The room fell silent as everyone stared at the pink glass shards on the table.
“The plate is fine, but the pink diamond… shattered?”
“If it were a real diamond, the plate would have broken, not a single crack…”
It became clear that Elliana’s diamond ring was not a real diamond. True diamonds are harder than rocks; how could it be smashed to powder by a plate?
Elliana had been wearing a glass ring for a year?
Everyone glanced at Elliana, then at Clinton, their expressions turning strange and the atmosphere becoming awkward.
Flynn said nothing, picked up a napkin, and swept the glass shards off the table onto the floor.
Clinton’s face twitched, his expression fluctuating between anger and embarrassment.
Elliana stared at Clinton in shock, her eyes slowly filling with fury.
“What’s going on? Didn’t you say you spent tens of thousands on this ring? And it’s just glass?” Elliana asked through gritted teeth, her face darkening.
This ring was her pride and joy; she adored it so much that she would admire it every night before bed. She loved it more each time she looked at it.
At events, others would always look at her with envy.
And now it turned out to be made of glass!
Worth less than a hundred dollars!
Clinton, who had been confident and carefree moments ago, now felt his face burn with shame. He couldn’t even lift his head.
“Clinton, were you scammed?”
Someone couldn’t help but ask.
This question seemed to give Clinton an idea. His expression brightened as he lifted his head and shouted:
“Unbelievable! I spent tens of thousands, and the jewelry store manager gave me a fake diamond ring. He’s finished! I’ll tell Mr. Powell about this; I won’t let him get away with it!”
Clinton slammed his hand on the table in anger, his face contorted with rage.
“I knew it! Clinton earns millions a year; there’s no way he’d buy fake goods for Elliana. He must have been scammed!”
“That manager dared to fool Clinton? He deserves to be punished! Doesn’t he know Clinton is Mr. Powell’s favorite?”
“Scammers are despicable! It’s just a watch worth tens of thousands; Clinton wouldn’t buy fakes!”
The classmates defended Clinton unanimously, convinced he had been tricked.
Elliana felt slightly better hearing this. She shot Clinton a glare and said coolly:
“Even if you earn millions a year, money doesn’t grow on trees. Be more careful next time.”
Though she said this, her eyes no longer held the trust they once did. She suspected something was wrong with the ring story.
Tens of thousands!
Diamonds come with certificates; it’s hard to deceive someone with one.
But what could she do now?
She couldn’t confront him in front of their classmates!
That would ruin both Clinton’s and her own reputation.
Flynn sneered and said, “It’s not about being careful; your man is practically blind!”
“Are you crazy? If you can’t find fault with Clinton, don’t start insulting people!” Elliana snapped at Flynn. Just as she was about to call Clinton to throw Flynn out, Flynn grabbed the gold bracelet from her wrist.
Flynn ran his fingers over the bracelet twice, causing the gold paint to peel off and reveal brass underneath.
The bracelet was merely gold-plated brass!
Everyone was stunned again.
Speechless!
Elliana had just boasted about this bracelet costing sixty thousand dollars and being designed by a famous designer. The cloud patterns on it were beautiful. Who would have thought it was brass?
A brass bracelet worth less than a hundred dollars!
If the ring was a scam, what about the bracelet?
Was that also a scam?
How blind could Clinton be?
“And this watch,” Flynn continued as the room grew increasingly tense. “How does Clinton explain this? An eighty-thousand-dollar Omega gold watch? It’s fake too!”
Flynn took Elliana’s watch and scratched it twice with his fingernail. The gold paint peeled off again, revealing stainless steel beneath.
Elliana’s eyes widened in shock just as Flynn smashed the watch on the ground with a loud “bang!” He stomped on it, scattering its plastic parts everywhere.
Plastic!
An authentic Omega watch movement could never be plastic!
Even watches worth hundreds are made of metal!
Let alone an eighty-thousand-dollar Omega!
