Mia’s POV
I stepped back in surprise, stunned by his words. “What do you mean by that?” I asked, jealousy and confusion raging inside me. “Did you disrespect her?” He asked, his expression stern. I scoffed in disbelief. “Was that what she told you?”
Alpha Ricardo remained silent for a moment before responding. “You should show her some respect and keep your distance. After all, she will be the lady of the mansion,” he said, and without waiting for a response, he teleported away.
My heart squeezed in my chest as his words reverberated through my head.
”The lady of the mansion.”His words buzzed in my head, adding more to my misery.
”What are you doing?” I asked myself and stood to my feet. I was supposed to be happy with the situation. All I ever wanted was to leave and never see him, and now that it might happen, I was having different feelings about it.
”You are falling for him.” My wolf whispered in my head, causing me to scoff in disbelief. ”I’m not in love with him and will never be,” I spoke firmly and left my room.
I took the stairs and arrived in the sitting room where I met Alpha Ricardo and Lady Golden, having a conversation. ”You are here, I was just about to call you.”Alpha Ricardo said, gesturing me to come to them.
I wanted to ignore him and walk away, but Lady Golden was with him, and I didn’t want to act disrespectful towards him.
With a deep breath, I walked and got to them. ”How can I help you?” I asked with folded arms.
Alpha Ricardo hesitated for a moment before speaking, ”You should vacate your room. Lady Golden wishes to stay in it.” He said, his voice firm and cold.
”Excuse me?” I asked in disbelief.
”Come on, Mia, I’m a guest here, and all the guest rooms aren’t suitable for me. Besides, it’s just two months, and after that, I’ll get married to alpha Ricardo and will share his room.” She spoke with so much pride in her voice.
I shot Lady Golden a glare, then fixed my gaze on Alpha Ricardo. ”Are you for real?” I asked in disbelief, ”This has been my room for the past seven years. How do you expect me to give it up?” I spat out with rage boiling in me.
”Come on, Mia, don’t make it a big deal; it is not like you will stay here forever. Someday you are going to leave.” She spoke, getting me more furious. ”If anyone is gonna leave this mansion someday, then it’s definitely going to be you.” I blurted out with rage and walked out on them.
With anger boiling in me, I did not return to my room; instead, I left the sitting room, walked out of the entrance gate, and left the mansion.
With no destination in mind, I walked alone in the dark street until I spotted a nightclub a few steps away. I wanted to keep walking and go to either Rachael’s or Sarah’s home, but the thought of bothering them with my problems made me hesitate.
Left with no other option, I approached the nightclub, but the bouncers stopped me. ”The club is closed to the public,” one of the bouncers informed me, causing a heavy sigh to leave my lips.
As I was about to take my leave, one of the bouncers called out to me. ”Wait.” He said while listening to the pond in his ear. ”Roger that,” He told the person over the speaker and moved aside for me. ”You can go in,” He said, getting me confused.
”I thought you said it was not open to the public.” I asked, ”Yes, but you may go in,” He said, getting me more confused, ”On whose order?” I asked as I stepped away.
”On Lord Dickson’s order,” He responded, confusing me. ”Is he here?” I asked and got a nod from them.
”Let’s leave.” My wolf warned, but it fell on deaf ears. I knew I should go back home, but I didn’t want to see alpha Ricardo.
”Alright,” I said and walked to the door.
They opened the door and let me in.
As I stepped into the club, the bass of the music pulsed through my body, and the smell of fragrant perfume filled the air. The club was dimly lit, with neon lights illuminating the dance floor and a bar in the center of the room. The people here were a mix of all ages, genders, and backgrounds some were dancing, some were chatting, and others were just soaking in the atmosphere. The ladies were all wearing tight-fitting clothes, their hair carefully styled and make-up on point. The guys were dressed in trendy fashion, looking effortlessly cool. Some were sipping on cocktails or beer, some were snacking on fries, and there was even an area for playing pool. Everyone was having a great time, smiling and enjoying themselves. It was a vibrant and lively atmosphere, and I could tell it would be a great night.
”Come with me.” A guy dressed in a suit spoke, ”To where?” I asked, ”To a table, Lord Dickson will join you soon,” He said, getting me a bit scared and worried.
I was curious, wondering how Lord Dickson knew I would be in this place at a time like this.
”Come on,” he said, gesturing me to follow him.
I followed the guy in the suit quickly, feeling a sense of anticipation as I realized where he was leading me. After winding down several corridors, we arrived at a grand room with a table set in the center of it.
