Quinn
“Mia! Wait! Stop!” I shouted at her to stop but she wouldn’t. She kept on running, heading outside and I knew that I was messed up if she could get out of the gate. She would misunderstand the whole scenario and harden her heart before I could find my brothers, and go home to beg her.
What was she doing here? Scratch that. That wasn’t the right question to ask. She could be here for reasons of her own that she knew. The right question to ask was why she would think that I was cheating on her. I understood that the situation wasn’t a nice one and it was possible that jealousy suddenly crept up on her but she should have held on to her logic. I was a wolf and never would I cheat on my mate. She was far from thinking right and that was what I had to help her do which was why I had to run to her before she could escape.
I ran after her, watching as she took a bend. I sighed. If she could get out of that turn, she would be at the gate and that would be the end of my immediate apology.
I was glad when I got to the area where she was and realized that no one else was around her. I zoomed to her with inhumane speed and pulled her to me. She yelled, protesting that I let her go but I wouldn’t do such a thing.
“Let me go, Quinn.” She cried.
“No, Mia. Not until you hear me out.”
“There is nothing to hear.” She hissed. “I’ve seen everything that I want to see. I came here because I missed you but it seems like you don’t. You have someone to keep you company and have fun with. Your brothers are also not with you even though you are always together. It’s either you asked them to excuse you or they also have someone who is keeping them company.”
I gasped at her words. “Mia! Don’t be ridiculous. Is that really what you believe in?”
She snorted. “Do I look like someone who knows what to believe in?”
“Mia, I know you don’t mean that.”
“Let me go.” She hissed.
“Never.” I said to her, hoping she knew the meaning of what I had said.
She hissed at me, her eyes flashing fire at me. The double meaning of my words were lost on her. “I am not joking with you, Quinn.”
I smiled. “Does it seem I’m cracking one as well?”
I held on to her, determined to not let go until she had forgive me. She stood still, looking at me and I was sure that she would have forgiven me if it hadn’t been for the major.
Suddenly, the speakers all around the barracks came alive with the voice of the major and everywhere got loud.
“All senior officers are to leave whatever it is that they are doing and come here.” The major said over the speakers.
Mia arched her eyebrows and looked at me as if she knew that I was going to have no choice but to respond to her. “Aren’t you going to go?” She asked in a teasing voice.
I sighed, swearing as the major repeated himself and looked at Mia. My trainings kicked in and I hated that I had to leave her. Moreover, I couldn’t stand here talking to her while the major’s voice boomed loudly over the speakers. I was going to be in trouble if the others saw me standing here and refusing orders.
“I will see you soon.” I said to Mia as I let go of her.
She scoffed and ran out as soon as I let go of her hand. I sighed as I watched her leave, vowing to myself that it wouldn’t be long before we retire. I was going to have that conversation with my brothers pretty soon.
I saw Susan as I walked by, on my way rushing to the major’s office. I decided that I could spare two minutes with her before zooming to the major’s office.
I moved closer to her, my eyes hard as I stared at her. My voice was a growl when I spoke to her and I pointed my finger at her in annoyance as I spat out my annoyance to her.
“Don’t you ever come close or talk to me again in your life, Susan!” I growled at her.
She jumped at the angry use of her name. I continued, not concerned with the sheen of tears in her eyes. She had caused Mia to cry and that was enough for me to be mad and unbothered about anything else. She had to be kidding me with her fake tears. I had thought she would have listened with how harsh I was the other day and avoid but it seemed like that wasn’t enough and I had to be more than harsh to her to break down her determined spirit and break through her thick skull.
“I thought I already warned you to stay away from me. What else are you waiting for? What else do you want? Do you know what you have done?” I growled at her.
She jumped and I lowered my voice as I fixed my gaze on her though I didn’t reduce the venom in my words. “The next time you come close to me and try to act as if we are friends, I’m going to tear you to pieces and it wouldn’t be with my words. Are we clear, officer?”
I moved away from her before she could respond. As expected, I was the last one to get to the major’s office. Jack and John walked up to me after the meeting was done and everyone was trooping out.
“Why were you late? Did you sleep off? I thought you were at your usual getaway and the major’s office is not far from there.”
“We need to go home now.”
“Why?” They asked, surprised.
“Mia came over and…”
“She did?” They echoed in surprise, their eyes lighting up with excitement as they looked around. “Where is she? Did you send her home?”
I winced at what I had done. Everyone would have been happy to see one another if Mia had stayed with the way my brothers were excited.
“I would have told you what I did to her if you hadn’t interrupted me.” I scowled at them. “She ran home, angry and crying.”
I should have added jealous but she would kill me for that if I told the boys that she was jealous and they teased her about it later. I intentionally added crying even though she hadn’t really been doing that because I needed something dramatic to get my brothers acting.
“Crying?” John narrowed his eyes at me. “What did you do?”
