t ever doubt you again. I mean it, and I’ll show you through my actions. If I fail…”
Before he could finish his vow, Bianca softly held his face and kissed his lips. Her voice was gentle and reassuring as she said, “That settles it. Trust in my love for you. I won’t be with anyone else. You’re the only one I want.”
Dave’s eyes sparkled with happiness, and he tenderly cradled her neck, pulling her into a deep kiss.
“I feel the same way. There’s no one else for me but you.”
Bianca hugged Dave’s strong back, returning his affectionate kiss with sincerity.
“Dave,” he murmured in a soft, husky voice before kissing her again.
Bianca held him tightly, wrapping her arms around his broad back, silently promising to never let go.
Their kiss was long and tender. When they finally pulled apart, Dave lifted his head and looked at Bianca, his normally calm eyes now filled with a passion ignited by her presence.
“Bianc, once you’re fully recovered…”
Bianca understood his hint immediately, her cheeks blushing as she playfully scolded him, arms still around his neck. “Enough of that bold talk. We’re in a hospital, remember? Behave yourself!”
Dave chuckled softly, offering the yellow roses he still held to Bianca. “So, do you forgive me now?”
Gratefully, Bianca took the roses, her smile bright. “With such a heartfelt gesture, how could I not forgive you?”
“Are you happy with them?” Dave asked gently.
