Sasha
I wouldn’t say Mia was a fool but she was one to keep falling for my attempt to break into her house and assume that it was because I was lonely. I didn’t care whatever she thought of me, all I was concerned about was getting my mission done.
We went to the shopping mall and I saddled her with questions so I could know what the werewolves were all like in case my master wanted to get his revenge on them for locking him up all those years. I didn’t want to sound like a journalist so I waited, laughing and chatting with them, bidding my time till I could find a way in.
“What kind of gifts do you want to get for them?” I asked her as we walked towards the gift sections.
She sighed. “That is what I’m concerned about. I don’t know what to get them. I hope that I am going to find what I like when I see the gifts displayed.”
I smiled. That was my opportunity to move. “What kind of person are they? Most times, the gifts people like are determined by their personalities.”
“I don’t know.” She shrugged, moving forward.
What? I frowned at her. Did she suspect that I was trying to get information from her? I looked at her, watching her expression as she moved forward. I didn’t think so. She just didn’t want to talk about her brothers.
I knew what I was going to say to get her to open up.
I arched my eyebrows at her in a way that mocked her and still seemed like I was amused. “You don’t know? But they are your brothers. You can’t tell me that you hate them that much to not have bothered to find out what they are like.”
I shook my head at her, letting her know how much I was disappointed in her. “If you don’t know what they are like, how would you know what they like? Let’s just go home and not bother to waste our time here.”
What I said definitely struck her as she turned to me with her jaws set in an angry manner. “Don’t you think that you are going overboard with your judgment, Sasha?”
I softened, afraid that she would call off the invitation to the party if I annoyed her. I mustn’t get on her bad side.
“I’m sorry.” I apologized quickly to her. “I’m afraid I got carried away.”
She sighed. “I don’t know how what I know of them can help me choose the best gifts for them. I just wanted to go with my instincts.”
I smiled at her. “You can’t go with your instincts. Tell me everything you know, you never can know what I can come up with. I give the best surprises to people.”
She nodded, talking as her eyes moved over the displayed items in the gift rack.
“Quinn has a cold and reserved personality and I think that is because he is the eldest. Jack is a playboy, charming with his words and flirtatious acts. He is skilled in socializing with others. I think he is the most loved among the brothers and loves to flirt with women but is impulsive. John is a clever and friendly guy. He is actually quite simple though he can be as annoying as his brothers.”
She turned to me when she was done. “Did that help? What kind of gifts do you think they need?”
I scowled. I didn’t get much information from her but I had a bit of what I needed. The master would have to avoid Quinn till he was done with the rest of the brothers. Getting Jack wouldn’t be a problem for him. He could easily transform into a beautiful lady and flirt with him.
Mia had no idea but she was of great help to me. I wished I had a way of repaying her unintentional kindness but I had no doubt that she was going to hate me if she knew that I was responsible for the calamity that would befall her family soon.
I would like to know about her step-father but I didn’t know of a way that was going to happen that she wouldn’t suspect me.
I shrugged. “I’m sure we would get gifts for them.”
“Thank you.” She said.
I shook my head. “No problem.” I should be the one thanking her.
The drive to the werewolves’ house wasn’t as long to me as it had been when I was going the first time. I was used to it already and I patted my bag as I went through the content in it in my head.
I was trying to remember if I had taken everything that I needed. I got all the spell enhancers that I needed to break the master free. I didn’t think that I was strong enough to fight against any magic in case he was being held down by magic that I couldn’t fight against.
I needed strengtheners for the dark wizard to break himself free in case he would have to do that for him.
I got to the house and my spirit lifted as I got there. It felt good to feel the presence of the master again and I could feel my blood singing in my veins.
“Hey, look who is here.” Quinn chuckled as he saw us, moving towards Mia.
She shied away from his embrace and he chuckled. “Happy birthday.”
“Here.” She handed over a package to him.
“What is this?” He asked, his eyes twinkling. “You bought us a gift. Wow.”
“You are welcome.” She smiled at him and then turned to me. “You remember my friend, right?”
“Of course, Sasha.” He turned to me. “You are welcome.”
“Happy birthday.” I smiled at them.
He nodded at me. “Thank you.” He shouted. “Guys, Mia is here with gifts and a friend.”
The boys moved closer to where we were and thanked us. We were seated outside where the party was to happen.
I growled when I noticed that it was an outdoor party. I had thought that it was going to be an indoor party and I was going to be able to slink outside when everywhere was busy. Everyone was going to look at me when I was about to leave.
I found a seat, trying not to mingle with too many people. I didn’t want to make myself known to those who were going to miss my absence and wonder where I was when it was time for me to get to where the master was.
Mia seemed to be watching me as she moved about. Even though her brothers requested her presence, she still found a way to keep an eye on me. I tensed at her look, wondering why she was looking at me.
She asked me to sit with her but I told her I preferred to sit alone. I didn’t need a mother hen to watch over me. It was a party that I came for and not to a daycare.
I saw that Mia was talking to one of her brothers and I saw my opportunity to leave. I hissed as a man came to sit with me just as I was leaving, his eyes glinting with admiration.
I scoffed at him, wondering what he would do if he knew that I was old enough to be his elder sister.
“It seems like you don’t like parties much.”
I rolled my eyes. I didn’t like him much as well. He had blocked my exit and now Mia had her eyes on me again.
“Not really.” I sighed.
“What do you like?”
“I like it when guys know when I don’t want to talk to them and avoid me.”
He looked at me in surprise. “I’m sorry.” He said, picked his drink and left.
I felt like a bitch at the change in his expression. I knew he was trying only to be friendly and I didn’t have to be rude but I also knew that if I didn’t change him on time, I was going to lose this window of opportunity to set the master free.
I didn’t think that I was going to get another one if I missed this. Mia wasn’t going to be gullible forever. She was going to suspect that there was something else with my need to always follow her to her house.
Mia was coming my way and I started to fidget. I hoped that she wasn’t coming to drag me off to the party.
“Hey, are you fine?” She asked as she got to me.
“Yes.” I replied.
“You are keeping to yourself. You don’t seem like you are having fun.”
“I am.”
“Okay. Tell me if you need anything.” She said.
“I will.” I promised even though if I wasn’t going to.
I had rejected the food and drinks that had been offered to me. I waited for Mia to move to where her brothers were.
I smiled as I found my chance to sneak out without having anyone notice where I was. The DJ had called for the celebrants’ dance and the brothers didn’t want Mia to go. They held on to her, insisting that she danced with them and not letting her go.
I almost blew them a kiss for what they were doing. I had my chance. Immediately I saw that Mia was kept busy and I had lost the attention of the mother hen over me, I stood up and ran away from the party as soon as fast as my legs could go.
I needed to be fast before they knew that I was gone. I prayed as I was going that they danced and their legs never got tired.