“I didn’t do anything.” I shrugged. “I think she came to surprise us with her visit and she ran home when she found me and saw Susan clinging to me. She assumed the worst.”
“Damn that Susan.” Jack growled. “Doesn’t she ever give up?”
I sighed. That was my sentiment exactly. I didn’t know why she found it hard to give up on me and was acting like a bloodhound.
“Mia is right to be angry. She must think that is all we do here. We really have to go home.”
“She actually said that. She said the two of you weren’t with me because you have someone that you are having fun with as well.”
“Fuck, brother.” Jack groaned. “You shouldn’t have said that. Now, you are messing with my head.”
John grinned at Jack. “Imagine that you were the one that she found with a lady, that would have been more disaster for us. If she couldn’t trust Quinn on the spot, do you think that she should have trusted you with your history?”
Jack chuckled. “Don’t say that, bro. That’s creepy but don’t worry, I am king of words for a reason. I will get myself out of the mess even if that was how it happened.”
I sighed. The two of them were turning this into a joke and I didn’t like that. “How about you put some good use to your skills and get us all out of this mess because Mia is angry at all of us?”
Jack smiled and patted me on the shoulder. “Have some faith in this magic talker, brother.”
“Let’s go get permission from the major to attend to something important at home.” John said. “I hope he gives us and doesn’t say that he has given us enough slack as our father’s friend.”
I swallowed as I saw the opportunity that I had been waiting for. “How about we tell him that we want to retire?”
“What?” They both stared at me.
“What?” I shrugged, looking at the two of them. “Don’t tell me that you have not been thinking of it. Very soon, I would be so busy with the pack duties as the alpha that I wouldn’t have the time to work in the human world and we all know that you can’t stay here while I stay over there. Moreover, there is the bonding magic which is tying us to our mate. Don’t tell me that I’m the only one who feels the strain.”
They sighed and shook their heads. “You are not the only one.”
“So, what do you say?”

Mia
I was fuming mad, but no longer at Quinn but at myself. Why did I have to get angry and jealous? I didn’t have to act that way. I knew that Quinn (or any of the boys) was an attractive man and that he was mated to me didn’t mean that ladies weren’t still going to want him. I had seen enough of how ladies themselves at them and should have gotten used to this already. I shouldn’t have let it affect me the way I had allowed it.
Heck, he didn’t have a ring on his finger and I never marked anyone of them as mine. I had been the one marked by them.
I shouldn’t have reacted that way. I shouldn’t have gotten jealous and should have let him talk.
I ran to my bedroom immediately I got home, not wishing for anyone to see me.
I wanted to scream out loud at how silly I was but it was getting late already and I didn’t want anyone to know that I was back. I had drove home like a crazy woman while swiping my tears away so I could beat the long distance and avoid getting home at dusk.
It wasn’t up to fifteen minutes that I got in that the door to my bedroom opened and I hurriedly wiped my face off with my hands, assuming that it was a maid coming to ask if I was going to have my dinner in the bedroom.
I sighed. Didn’t those maids ever rest? Were their eyes glued to the door? How did they know that I was inside already?
“Babe.” Quinn said as soon as he walked into the room.
I gasped at the sound of his voice and turned in surprise to see them. “What are you doing here?”
“What do you think?” Jack winked at me. “Do you think that we are going to leave our girl to sleep through the night angry at us? We took the next available flight home as soon as we were done.”
“Done?”
“Done submitting our resignation letters.”
“What?”
Quinn nodded. “Yes, we resigned. What is the point of working and suffering when we are far away from you and also still having you misunderstand us?”
I was touched. “You resigned because of me?”
“We were going to do it eventually. We missed you as well. You weren’t the only one who was feeling that pang of loneliness. We felt your absence as well.”
I smiled and quickly stopped. I wasn’t going to forgive them easily like that. “Who was that?”
“A junior officer who wouldn’t stop clinging to Quinn.” John said on Quinn’s behalf.
I nodded. I believed him. John wouldn’t lie to me even if Jack loved to tease me and Quinn loved to keep secrets from me.
Quinn smiled and moved closer to me, relief evident on his face. “Have you forgiven me?” He said and wrapped his hands around my waist, nudging his head into the crook of my neck. “Are you still mad at me? Hmmm.”
I smiled, feeling ticklish with his breath on my skin. He kissed me briefly on his lips and I couldn’t help the moan that escaped my throat. I wrapped my hands close to his neck and kissed him back.
Jack and John chuckled as they watched us kiss. “I’m glad that everything about this is resolved.” John sighed.
Jack chuckled. “You are making me jealous.”
I chuckled against Quinn’s lips as he pressed his lips harder against mine to make Jack chuckle more.
“Darling, I heard that you are back.” Mum said as she walked into my bedroom without knocking.
Damn, I should have locked the door after the boys came in. I pushed Quinn away but it was too late. Mum had already seen us.
“What?” She shouted. “What is going on here?”
