Quinn
I had never felt this much envious of anyone in my life. I was angry, jealous and feeling all shades of emotions that I had always considered distasteful. I was worked up beyond emotions and I didn’t like it.
As a werewolf who had grown up among humans, I had a fair share of self-esteem and believed that I was better than them. I had everything I wanted and didn’t believe that there was ever going to be something that a human could have that I didn’t have.
I had the good looks, intelligence, money and anything else you might want to name but for the first time in my supernatural years of living, I felt like all those were not enough and was envious of a human.
I didn’t think that I was ever going to be jealous of a mere human but I did tonight and that was surprising to me. It was all because of Mia. I hissed at myself, scowling for losing control of my emotions. I was always in control, cold, unmovable but that didn’t apply anywhere Mia was. She always made me lose my cool and I wondered how she did it.
Was it because I liked her too much? That had to be it, and also why I had been mad at the human male.
It had been a great struggle for me to not snap his neck as we were there.
I had left the house, not planning for any of this shit. I had only wanted to ask Mia why she was intent on avoiding us. She had left home immediately after the wedding and hadn’t been back after that, not even for the weekends that she rarely missed.
It had been a rude shock to find out that she didn’t care about us at all, not one bit and was always home because of her mother.
We all missed her, mostly as there was nothing to keep us entertained in that isolated town when we were the only ones in the house. I had left the house, wondering if I could cajole and convince her to come home with me for the weekend.
I had driven all the way to the city with hope in my heart only to get to her apartment and be told by her roommate that she wasn’t around.
I had tried to find out from her where Mia had gone to but she didn’t speak up. Frustrated with her, I had left the room and decided to wait for her thinking that she had only taken a stroll through the street.
I was already worried when I stood there for an hour and she wasn’t back. I had been scared that something had happened to her and was about to go in search of her when I saw her walking in with a guy.
I could hear her laughter all the way from the gate to where I was and I was enraged. I didn’t have to be a genius to know that she had gone on a date with the guy.
At that moment, I felt like shit as I stared at her, getting mad at the guy who had Mia all to himself when I could barely get her to sit with me. What had she been doing with the guy all night?
Had he hugged her? Wrapped his hands around what was mine? Had she hugged him back? The two of them were moving closer and I could see them clearly than I had seen them minutes ago.
She was smiling at him and my hands tightened into fists. She should be smiling at me and not some other guy who was not part of the family. She should be with me and not out late with one guy.
I could see that the guy wanted her from the way he looked at her. Even though his hands weren’t around her as I had feared, I was still mad at him. He didn’t have any business taking her out that late. I checked the time on my phone and grimaced. It was late. This was ten in the night and Mia should be safely tucked in her bed and not out there cruising around town with some guy at places I didn’t know they had been to.
I was reminded that I was jealous of a human, unlike myself and my anger was roused. That explained why I acted the way I did to him.
What did she say? That I was always in a bad mood? I scowled. That insolent girl.
We got to the car and I opened the door to the passenger seat and pushed her in. I didn’t leave her with much choice and she went in though she tried to struggle her way out of it but I was stronger than she was.
I moved to the driver seat with superior speed so she wouldn’t have a chance to get down and go back. She didn’t even try to open the car.
I guessed she knew that she couldn’t run as fast as I could and I was only going to bundle her back into the car. I was glad she was smart and didn’t stress the two of us.
“What is wrong with you?” She turned to me when I got to the driver’s seat.
I leaned forward to help her strap her seat belt on but she pushed me away.
“What are you doing?”
I snorted. “I bet you didn’t push Sammy away when he made advances to you this night.”
She didn’t have to make me say that. I felt petty for letting those words escape from my mouth and sighed. I had messed up.
She rolled her eyes and snorted back at me. “I didn’t have to push Sammy away because he didn’t make any advances towards me.”
He didn’t? I felt a mixture of happiness and relief run through my bloodstream. I could almost forgive Sammy for taking her out and felt bad for the way I had treated him.
I decided that I was going to treat him nicely if I saw him again and hopefully, it wouldn’t be when he was with Mia. I didn’t think that I was going to be civil to him if I saw him with Mia.
