Chapter 495: Clinton’s Emotional Performance

Book:A King Reborn in Shadows Published:2024-7-4

“Harriet is scared to confront Clinton and wants to leave!”
“Slandering someone and then running away, how is that fair?”
“She’s not just scared of the confrontation. Seeing Clinton doing so well, she can’t face anyone!”
Seeing Harriet trying to leave, everyone started mocking her.
Stephanie’s face turned livid, and she shouted:
“What nonsense are you all spouting? Clinton’s behavior is disgusting; is there a problem if Harriet doesn’t want to see him?”
Elliana spread her arms and retorted:
“If we’re talking about disgusting, no one can surpass you two-a gossip and a mistress!”
Harriet’s tears flowed like rain, her face turning red with sobs.
Clearly, Clinton and another person had conspired to cheat her out of money, yet they turned the tables on her, making the victim apologize. She felt extremely wronged.
The vice class president Julianne approached Harriet with an apologetic tone: “I’m sorry. I thought everyone had reconciled. I didn’t expect Elliana to bring it up again.”
“Let’s leave for now. I’ll treat you another day.”
After saying this, she turned to Elliana:
“Stay or leave as you wish, let them go.”
She had seen through Elliana’s character. Sharp-tongued in school and even worse now. She was aggressive and loved showing off. No wonder she insisted on having the gathering at Spring Blossom Tower; turns out Clinton was there too! Trying to flaunt how well she’s doing with Clinton? Disgusting!
Elliana laughed at Julianne’s words and shook her head: “Old class president, we’ve all graduated. How can you still order people around?”
“Your way doesn’t work here anymore!”
“Today, if they don’t apologize, no one leaves!”
Julianne was taken aback by Elliana’s words, almost choked by them, her face turning livid.
Her words no longer held any weight!
Everyone felt awkward.
The big sister of their university days was actually rejected by Elliana!
“And if we insist on leaving?” Stephanie picked up a nearby wine bottle, her face darkened.
She grew up in a rural area in a family that favored boys over girls and was raised like a boy herself. Her temper wasn’t good. If not for feeling inferior due to being a mistress once, she would have acted earlier. Even a clay figure has some fire; Elliana’s constant slander had pushed her too far!
“Hit me? Go ahead! Try it!” Elliana sneered, provocatively extending her head forward.
“Stephanie…” Harriet held down the wine bottle in Stephanie’s hand, shaking her head while crying.
At that moment, a voice came from the door.
“Oh! What’s going on here? Had too much to drink?”
A man walked in.
He wore a neat suit, his hair slicked back, with a gold chain around his neck and a watch on his wrist.
As soon as he entered, his eyes fell on the wine bottle in Stephanie’s hand, a cold glint flashing across his insincere smile.
“Clinton~” Elliana called out sweetly as she moved to his side.
“Wow! Haven’t seen Clinton in two years; he’s even more handsome now!”
“Yeah, Clinton was the heartthrob of our class back then; I even had a crush on him!”
“Elliana is so lucky to have such a boyfriend. The diamond ring, necklace, and watch she’s wearing must all be gifts from Clinton. I’m so jealous!”
Seeing Clinton enter, everyone started praising the couple endlessly.
“I’m just making a living; these things we’re wearing aren’t worth much-just over a million dollars in total!” Clinton said modestly but with an air of bragging.
“Is there some conflict here? Why does everyone look so unhappy?”
Hearing this, Elliana pointed at Harriet:
“I asked them to apologize for what happened back then. Stephanie refused and even wanted to hit me with a wine bottle!”
Only then did Clinton notice Harriet with her head down. His face suddenly showed sadness as he shook his head bitterly:
“Sigh! It’s all in the past; why bring it up?”
“It was just misplaced trust back then.”
“But luckily I met Elliana later. She gave my wounded heart something to lean on; otherwise, I wouldn’t have gotten over it by now.”
“Of course, Harriet pursuing her happiness is understandable. There’s no right or wrong here; let’s not talk about it anymore.”
Clinton’s acting was top-notch.
Speaking emotionally with tears in his eyes and looking very pained, he sighed repeatedly.
In an instant, he made himself look like the victim while Harriet became the villain.
“You can tell Clinton really loved Harriet back then. It’s heartbreaking to see such deep affection betrayed.”
“Clinton, it’s not worth being sad over someone like that. Luckily she left you; otherwise, she would have cheated on you too! Once cheap always cheap!”
“You woman who has been with countless men, hurry up and apologize to Clinton and get lost!”
Everyone was moved by Clinton’s “deep affection” and started blaming Harriet one after another.
Seeing Clinton say these things made Harriet feel utterly desperate; her shoulders trembled with sobs.
Even an animal would show gratitude if you spent three thousand dollars on it!
She didn’t expect him to clear up the truth but at least not say such disgusting things!
Stephanie and Julianne both shook their heads.
In this situation, any words would be powerless and unable to change the tide of opinion.
Clinton saw the crowd getting riled up and glanced at Harriet with a barely noticeable smirk.
Stupid woman, see this?
This is what you get for not letting me have my way back then!
If you wouldn’t let me have my way, why waste time on you?
Damn it! If I hadn’t wasted a year on you in college, I could have hooked up with five more women!
But it’s fine now; breaking up with you led me to become Elliana’s boyfriend.
And I’ve hooked up with eight more women behind her back since then.
When Elliana mentioned this reunion today, how could I miss such an opportunity?
There are plenty of beauties in our class; I’ll add them on Facebook later and invite some of them for some “catching up.” It’ll be great!
Clinton scanned the room full of classmates and couldn’t help but smile inwardly.
“Sigh! Let bygones be bygones,” Clinton wiped away fake tears and said gratefully:
“Thanks for everyone’s concern. I’ll cover today’s meal and order some more dishes and good wine!”
Displaying wealth is the best way to attract women.
Even women who claim to be virtuous will open their legs if enough money is thrown their way.
This belief had always worked for Clinton.
Sure enough, female classmates cheered one after another and raised their glasses to toast him.
Meals at Spring Blossom Tower weren’t cheap; each meal could cost twenty or thirty thousand dollars easily. Splitting it would still be around three thousand per person. Despite their outward appearances of affluence, most of them were just boasting; none of them earned more than ten thousand dollars monthly salary-wise.
Seeing Clinton being so generous made them admire him even more; they couldn’t help but flirt with him through glances.
As everyone was drinking merrily together, the door suddenly opened again. Flynn appeared at the entrance.
He smiled politely and was about to ask Harriet and Stephanie to come out when he noticed Harriet’s tear-streaked face and red eyes. His expression immediately darkened!
