Bianca’s face lit up with joy, nodding enthusiastically. “Yes, I love them!”
Dave’s smile widened. The meaning of yellow roses was something he had recently read in a book. Although he hadn’t cared much about such details before, he suddenly recalled it.
Suddenly, Bianca looked alarmed. “Oh no, the necklace!”
Remembering the necklace, Dave took out the red diamond necklace from his pocket.
Bianca felt relief seeing the necklace was safe. She held it close to her chest with a sigh. “I’m glad it’s still here.”
“If you like necklaces, I can get you another one,” Dave suggested, sitting beside her bed with warmth and affection in his eyes as he watched her hold the necklace.
Bianca gently refused, her eyes fixed on the red diamond necklace in her hand. She softly said, “This necklace represents our promise, given by you. It means a lot to me. I couldn’t bear to lose it…”
Unexpectedly, Dave leaned in and gently pushed Bianca back onto the bed, kissing her passionately. Bianca held onto his white shirt, completely absorbed in the embrace.
As they broke apart from their passionate kiss, Dave slowly released her flushed lips.
“Why did you… kiss me like that out of the blue?” Bianca looked into his eyes, filled with desire.
Her long, delicate eyelashes fluttered, adding to her shy yet captivating charm. Dave’s face was near hers, and he gently rubbed his nose against hers. In a low, deep voice, he confessed, “When you speak like that, it’s difficult for me to resist touching you.”
A deep shade of red spread across her face, her neck also tinged with a faint pink hue.
Bianca felt the warmth from him, gradually melting her defenses…
“Mr. Evans…” Bianca whispered under Dave, feeling his cautious restraint.
“Not right now. Let’s wait until you’re fully recovered,” Dave replied gently, almost as if reassuring himself. He then slowly moved away from Bianca.
Looking up at Dave with her clear, sparkling eyes, Bianca asked, “I’ve been wondering. Why is this necklace shaped like a teardrop? Does it have a special meaning?”
Dave took the necklace from Bianca’s hand and placed it around her neck. He explained, “It’s called Blood of the Heart, symbolizing that you are the essence of my heart.”
The red diamond held such a deep and heartfelt meaning.
Bianca felt deeply moved, a surge of emotions filling her.
As Dave looked at her, she reached out, wrapping her arms around his neck, eager to kiss him again.
But Bianca may have been too enthusiastic as a sudden sharp pain shot through her head, turning her tender kiss into a grimace of discomfort.
Dave found her reaction amusing and couldn’t help but laugh. “Weren’t you the one reminding us we’re in a hospital just now? Take it easy; don’t tempt me too much, or I might lose control. We can be as close as you want once you’re fully healed.”
“Dave, you really should practice self-control. It’s better for both of us!” Bianca said, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
Yet, it was the first time Bianca had seen Dave laugh so heartily, so freely.
Despite her initial embarrassment, she found herself joining in his laughter.
“By the way, where is Haris now? What happened to him in the end?” Bianca’s laughter faded as she asked.
“Don’t worry. The police have caught him. He won’t be a threat to you anymore,” Dave reassured her, though his expression turned slightly grim.
“I always knew he wasn’t a good person, but I never imagined he’d stoop so low as to take money from Stacey and Ashley to target me,” Bianca said, her brows furrowed in frustration.
She thought about what could have happened if Dave hadn’t arrived when he did-a chilling thought of possibly floating lifeless in the ocean.
Observing Bianca, Dave spoke gently, “Those two women seem to be causing you a lot of trouble. Would you like me to intervene?”
“No, I’ll handle them myself,” Bianca asserted firmly, gripping the edge of her blanket. She was determined to confront Stacey and Ashley on her own terms.
Dave respected her decision. While he wouldn’t interfere openly, he had his own ways of dealing with those who threatened his beloved.
“Oh no, Diana must be worried about me being out so late. I should call her,” Bianca said, reaching for her phone.
However, Dave gently caught her wrist. “Don’t worry, I already spoke to her,” he assured her.
“What? When did this happen?” Bianca’s eyes widened in surprise.
“She called while you were unconscious, so I answered.”
“And what exactly did you tell her?”
Dave grinned playfully and replied, “I let her know that my girlfriend is in good hands and there’s no need to worry.”
Bianca was momentarily speechless.
How could he say something so easily misunderstood?
Exhaling, Bianca gave Dave a look that mixed irritation with resignation. “It’s late. You should go back and get some rest, too.”
Without a word, Dave gently made space, scooped her up, and slipped into the bed next to Bianca.
“You…”
“I wasn’t planning to leave tonight anyway. Nights can get chilly, and keeping warm together is nicer.”
The room was lavishly decorated, and the bed was large enough for two, though the situation felt a bit awkward.
Bianca’s cheeks turned crimson, but Dave smoothly wrapped his arm around her, gently pulling her close.
“Oh!” Bianca couldn’t help but let out a surprised gasp.
“Don’t scream. We wouldn’t want anyone to get the wrong idea,” Dave said with a playful grin. “It’s cozier this way, sleeping close together.”
Snuggled against his chest, Bianca felt his warmth through his shirt, and she began to relax.
His presence always made her feel safe and at ease.
“Bianc,” Dave’s deep voice broke the silence above her.
“Hmm?” Bianca looked up, meeting his intense stares.
“I’ve been wanting to tell you something about my family, but I wasn’t sure how to bring it up,” Dave said, gently holding her arm. “Both my parents have passed away…”
Bianca’s body tensed briefly at his words.
Dave spoke softly, “When I was ten, my parents had a car accident. My mom was stuck inside as the car caught fire. My dad escaped but went back to save her. People later said he sacrificed himself for love, as they were deeply in love.”
“After that, my grandfather got very sick. While he was ill, some of my uncles locked me in a dark room without food for ten days. I even missed their funerals.”
Bianca held Dave tightly, her eyes wide with shock and concern. Just hearing his story filled her with overwhelming sadness.
