Mia
I was looking for Sasha. I didn’t see her again all through the day and I wondered if she had gotten bored and left the party. I called her number but she wasn’t picking up her calls. I asked but no one knew when she left the party. It was as if she had become invisible. I laughed because I knew I was being ridiculous.
It wasn’t as if she had any supernatural powers like the dark wizard or could move at a faster speed like the triplets werewolves.
I was worried and wondered how she had gone home. It wasn’t as if there was any cab sitting around here that could have taken her home. Most of the people here had gotten here with their own car and the boys had arranged for some to be picked up. Sasha and I had gotten here in the ride the boys had sent for us. I looked at the guests all around and realized that nobody had left. They were all still grooving to the music and having fun.
Most of the guests were males and friends of the triplets. At first, I had thought that Sasha had hooked up with one of them when I didn’t see her but eventually I had to let go of that assumption when she was the only one missing from the party after a while.
She couldn’t have asked one of the guys to drive her home because they were still here. Where could she be?
My heart skipped a beat when I thought that she had gone to the cave and quickly dispelled the worry. We would have heard her scream just like I did if she had gone to the cave.
There had been no screams and I knew that wasn’t what had happened. She hadn’t been to the cave and that helped me to relax. I breathed a sigh of relief.
I wondered why she had wanted me to invite her to the party when she knew that she was going to keep to herself and watch as if she was forced to be there.
Maybe she wasn’t the party type but fantasized about being at one. It was possible that she hoped that she would be able to get over her lack of interest in parties one day if she kept attending.
I could totally relate to that feeling. I didn’t like guys too but I had been going on dates with them, especially my colleagues, hoping that one day, I was going to finally be able to be comfortable with them.
I guessed that was what happened with Sammy on the first outing we had and the recent one we had. That was what made the difference. I had gone on some dates, unlike the meagre total of what I had been on in the past that I was now comfortable enough to have fun with a guy.
I smiled at my theory. Damn, I was smart. I was certain that that was what happened to Sasha. She wanted to attend parties but she wasn’t free yet to be comfortable in one. That was why she had left.
I hoped that she got comfortable soon at parties so she wouldn’t be the odd one out. She really gave a sour vibe to those that saw her and stuck out like a sore thumb.
I was worried about her all through the party even though the triplets wouldn’t let me do enough of that with the way they dragged my attention to everything about them. They had forced me to sit with them and even though I had asked Sasha to join us so she wouldn’t be lonely without me, she had said she was fine and insisted on sitting alone at the back.
I frowned, feeling guilty for letting her feel bored. Maybe I should have insisted that she followed me to where I was seated.
I thought of a way that she could have decided to get home, without asking the guys for a ride. It was possible that she had decided to take a walk from here, hoping to get to the road and find a cab there.
I felt bad about that as I knew that she wasn’t going to find any cab there soon. This place was well isolated and I didn’t think she could walk that far till she saw a cab. She would have gotten tired.
My countenance had changed and everyone could see it. I didn’t bother to hide. I wanted people to see it and ask what was wrong with me. I wanted people to ask me what was wrong with me and maybe they will have information for me when I told them of the person that I was looking for.
The party had ended and everyone was going back home. I let the celebrants deal with their guests and exchange farewells and pleasantries with them while I dialed Sasha’s phone for the thousandth time that evening.
What was wrong with her? Was she fine? Even if she was trekking and had her phone in her bag, she should still be able to receive calls. Had she put her phone on silence mode? Was her phone battery down?
I was worried of a lot of things and I prayed that she didn’t collapse on the way. I didn’t think that I was going to be able to rest tonight until I knew if she was fine.
I had a thought and was about to move to the triplets to tell them of it when they came over to me.
I had my worries on my face and the triplets were really conscious of how I felt that it would be a miracle if they didn’t notice how distressed I felt at that moment.
“Hey, sis. What is going on with you?” Jack asked, wrapping his hand around my neck.
I was too strung up to bother to push him off and allow him start teasing me about how uptight I was. If I didn’t know better, I would have wondered if he was drunk but he wasn’t. They didn’t get drunk. I had been surprised when they had told me that. What lucky bastards. He was just excited about his birthday.
