Under Dave’s foot, Haris whimpered in pain. Dave grabbed his arm and talked with a chilling voice.
“Is this the hand you used to hurt her?”
Terrified, Haris shook his head, but a scream of pain came out as his arm broke.
It was then that Haris realized how terrifying the man in front of him was. Knowing he couldn’t match Dave, he desperately tried to run away.
Haris grabbed a knife from the ground and slashed at Dave’s ankle. Dave stepped back, giving Haris a chance to scramble up and escape.
Dave didn’t pursue him because his men were waiting outside the cabin. Even if Haris managed to get out, he wouldn’t be able to escape.
Dave rushed to Bianca. He quickly untied her, covered her exposed body with his coat, and gently lifted her into his arms.
Looking at Bianca, her body bruised and injured, Dave felt a sharp pain in his heart.
He had arrived too late.
Dave gently clasped Bianca’s pale hand, his eyebrows twitching slightly.
Bianca weakly opened her eyes and saw the pain on his face. She managed a faint smile. “Why do you look like that? Do I… look that bad now?”
Dave felt like his heart was breaking. He shook his head and hugged her tightly, saying, “I’m so sorry, Bianca. I’m so sorry… It’s all my fault. I should have come sooner. Why didn’t I take you home earlier?”
“You’re holding me too tight,” Bianca whispered weakly.
Upon hearing her voice, Dave immediately loosened his grip and cradled her gently in his arms.
Bianca’s head throbbed from the recent blow, and she felt faint from the pain of her injuries. She struggled against the urge to sleep, holding onto Dave’s coat sleeve with all her remaining strength. “Haris… he took the necklace you gave me…”
Bianca had managed to hold back tears during Haris’s abuse earlier, but now, she couldn’t help but break into sobs.
Dave gently lifted Bianca and placed her on the sofa. Holding her hand, he whispered, “Just wait here for a few minutes.”
After Bianca nodded, Dave quietly exited the room.
Outside, the night was shadowy and filled with unsettling sounds from the sea. On the deck, Haris stood frozen, a gun held against his head, trembling with fear and nearly losing control.
Knowing how to swim, Haris had considered jumping into the sea to escape. But as soon as he stepped out of the cabin, he was caught off guard by the gun aimed at him.
Dave approached, signaling his subordinate to lower the gun. His coat collar fluttered in the night breeze.
“Boss, just give me the order, and I’ll shoot him and throw him into the sea,” said Dave’s subordinate, standing beside him with the utmost respect as if Dave were a king.
Staring at Haris, Dave said in a chilling tone, “Give back Bianca’s necklace, or I’ll end your life right now.”
Haris turned to see Dave surrounded by the same strong men in black from before. Could Dave really be the boss they had mentioned?
Haris remembered Sheila describing Dave as just a handsome face without any real power.
Confused by the sudden turn of events, Haris didn’t have much time to think. He nervously pulled out the necklace from his pocket, holding onto it as his last bargaining chip. “I’ll give it to you, but you have to promise to let me go first. If not… I’ll throw this necklace into the sea.”
He backed away slowly, leaning against the yacht’s railing, his hand hovering over the water.
Dave, appearing unconcerned, tilted his head slightly. “Take a look behind you. Go ahead and throw it if you want. It’s just a piece of jewelry. I can always buy another one. But remember, you only have one life. Are you sure about your decision?”
Haris glanced behind him and his eyes widened in shock.
The once dark sea was now bright with many boats surrounding his yacht.
This erased any idea he had of escaping into the sea.
He felt trapped, like a lamb waiting for its fate.
He sank to the floor, staring up at the tall figure in desperation. His lips trembled as he asked, “Who… Who are you?”
Dave slowly approached Haris, crouching down with one arm on his knee. Looking into Haris’s frightened eyes, Dave’s lips slightly curved as he asked, “Do you really want to know who I am and what it could mean for you?”
Then, Haris heard a chilling chuckle.
“I have the power to make you suffer more than death itself.”
Terrified, Haris knelt, pressing his forehead to the deck, tears streaming down his face. “Sir, I’m so sorry. This is all my fault. I didn’t know who you were. I was just following orders. It was Ashley Scott. She’s the one who told me to do all this. Please, have mercy. Let me live.”
“Ashley Scott?” Dave snorted with disdain.
Dave took the red diamond necklace from Haris’s hand and then stood over him. He gave a slight smile. “Alright, I’ll give you a chance to live. This is your plea for mercy. Make sure you appreciate it.”
With those words, Dave turned and walked back towards the cabin. Passing a subordinate with a gun, he briefly stopped to give an order, “Break his legs and dump him in the roughest slum overseas.”
“Understood.”
“Get in touch with the head of Edenfield Hospital. I need their top doctors on standby tonight.”
“Yes, sir.”
The idea that someone else had hurt Bianca, a woman Dave would never harm, fueled his rage.
Dave’s fists tightened. He thought that killing Haris would be too easy for him.
He was set on making anyone who dared hurt his woman suffer.
When he got back to the cabin, Dave found Bianca unconscious. He lifted her gently, noticing how light she felt. He wanted to hold her close, but he was afraid of hurting her more.
He cradled her carefully as he left the cabin.
Dave took Bianca onto a helicopter, and they quickly flew to Edenfield Hospital.
Edenfield Hospital was renowned as the top private medical facility, known for its leading experts, advanced equipment, and luxurious environment.
It was proudly owned by the Evans Group.
As the helicopter landed, the hospital’s director and a team of doctors were waiting. Dave stepped out, and they swiftly took Bianca from him, placing her on a stretcher and rushing her into the emergency room.
Zane, following Dave, reassured him, “Mr. Evans, with the hospital director here, Miss Scott will receive the best care. You should rest in the lounge. I’ll handle everything and update you after her surgery.”
But Dave didn’t budge. He walked alongside the director to the emergency room entrance. “No need. I’ll wait right here.”
After saying that, Dave sat on a bench by the emergency room door, his hand on his chin and eyebrows furrowed. Only Zane recognized this as his boss’s worried expression.
