Nicklaus’s POV
“I will prepare dinner for both of you. It’s a promise. No matter how busy I am, I will never get too busy for my beautiful family. Just know that,” I assured her, and she became very excited. “Thank you, Daddy. You are the best. I will boast among my friends that my father is a good cook, and my mom is good at reading bedtime stories.” We all laughed, and then I stopped one of the maids, saying, “Take a picture of us.” I handed my phone to her, and we all posed for a family picture together.
The picture turned out great, and Estella had to leave; it was time for her to study. I was left alone with my partner.
“I’m sorry,” we both said simultaneously.
“That was supposed to be my line,” I said with a smile.
“It was my line too.”
“I miss you, my beautiful queen.” I held her close and kissed her deeply, causing her cheeks to turn red.
“I’m sorry for the attitude I showed today. Can you forgive me?” I asked politely. She reassured me that she wasn’t upset at all.
“I’m not angry, and forgive me for not being understanding earlier.” She added, caressing my chin.
“Thank you. So, are you ready for another round in bed with me? Who knows, you might end up with a child after this,” I teased.
“No way. I’m not ready to get pregnant again. Besides, it’s almost time for the meeting as well. We can save it for later. Remember, you’re cooking for us.”
“I can’t forget that. I’m the alpha, and I have the strength for you. You know I can never get tired of you. I promise I won’t waste time at all. Just a quickie.”
“I wish people knew how spoiled their alpha is.” I carried her, and she kissed me. “Wow, so someone has been wishing to kiss me, and you’re acting like you don’t want it.”
“Fine, you win.”
“Yes.” As we were about to leave, Mateo came and said, “Alpha Nicklaus and Luna Gabriella, everyone is ready in your office.”
“That’s our cue,” Gabby said, and I nodded. I disliked how Mateo always interrupted good times like this, but I needed to be serious now. I had to go in there, listen, and make my decision. But what would it be?
“Sweetie!” Gabriella tapped me, and I smiled. “Yes, dear.”
“Shall we?” She asked.
“Yes, we shall.”
We walked together to his office, and I was amazed by the view. I had never been here before. It was amazing, and my mouth hung open in awe.
“Everyone is watching. I know it’s my fault for not showing you my office earlier, but you’re the Luna. Remember that and close your mouth,” I said to her. She playfully hit me and said, “That’s for not telling me sooner. So, where do I sit?”
“You’ll sit next to me as the Luna.” I winked at her, and she responded with a beautiful smile.
Her seat was brought next to mine, and we both took our seats as everyone showed their respect.
“We all know why we’re gathered here, right?” I asked, and they all nodded, saying, “Yes, Alpha.”
“Bring her,” I said, pointing to Jessica, and she was brought to the front.
“Where are the ladies who had breakfast with my mate?” I questioned, and the ladies were directed to the front, looking somewhat scared.
“Now, ladies, we’re not wasting time here. Look at this lady carefully.” I pointed at Jessica, and their eyes were fixed on her.
“Have you seen her before?”
“No, Alpha.” They all shook their heads in disagreement.
“Are you saying she never had breakfast with you that morning?”
“No, Alpha, this is the first time we are meeting her,” one of them replied.
“Luna, was she present with you when you had breakfast?” I asked my mate. She nodded. “No, she was not the lady,” Gabby replied, and I became confused.
“Mateo, I said all the ladies present for breakfast should be brought here. Why is one missing?”
“Alpha, I brought everyone, and the other lady they talked about is nowhere to be found,” he replied.
“Nowhere to be found? I need a drawing of her. Ladies, can you remember her face?” I asked the ladies, and they nodded.
“Good. When we are done here, get me a skilled artist to draw a portrait so we can display it everywhere to search for her,” I ordered, and they noted what I said.
“Now, for those who were drugged, are you certain this is the lady who served you food?”
“Yes, Alpha, but she had blonde short hair,” I looked at Jessica. She had long black hair mixed with red.
“Jessica, do you have a twin sister?” I was compelled to ask, and she nodded. “No, I don’t. I grew up with my late mother and father. They are both deceased, and I was never told about having a twin or another relative,” she replied, deepening my confusion. The case was becoming more complex with each passing second. I looked at Gabby, she held my hands and smiled, helping me regain composure.
“I need all the CCTV footage from morning till noon. I also need everyone to thoroughly search the area to find the lady with short blonde hair who resembles the woman over there, as well as the other new lady.”
I stood up and hit the table. “No one is allowed to leave the pack or enter. We need to search everyone and be cautious. The enemy is closer than you think. You may all leave now. Mateo, Jessica, please stay behind.”
Everyone left immediately, and I faced Jessica. “What do you have to say? Have you had any recent misunderstandings with anyone?”
“No, I haven’t. I’m always at my bar as usual, and I came here because of the vision. But this is serious. How can someone wear my face to frame me?” she questioned, looking worried.
“What if you do have a sister, as Nick mentioned earlier?” Gabby questioned.
“The Luna and Alpha are right, Jessica. You might have a sister,” Mateo chimed in.
“It’s impossible. Witches like me don’t engage in evil deeds,” Jessica added, and I took a deep breath.
“Alright, let’s call it a day. We’ll continue tomorrow,” I added, and they all left. Gabby hugged me from behind.
“We are going to catch them, my love. Don’t worry too much about it.”
“Thank you for being there for me. I guess I have time to start making dinner for Estella. Let’s go to the kitchen now.”
“Sure. Am I still resuming training tomorrow?”
“Yes, you are. And the good news is that I’ll be personally training you. Mateo will be the second person allowed to oversee your training when I’m not around.”
