Sasha
I held my bag to my chest as I walked, hurrying along the ground as silently as I could even though no one was around to hear me.
My heart banged in my chest and I thought that I was going to die with the tension flowing in my bloodstream. My thoughts shouted in my head that the werewolves were going to kill me and tear my body from limb to limb if Mia reported me missing and they searched and found me here.
I wasn’t going to like what would happen to me and I wouldn’t have any excuse. I couldn’t say that I was bored and that was why I was moving around in the darkness all alone. There was a party going on which I intentionally chose not to be a part of. They were going to ask me what I was doing in the house and no one would believe that I didn’t have an agenda.
I didn’t think I have the strength in me to confess or deny under torture. I hoped that they didn’t catch me until I had found the master. He would be able to save both of us if that happened.
I reminded myself that I hadn’t seen master and didn’t know how weak he was before wishing that he would save us if we got caught.
I shuddered as I thought of being captured and thrown into the cage with my master.
I followed the pull of magic in my blood and kept walking. I stopped as I got before a door and knew without a doubt that he was kept there. It looked old and didn’t seem to lead to any part of the house.
It would be awkward if I ended up in the servants’ quarters. Explaining what I was looking for when the party was on the field was a tongue twister. I needed to start thinking of excuses that I was going to say if that was what happened.
I hoped that wasn’t the case. I saw another door and moved inside. I looked around at where I was as I moved deeper into the cave.
This was definitely where he was being kept, I could feel his essence calling to me. I had no more doubt in me and all I could feel was anger thrumming through me.
How could they dare to put my master as powerful as he was in a place as dirty as this?
They would suffer for it. I would make sure they paid for it. I would help my master get his revenge on them. I just needed to get to where he was.
The inner of the cave was too far from the entrance and I wondered what was going on outside. Would Mia be worried or assume that I went on a restroom break?
I hoped that she thought that I went to the ladies and didn’t waste her time fretting over me and ruining my plans.
I didn’t know why she was watching over me as if I was a kid. What was she trying to do? What was she trying to protect? Was she trying to protect the secret of the werewolves or was she just naturally a nosy host?
I breathed in relief as I finally got to a cage and I could make out the figure of someone in it. I hoped that was the master in it and not someone else. I didn’t know if they had any prisoners locked up in here.
The figure moved, leaning on the rails of the cage. I heard a faint whisper of my name and my breath caught in my throat.
I moved faster, my heart beating with excitement as my legs rushed forward with speed.
It was the master. I had finally gotten to him. He hadn’t forgotten me. I could feel tears swelling in my eyes. This was the moment I had waited for for decades.
I was so happy that I could fly. My smile wiped off my face as I saw master trying to stand up while holding to the cage and I noticed how his hand had withered. He looked lean that there was barely enough flesh on his bones.
Those bastards. They had starved him. I wanted to rush out and kill them all but had to force myself to calm down as I didn’t have enough powers to fight against three supernatural boys.
I had to let the master who was stronger fight them but with the look of things, I didn’t think that even master was strong enough to fight just one werewolf. He looked like he would need a month or more to relax to get to his full strength.
I scowled. Would he still be able to summon energy? Did he have the strength to break himself free from the cage, even with all the items that I brought? I hoped that he had it in him to tap from the earth.
I couldn’t help the fleeting thought in my head. I hoped that I hadn’t been chasing a shadow of a man that didn’t exist.
I shook off the traitorous thought from my head. I wasn’t about to be disloyal to the master.
“Gredlin.” He whispered my name, breaking me off from my depressing thought.
I winced at the sound of my original name. I had almost forgotten that I had changed my face as well my identity when I had decided to settle in the human world.
“Master.” I said, kneeling in front of him.
He looked at me with his usual look that reminded me of a lizard, giving me a weak smile. “I knew that you were going to come for me.”
I nodded, pleased that he still believed in me and was glad that I hadn’t given up on him. “I just couldn’t forget about you, master.”
“What took you so long?” He snapped in a low tone, his eyes furrowed in the way I remembered him.
I stamped down on my anger and sighed. “You don’t know how much I searched for you, master. How do we get you out of here? We don’t have much time. Do you need any stone to draw energy from?”
He shook his head. “Just take off the talisman on the door. I can’t. They were done against me so I can’t touch it.”
I was glad that it was that simple. I wouldn’t have to waste time making a circle and casting spells.
With a nod, I swallowed and slashed at the talisman. I pulled them off as fast as I could. I could see him drawing his breath in and looking better with each talisman I pulled out.
The talismans were not to keep him locked in alone but to weaken him. Feeling encouraged by the change in him, I tore at the binds with speed.
I smiled as he got out of the cage, squashing the urge to jump at him and embrace him. He wouldn’t like it. He hated people who acted emotional.
“Let’s go, master.” I said instead.
He nodded and walked after me. I was surprised that he could walk on his own without support after being locked away for that long. I was even more surprised when he cast an invisibility spell when we got out of the cave.
My master still had it. Within minutes, we were out of the house, passing by the crowd who had no idea that we were there.
