Mia
I knew something was going on when the triplets had invited me to come for the weekend again. What was their problem? Why were they acting needy? I couldn’t believe them. I wondered why they were acting clingy. Were they always this clingy and I had no idea of it because of the presence of our parents?
I missed them. It had been a month since they went on their honeymoon and they weren’t back yet. Who could blame them? It wasn’t as if they had a job or little children to get back home to. They had no reason to rush their honeymoon and come back.
My mum and her husband were having a swell time while I was having my own time troubled by my step-brothers.
What a life that I had. I scowled at myself.
I had allowed Sasha to come with me the last time that I was home because I wanted another company other than my brothers but I didn’t think that I could allow her to come with me now.
I had almost died of fright when I had seen her taking a walk in the garden because she was bored. I couldn’t let her find the cave or meet the dark wizard. I couldn’t let an innocent get killed because of me.
I couldn’t stop imagining what would have happened if I hadn’t found her when I did. She would have died and I didn’t think that my conscience could deal with the burden of guilt like that on it.
“Hey, everyone. Our sister is back home.” Jack grinned as he saw me walk inside the house.
“Against her wish.” I scowled at them.
“Whatever.” John snorted. “You are here and that is all that matters.”
“So, what is up?” I asked them. “What is up with you? Why did you call for me?”
“To spend the weekend with you.” Jack asked.
I snorted. “You need to do better, brothers. You can’t keep stressing me like this. You said you were going to come to my workplace to bundle me out of there if I avoided you again.”
“Do you really think we can do that to you?” John asked.
I nodded my head without hesitation. “I do.”
Their faces fell. “Well, here you are all the same and I think that is worth the threat.”
I snorted at them and moved away from them to my bedroom. “I’m going back home tomorrow so you better tell me quickly what this is all about.”
“This is home.” The three of them shouted at me in unison and I jumped, startled as I turned back to look at them.
“What is wrong with you?”
“This is your home.”
I rolled my eyes. “Whatever. Why did I need to come home urgently? You have till tomorrow morning to tell me because that is when I’m going back. I didn’t come with enough clothes.”
Quinn chuckled. “I thought you should have known better that you can’t beat us with the excuse that you don’t have enough clothes.”
“We will just buy you another.” Jack winked at me.
I shook my head, ignored them and went to my bedroom. I was back in time for lunch, smiling when I realized that I was at the table before Jack.
If only I could keep the same energy when we were a full family. I was so excited that I wasn’t the last person to make it to the table that I was full of smiles and I guessed that was the reason I made the stupid mistake that I did that day.
“You seem to be in a good mood now, sister.” John noted when he got to the table.
“You are late.” I replied instead.
John shrugged. “Oh! I had to stop by the restroom on my way here.”
I nodded. That explained why the others were at the table before him. I was shocked that they hadn’t waited for him to be done as they always moved together.
Whatever. He wasn’t with them and I wasn’t the last person at the table. That was the highlight of my day asides being here when I would rather be home watching movies on my laptop.
If only the others had waited for him, I would have been the first one at the table before anyone else.
Jack grinned, cocking his head at me. “You are happy because you aren’t the last at the table?”
I scoffed at him and looked away. He didn’t have to be intuitive like that.
John laughed, dishing the food on his plate. “Was that why you were happy? You could have just told us that you were not always happy to be the last on the table.”
I snorted at him. “What would you have done?”
“We would have stopped coming to the table before you did.”
Really? I looked at them in surprise. They would really wait for me to get to the table before they showed up.
They nodded. “Of course, we would have gladly done that for you, sister.”
I smiled. “Thanks.”
“Deal.” Jack nodded.
The bells in my head went off. What was that? Deal? I didn’t know that I had been involved in a deal with them.
They certainly could see the expression of confusion on my face as they all burst out laughing.
Jack chuckled. “Now that we have gotten that cleared out, I think you will agree with us that one good deed deserves another.”
“What do you want?”
“Our birthday is next week. We want you here.”
I frowned. I finally realized why they had made me come home. “I’m not an event planner.”
“You are our sister and as one, you are automatically our event planner and most valued guest.” Jack said.
“Don’t worry. We have the event planned, you just have to promise to be there.” Quinn informed me and I was glad that he did.
I didn’t think I knew much about planning any party, much more the one for three werewolf brothers that I was conflicted on how I felt about them. Sometimes, I hated them. Sometimes, I was fine with them.
I breathed in relief and John smirked as he stared at me. “Make sure you come with gifts though.” He added.
Gifts? I echoed in my head but they nodded, smiling at me as if they could hear me.
The day went by quickly and I was on my way home the next day, thinking of what to get for my brothers as gifts.
I got home and met Sasha reading a novel by her table. I was about to move out again after getting home when she stopped me.
“Where are you going? You just came back.”
I turned to her. “Oh! Next week is my brothers’ birthday and I promised to get them gifts. Tomorrow is Monday and I doubt that I would have the time to get the gifts during the week before I have to go.”
“Wow. That is exciting. Can I go with you?”
“To get the gifts?” That would be awesome. I could use a second opinion.
She smiled. “That and also to the birthday party.”
Poor soul. She had to be bored beyond her wits here that she was willing to go to a party that she wasn’t invited to. I didn’t think that she would be bored too much at the party that she would wander off just like she did then.
I would make sure that I keep my eyes on her and make sure that she didn’t have the time to move around to where she could be killed. I hoped that she would get to have a lot of fun at the party. That way, I could protect her.
“Sure. You can come with me. I will call my brothers that I’m bringing in another guest for them. I bet they will like that.”
She grinned as she hopped down from her seat. “Let’s go get the boys some badass gifts.”
I smiled at her words, already feeling that the shopping wasn’t going to be as boring and stressful as I had thought. I was glad that I had Sasha with me.