This counterfeit cost less than a hundred dollars!
Fake ring!
Fake bracelet!
Fake watch!
Not a single genuine item!
Together they weren’t worth even a thousand dollars!
Elliana had claimed they were worth over twenty thousand?
The atmosphere reached peak awkwardness as everyone exchanged glances, unsure what to say next.
Flynn had exposed all of Clinton’s deceit in one fell swoop.
He had mercilessly slapped Elliana in the face.
“Clinton! How dare you deceive me! I’ve been with you for two years and had two abortions for you, and this is how you repay me?” Elliana’s face turned ashen with rage; she trembled uncontrollably, her lips turning purple.
Clinton’s face went pale; he was utterly humiliated. “You blame me for those abortions? You didn’t want to use protection!”
Everyone was stunned into silence.
Clinton had just blurted out their private matters without hesitation!
Elliana wished she could find a hole to crawl into; she was so angry her eyes rolled back.
Julianne shook her head repeatedly; she couldn’t believe how chaotic this class reunion had become.
Ridiculous!
Embarrassing!
Laughable!
Stephanie watched coldly from the side, feeling somewhat vindicated by Flynn’s actions.
She fully supported Flynn’s approach.
These two deserved to lose face completely!
Clinton regretted his words immediately and glared at Flynn angrily.
Flynn had provoked him into saying something so reckless!
Now that he had lost all dignity, he needed to regain it somehow!
Otherwise, he would become everyone’s laughingstock!
“Elliana,” Clinton began pitifully. “I have my reasons for doing this. We’re about to get married soon. I wanted to save money for your grand wedding.”
“I recently found a house worth over five hundred thousand dollars. I wanted to save up to buy it for you!”
“Watches and rings are just accessories; houses and cars are necessities!”
Clinton explained with feigned grievance.
Flynn scoffed and shook his head:
“You sure know how to save money. That watch you’re wearing is from Hermes’ Arceau series-24K gold with sapphire crystal and an alligator leather strap-worth around twelve thousand dollars.”
“The necklace around your neck is from Tiffany & Co., valued at eight thousand dollars.”
“The jade ring on your hand is set in 18K gold with natural diamonds-over thirteen thousand dollars.”
“Your entire outfit costs over forty thousand dollars. Some savings plan!”
Everyone’s eyes turned to Clinton again, making him feel even more nervous. He pulled down his sleeves to cover his ring protectively.
This action only made everyone believe Flynn even more.
“Take off your watch and ring!” Elliana demanded furiously as she reached for them herself.
Clinton panicked completely; sweat appeared on his forehead as he pleaded:
“Elliana, let’s go home first! I’ll explain everything there…”
“Give them here!” Elliana forcibly removed Clinton’s watch and ring.
Clinton tried to snatch them back but failed as Elliana took up a knife and fork and scratched the Hermes watch surface.
The scratch revealed pure gold beneath-consistent with its surface color-confirming its authenticity beyond doubt.
Elliana flared her nostrils in anger before throwing down the watch and smashing it with a chair.
“Bam!”
Mechanical parts flew everywhere-the movement gleamed golden yellow inside-a genuine piece without question.
Flynn smirked coldly at Elliana’s actions mimicking his own destruction of fake items earlier without realizing that Hermes watches have serial numbers traceable online for verification purposes anyway-but why should he care?
Let her do whatever she wants!
“Have you lost your mind?” Clinton shouted when he saw his beloved watch shattered into pieces-his eyes bulging out in rage.
“Yes! I’ve gone mad!”
Seeing that both items were real drove Elliana insane-she grabbed another plate aiming straight at her diamond ring again-
Crash!
The plate broke into several pieces while leaving her diamond unscathed.
Everyone gasped at Elliana’s drastic measures-
Solid gold movement-
Diamond hard as steel-
Clinton wore luxury items worth tens of thousands yet bought cheap imitations for Elliana…
