“Flynn…”
Harriet saw Flynn enter the room, and her pent-up grievances burst forth as she started to sob uncontrollably.
Flynn had planned to take them out to the rest area to check on Stephanie’s health. Seeing Harriet crying like a weeping pear blossom, he went straight into the private room and approached her.
“Flynn, this… this is my best friend, Stephanie…”
“Stephanie, this is my cousin’s classmate… I mentioned him to you yesterday…”
Harriet’s voice trembled with sobs, making it hard for her to catch her breath.
Stephanie nodded at Flynn.
“What happened?” Flynn sat down in a chair, scanned the room, and asked Stephanie.
Harriet was Odin’s sister and his secretary. A few days ago, she even acknowledged him as her brother. And now she was crying because of someone?
Stephanie briefly explained the situation. The others in the room paid no attention to Flynn and continued their conversations.
Clinton kept clinking glasses with everyone, acting as if Flynn didn’t exist. He knew Odin from college when Odin often visited Harriet. To Clinton, Flynn looked like a laborer with calloused hands. He didn’t have a single piece of expensive clothing or the aura of a wealthy person. His fingers were rough and calloused, his skin coarse, and veins bulged on his arms-just like Odin, probably doing manual labor.
What did it matter if it was true or not? What did it matter if Harriet was falsely accused? He posed no threat!
“Mr. Clark, that’s what happened. Harriet was bullied by them; you must seek justice for her!” Stephanie said angrily.
Harriet had introduced Flynn yesterday, saying he was very influential and a guest at many wealthy families’ homes. Even Niarak King feared him. They could insult her all they wanted because being a mistress was indeed true. But what had Harriet done wrong? She was a victim from the start!
“Flynn, let’s go. Clinton works for Frederick…” Harriet wiped away her tears and stood up. Unlike Stephanie, she didn’t want Flynn to get into trouble for her sake. Eight Extremities School was already looking for trouble with Energence Pharmaceuticals; she didn’t want to give them more ammunition.
Flynn’s face turned extremely cold as he pulled Harriet back down and said icily, “Before your tears dry, I want to see those who insulted you apologize.”
The chatter in the room ceased abruptly as everyone grew angry.
“We spoke the truth; why should we apologize?”
“You want to cause trouble here? Do you even know who Clinton is? He’s Mr. Powell’s right-hand man!”
“Don’t act tough here; get out of this room!”
Flynn remained unmoved, ignoring everyone as he poured himself a glass of water and then checked Stephanie’s pulse.
Elliana stood up abruptly and pointed at Flynn. “My husband is hosting today; you have no right to drink this water!”
Flynn raised an eyebrow and glanced at her. “I remember Spring Blossom Tower’s dishes are quite expensive; this table must cost over thirty thousand dollars.”
Elliana smirked proudly. “That’s right! The dishes cost twenty-seven thousand dollars, three bottles of red wine five thousand dollars, and my husband just ordered ten more dishes-totaling thirty-five thousand dollars!”
“This place doesn’t welcome you; get out!”
Flynn shook his head and sneered coldly. “Your husband really makes you proud!”
Elliana boasted arrogantly, “You’re right! He paid for everything just because I came to this reunion!”
“We don’t steal or rob; unlike some people who had to sleep around multiple times just to get three houses worth a million dollars!”
“Clinton earned his money through hard work; spending it makes us proud!”
Flynn’s eyes turned cold as he stared at Elliana’s ring. “If he’s so generous, why couldn’t he buy you a real diamond ring?”
A genuine natural pink diamond has a light pink hue with high purity. Dyed pink diamonds have uneven color distribution and are slightly darker-not pure in color. Elliana’s ring was dyed pink diamond or even glass!
Ordinary people might not notice the color difference, but Flynn could tell at a glance.
What did that mean? Elliana’s diamond ring was fake?
Everyone’s eyes fell on Elliana’s hand, even Julianne, who had been silent until now.
Clinton’s face showed a flash of panic as his gaze turned cold.
Elliana froze for a moment before erupting in anger. “Nonsense! This diamond ring was bought by Clinton at a jewelry exhibition for one hundred thirty thousand dollars!”
“Have you ever seen a pink diamond? How dare you talk nonsense here!”
Clinton said this pink diamond weighed one carat and was the cheapest at the jewelry exhibition but still cost one hundred thirty thousand dollars. Elliana believed him completely.
“Why would Clinton buy Elliana a fake diamond ring when he earns millions annually?” one of Elliana’s friends questioned loudly.
Flynn remained calm as he wrote Stephanie’s prescription without looking up. “Does having money directly relate to generosity?”
“A billionaire who doesn’t like someone won’t spend a penny on them.”
“A person in debt would borrow money to make their loved one happy.”
“Clinton doing this shows he just wants to play with you; he thinks you’re not worth spending an extra cent on.”
“Bullshit!” Elliana raged at Flynn. “You see us targeting Harriet and can’t defend her, so you’re trying to sow discord between me and Clinton! You’re tarnishing our love!”
“If you don’t give me an explanation for this, I’ll make sure you leave here horizontally!”
Flynn replied calmly, “Want an explanation? It’s simple! Diamonds are very hard; glass isn’t. Just smash it once to tell the difference.”
He remained calm but Harriet knew that a storm raged in Flynn’s eyes-ready to explode any moment!
“You want to smash my diamond ring? What if it breaks? Can you afford it?” Elliana thought Flynn was mocking her and got furious.
Flynn sneered coldly, “How can I not afford something worth ten bucks?”
Everyone turned to look at Elliana:
“It’s okay Elliana; let him smash it-we can testify!”
“If the setting gets damaged and he doesn’t pay up, we’ll make Harriet pay!”
“Smash it! We have nothing to fear!”
Clinton panicked upon hearing this and yelled at Flynn: “Kid, are you looking for death?”
“This is our class reunion-what business do you have here?”
“Do you have to disgust us to feel satisfied?”
“If you’ve got guts, step outside! I’ll break your teeth!”
Clinton began sweating nervously; he hadn’t expected Flynn to fixate on that pink diamond!
His only option now was to force Flynn outside for a fight-to create chaos and divert everyone’s attention!
However, Flynn ignored Clinton completely and grabbed Elliana’s hand, pulling off her ring. He then picked up a plate and smashed it against the ring.
With a loud bang-the plate remained intact while the pink diamond shattered into pieces…
