Chapter 154
Lily’s return
Detective James POV:
Finally, Sarah confesses to all her crimes, but I am beyond shocked because I felt I knew a lot about her, but I know better now.
Gosh!
How can she be so wicked?
That should not be a question bothering me because, she is a part of the syndicate and wickedness is part of the business.
Now, I think we have had a lot to get us the justice that we want.
But it feels like we are back to square one, since lawyer Williams feels traumatized by the bomb incident.
Now, I need to go on a new search for a willing lawyer.
Then, it dawns on me as I go through the files on my laptop.
“Warden!” I call with seriousness.
“Lily has not been back to this prison since she stepped out of here… where is she?” I asked her.
“I mean… is she still ill?” I ask.
The warden smirks and looks at me.
“You have to calm down, detective!” She says.
“Sarah’s planned escape does not mean everyone wants to get out prison, besides Lily is in the hospital and obviously chilling.” She tells me.
“Chilling?” I raised a brow.
“Now, sick people chill in the hospital or what?” I ask.
I got out of the chair and went straight to the hospital that the Lily was.
“Where is Lily?” I rushed straight to the reception.
“An inmate.. she was brought here some time back!” The nurse directs me and I leave thankfully.
I got there and I noticed that it was empty that I wondered if Lily was really there or she has been transferred somewhere else.
“But there is no one in the room.. I guess you had given me the wrong room number.” I tell her as I could read confusion all over her face.
“I beg to disagree but come with me.” She says as I followed behind.
The nurse immediately raises an alarm and the entire hospital exits are locked, and a new search for Lily begun.
I was moved to pull out my pistol but I could not since it was a hospital and I would not want to scare anyone.
I went round the exits but it felt Lily was no where to be found and I was beginning to give up, when a patient screamed out her lungs.
“What’s going on?” I thought as the nurses rush to attend to her when this nurse returns to me and says I need to identify the in mate.
Behold Lily was trying to strangle a patient as saw her running away but Lily tried to stop her from screaming but she was never lucky at it.
“That was not a good job, Lily!” I tell her.
“In fact, your jail terms just went high.. kudos!” I said as she was handed over to me.
Sitting behind the table and Lily sitting across me in the interrogation room as I asked her questions.
“What was that about?” I ask.
“I mean, what was that stunt about.. you wanted to escape?” I asked her as she only stared.
“But I guess that was sad for you because you didn’t!” I fired.
“So now, you need to tell me who was aiding your escape?”
Lily sat in her chair sitting staring deep into my eyes without saying a word.
“What change does it make? I mean I am back to this hell hole and telling you will not change anything, because I am still going to be here!” She says.
“No, Lily, you are not going to be here but taken to a facility that is more stricter than this, and you will probably spending your entire life in jail if you do not say anything!” I say staring into her eyes.
“Then, just do it because it is better I stay there because I do no think I have a life outside this place!” I stared as I saw that she proved stubborn.
“Nice, then be ready to face the court!” I say and exit the room.
As I walked down I could not bring myself to imagine what the syndicate feeds them with that they would not dare let out any information.
First, it was Sarah who tried to play me and now it is still the same with Lily.
But then, I am detective James and this what I do best and I will make sure that I bring out any information that will be of help to get justice.
Hours later, still trying to get the best person to handle this case, then I got a mail.
It was from Miss Williams and she was already referring us to someone else who will be of help.
I have never felt this happy in a long time.
I broke down in tears of joys at once as I sat in my office alone.
“Definitely, there is light at the end of the tunnel, because we just got there!” I say with much joy.
I went about that day with joy because someone who was wrongly accused will soon be out of here.
And this time.. it will be different because the guilt of ruining someone’s career and life will be taken off me, while the true culprits are remanded for good.
“Lily is ready to start talking,” my assistant reveal, as my face lit up a little.
“That a way forward then!” I got out of the chair and headed out.
“You can start talking now!” I pull out the chair to seat.
“Kayla is still alive!” I felt a cold shivers ran through my spine at once.
“What do you mean by that?” I lean in, asking.
“You heard me.. she was never dead!” Like snapped.
I could not bring myself to agree with what she told me, I saw Kayla’s body before it was taken out of jail.
I knew that megan was probably not her killer, but saying she was alive has to be the thing I never thought of.
“H.. how sure are you about this?” I inquired.
“She was going to get me out of prison, but I think she also blew my cover up so I guess I will just have to blow hers up.” Lily rolls her eyes.
“Lily, do you know that this is a serious allegation and if you are not careful it could land you in trouble!” I ask her.
“Do you want to know how serious I am detective?” She asks.
“Fine! I will tell you.” She leans in further.
“Maybe, she might be in the location I was going to meet her when you caught me.” She reveals and she hands over a piece of crumbled pape over to me.
“You might find what you are searching for there!” She says and looks away.
I stared at her in silence as I got ready to do my job again.
