Mia
What was wrong with Quinn? He had behaved rudely to my colleague, dragged me off to his car against my wish and was now behaving like a kidnapper, strapping me into the seat without me agreeing that I was going anywhere with him.
He had a long thing coming in for him if he thought that I was going to go anywhere with him. Where was he even taking me to?
What brought about Sammy in this conversation when I was only trying to stop him from shackling me into a seat I didn’t want to be in?
“What is wrong with you?” I asked him again.
He had been avoiding my questions. I had been shouting at him all the way to the car, barraging him with questions that I had feared I would wake up the neighbors. Regardless of how much I shouted, he didn’t answer.
He seemed intent on getting me to the car and I had also kept quiet because I didn’t want to make a fool of myself.
Maybe he was going to answer me now that we were in the car.
I pushed him off as he tried to put the seatbelt on me and glared at him, my hands folded on my chest as I showed him that I was daring him to try to put his hands on me again.
He snorted at me. “Shouldn’t I be asking you that? What are you doing? You haven’t been home in ages.”
“Because I didn’t have any reason to be home.” I replied to him.
“Not even for us?” He looked surprised. “Are you not even bothered about your brothers?”
I didn’t even flinch when I replied to him. “Especially for you. You keep insisting that we are family but we are only family on paper. We are not related by blood so I don’t know why you think my heart has to be moved on your behalf.”
“Ouch.” He winced. “You are quite the mean one, aren’t you?”
I chuckled. “You don’t really act in a way that makes me want to be nice to you.”
He seemed to know what I was referring to and bowed his head in regret and let out a sigh. “I’m sorry about tonight.”
“Why did you do it?” I scowled at him.
I hated it when people did what wasn’t good and thought that they could clear it off with a simple apology. That wasn’t going to work.
“Who is Sammy to you?” He asked me instead of replying to what I had asked him.
I stared at him in surprise. “How is that your business?”
He snickered, an amused male smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. “Until when do you want to deny the attraction between us, Mia?”
Was he nuts? My expression as I stared at him said all what was on my mind and he seemed to have read it as he burst into laughter.
“What? Mia?” He called out to me. “Am I lying? You can’t tell me that you don’t think of kissing me right now.” He said, staring at my lips.
I gasped. I knew that he was blunt but not like this. He couldn’t be serious, I thought, but as I stared at him, I realized that he wasn’t joking. He meant everything that he said.
“Why would I be attracted to you?”
“Why wouldn’t you be?” He said with full male confidence, full of himself.
“Because you are my brothers.” I winced as I said the words.
He laughed. “Now you know that we are your brothers. I thought we were only related on paper and not by blood so I don’t see any reason why you can’t have your heart stirred up because of us. Why can’t you be attracted to us?”
I winced at his words. It wasn’t a nice feeling having your words thrown back into your face. He had used my words to attack me and that wasn’t cool.
I didn’t have a say to that. He had me and he knew it.
“I’m not attracted to you.” I blurted out, blushing as I said it.
What was that? Why would he think that? Why would he say that? Why would he put that into my head?
Goodness. That was a weird feeling to have. To know that your brother had a crush on you. A nagging thought in my head reminded me of his words that I wasn’t their sister as I always insisted.
My mother was only married to their father and we didn’t share any blood. Was there any reason we couldn’t be attracted to each other?
What? I gasped at the thought in my head. What was I thinking? This was preposterous. I blamed Quinn for putting that insane idea in my head.
As usual, I had a tough time masking my emotions and he could read the emotions on my face. He could tell that he had me and his face betrayed his amusement.
“What do you think?”
“I think you are crazy.” I hissed at him. “Let me out of this car.”
He scoffed and started the car. “You are coming back on Sunday. You should spend the weekend with us. Your brothers miss you so you should stop avoiding them.” He said, laying emphasis on the word brothers in a way that I couldn’t miss the sarcasm in what he had said.
Damn him. I growled at him but he was laughed. The silly bastard. I could tell that he was having fun at my expense.
“You are not going to let me out of this car, are you?”
He smirked, arching his eyebrows at me. “What do you think?”
I didn’t have to think. I knew he wasn’t going to get me out of the car.
“I don’t have clothes at home.” I lied in an attempt for him to get myself out of the weekend holiday I didn’t want to be in.
He chuckled. “Nice try. We will buy you clothes when we get home.”
I winced. There flew out my escape excuse. I watched as he started the car and with a sigh, I strapped myself into the seat belt, not so eager to see the rest of my annoying brothers.