The man in the suit bowed politely and gestured to the table. “Take a seat. He will be with you shortly.”
I nodded, my heart pounding with fear as I sat behind the table. ”Do you want me to get you anything?” He asked, but I declined. I was already regretting my decision.
”I’ll be outside the door,” The man in a suit announced and exited the room.
With a nervous gulp, I stared around the room, searching for anything off, but I didn’t see any. ”We should leave.” My wolf warned me, but for strange reasons, I couldn’t.
Just when I was trying to process everything, the door opened, and Lord Dickson walked in, dressed in a navy-blue suit, with a cigar in one hand and a crystal glass of brandy in the other.
”I hope I did not keep you waiting,” He asked as he approached me. I didn’t give him a response. I just wanted to leave.
He sat across from me and unbuttoned two buttons on his jacket.
He looked different, different from the man I met a few hours ago.
”What would you like to have?” he asked, ”I would like to know how you knew I was here?” I questioned, ignoring his question.
”You were being followed,” He answered without a second thought. ”My men had been following you since the day we met at the party,” He announced and took a sip of his drink, getting me confused and worried.
”Why was I being followed?” I asked, tensed.
”Because you were sold to me,” He announced and took a long straw from his cigar.
”Sold to you?” I asked with confused eyebrows, ”By whom?” I asked, getting up on my feet. ”By him,” He responded, handing a phone to me.
”Have a look,” he said, gesturing me to take the phone.
”Let’s leave.” My wolf demanded, but I didn’t listen.
Reluctantly, I took the phone from him, and I realized a video was on the phone screen. ”Play it,” He said, and I did as told.
”The land will be mine if I hand her to you?” I saw alpha Ricardo asked, seated on an armchair. ”Yes, give her to me, and you will have all my lands in California.” Lord Dickson responded.
With panting breath, I watched alpha Ricardo go into a moment of thought before nodding his head. ”Very well then, she is all yours, not like she is worth anything to me,” he said, causing my heart to shatter.
”No!” I yelled and dropped the phone on the floor. ”This is impossible. I can’t be sold. He doesn’t own me, I’m just his mate, and that’s all.” I yelled and made my way to the door, but lord Dickson was quick to block my path.
”Hold on, young lady.” He spoke with a blank look, making it hard to guess his mood.
”You are mine, Mia, you will be my queen, and we will rule the hybrids together….” ”I’m not your queen,” I yelled and tried to go for the door, but he pushed me away.
”Stay calm. I don’t wanna do it the hard way,” He said.
”Let me go!” I yelled, my wolf howling in anger, waiting for me to shift into its form, but I wouldn’t do it because I knew I would be no match for him.
”You can scream and shout, but no one will hear you. This is my private party, and everyone here is my subject.” He chuckled, sending fear down my spine.
With panting breath, I stood and marched forward to him. ” Let me go!” I yelled with a plea. ”How can I do that, my little bird? You are now mine,” He said with a chuckle, sending cold shivers down my spine.
Out of impulse, I took out my fangs, got hold of Lord Dickson’s arm and bite hard. He yelled in pain and surprise, and I could sense his confusion before I pushed past him and ran out of the room.
I left the room and was relieved no one was at the door. Quickly, I ran down the hallway and arrived at the club, buzzing with loud music. With panting breath, I scanned around and noticed three men behind me coming my way.
”Run.” My wolf urged, pushing my feet forward.
I ran past the two men and out of the club, not even pausing to glance back. I could hear their feet pounding the pavement behind me, but their footsteps quickly faded away as I sprinted faster and further, putting as much distance between them and me as possible.
I continued running until I saw two men coming my way. They were both dressed in black charcoal suits, and without being told, I believed they were Lord Dickson’s men. ”Shit.” I blurted out in fear and turned around.
I ran down the street, sweat dripping from my forehead as I desperately tried to escape the two men in pursuit. My heart was pounding in my chest as I weaved in and out of the heavy foot traffic, but it seemed like they wouldn’t stop until they finally caught me.
As I lost hope, I spotted a slender alleyway that seemed like a perfect escape route. But, as luck would have it, a car sped around the corner, and before I could think of what to do, the car hit me, throwing me to the ground.
The last thing I saw before I fell unconscious was the worried look of the men and the inaudible whisper of Alpha Ricardo’s voice in my head asking me where I was. I felt arms wrap around my body before everything went black.