“I’m looking for my friend.”
“Sasha?” John asked.
“The one you came with?” Quinn asked.
“Your roommate?” Jack asked.
I rolled my eyes at them in annoyance. Did they have to repeat what I had said? How many friends had I come with that they were asking me if it was Sasha that I was looking for? Who else would I be looking for?
“Yes.” I answered all the same, stamping down on the annoyance that was beginning to unfurl in me.
“Have you called her?”
“Yes.” I said, waving my phone up and showing them how I’ve been trying hard to call her. “She is not picking up.”
Jack sighed. “Why would she leave without telling anyone? That is so irresponsible of her.”
I scowled. “I didn’t tell you this to crucify her with your words and wonder if she is responsible or not.”
“Why did you call us then?”
“I want to look for her.”
“Go then.” Quinn said, waving his towards the gate.
I arched my eyebrows, scoffing as I glanced at him. “I’m serious here and I don’t need your sarcasm.”
“Why do you think I’m the one not being serious? Your friend left without a word and regard for us, why should I bother with her?”
I scowled and turned away from him. Even though I knew he was right, I wasn’t going to think about that now. I would rebuke Sasha on my own terms when I found her so I had to find her first.
I turned to John and Jack. “Would you please help me find her? I think she is on her way, trekking and hoping to find a cab. We can catch up with her and take her home.”
Jack snorted. “I would say she is stupid if she thinks that she can trek to where she can get a cab around here. Was she in a blindfold when you were coming here? She has been here twice and thinks the distance is a joke.”
I sighed. My only hope was John and I looked at him, my eyes pleading with him. I didn’t have a car yet and couldn’t go in search of her all alone. I hoped he wouldn’t decide to join his brothers and make the same decision as they always moved together.
“Guys, be nice.” John reprimanded his brothers. He turned to me. “I will help you.”
“Thank you.” I breathed in relief.
It would have been awkward but I wanted to fly at him and give him a hug with how relieved I was.
He nodded. “Let’s go.”
We got to his car and the other brothers watched as we drove away. I looked at both sides of the road as John drove but I didn’t see Sasha walking along it, tired and dusty as I had hoped.
I didn’t think she could have gotten home that soon but I didn’t want to leave any stone unturned. I pleaded with John to drive me to our house and he agreed.
I rushed to our apartment and was shocked to find it locked. Sasha wasn’t home yet and she wasn’t on the road either. Where could she be? She couldn’t have been kidnapped, could she?
I walked back to where John was parked, my thoughts rambling as I wondered where she was.
I slipped into the car and he turned to me, his eyes filled with concern. I was touched at the look in his eyes.
“Did you find her?”
“No.”
“Maybe she had another appointment and left with that person.”
I shrugged. I didn’t think that she could have described where we lived to someone who hadn’t been there before and no one else at the party had been missing except for her.
I didn’t tell John that. I nodded instead, agreeing to what he had said. It was possible that she had left earlier before I noticed her and was picked up on the road by someone who wasn’t at the party.
“Maybe.” I replied. “Let’s go back home.”
We got home. Jack and Quinn had already cleared out the whole place. No one could have thought that we had a party there.
“Did you find her?” Quinn asked.
John shook his head. “No. She isn’t home either.”
Quinn hissed. “I’m glad I hadn’t wasted my time searching for a lady who could have gone for a lay. I found a better thing to use my time for.” He said, pointing at the neat field.
“Don’t talk about her like that.” I hissed at him.
“Or what?” He hissed back, moving closer to me. “You want to hit me?”
I breathed, wondering what had gotten over him. He was spoiling for a fight and wasn’t going to have it with me.
Jack and John looked at each other and chuckled. “Stop it, Quinn.”
John turned away, glancing towards the gate and gasped. “Dad?”
Albert? I gasped in surprise as I saw him run inside. What was he doing here? We weren’t expecting him. He hadn’t even told us that they would be arriving soon.
I had called my mum two days ago and she didn’t tell me anything of their arrival. If they were planning to come back home, they could have been here for the birthday party of the triplets.
I looked back to see if my mum was with him and tagging behind but I couldn’t find her.
Albert had come alone without my mum and he seemed to be in great distress.
