Chapter 60 A decision to make

Alpha Ricardo’s POV
I emptied the bottle of whiskey into my mouth and smashed the empty bottle on the floor. With a groan, I stood to my feet and walked to the window. I inhaled deeply and perceived the fresh air coming from the garden downstairs.
”What will you do now that the seer has confirmed that the box in his hand is the actual box,” Eric asked, while I remained silent because I didn’t have a response.
I was damn confused and scared. Mia has gone through a lot. Firstly, she lost her mother, and then I maltreated and rejected her, and now I can’t let her lose her wolf and abilities; she might not survive it. ”Maybe you should tell her about it,” My wolf suggested, but I kicked against it, ”You heard what he said.” I groaned and walked back to the bed. I knew I was between the devil and the deep blue sea. Either I let Mia go, or she loses her wolf and abilities, and who knows what might happen to her.
With a frustrated sigh, I glared at the clock at my bedside and saw that it was almost 6 am. I rose from bed and began taking off my clothes. After that, I teleported and arrived in the woods. In a swift motion, I shifted comfortably into my wolf and allowed Eric to take control.
He raced through the woods while I pondered in thought, thinking of other ways to tackle this problem, but all the ideas that came to me were useless.
After racing through the woods for almost an hour, I shifted into my human form and teleported back to my room. When I got to my room, I walked straight to the bathroom, put on the cold shower, and stood in it. A sigh of relief left my lips as the cold water splashed on me. After bathing, I returned to my room, dried my body with a towel, and took out simple black jeans and a white turtleneck, long sleeves, followed by a black jacket.
After dressing up, I dried and gelled my hair before putting on my footwear. I teleported and arrived at the dining table where I met Mia, already seated, having breakfast. She lifted her head and held my gaze briefly before returning to her food. I took my seat while a maid offered to serve my meal, but I signaled her not to because I didn’t have an appetite. As she ate, I just sat there and stared at her from time to time. She acted like I wasn’t seated with her, tearing my heart into pieces. ”Why aren’t you eating?” She asked without looking my way, ”I’m not hungry.” I responded, and she shrugged her shoulders and went back to her food. I watched her eat slowly without looking my way until she finally stopped and dropped her spoon on her plate. She moved her gaze away from her food and looked my way. We held gaze with each other, and I could see her eyes were filled with curiousness. ”My wolf thinks your wolf is troubled….” She paused and thought for a second before she continued, ”Is there something wrong?” She asked while staring into my eyes like she was trying to pierce through my soul.
”Everything is fine.” I blurted out and stood at my feet, ”I have to go. I have a meeting with my gammas.” I told her and teleported away before she could say a word.
Within seconds, I arrived at the meeting hall, right behind my gammas, who were all seated in their seats.
With a deep breath, I walked to my seat, sat on it, and tiredly massaged my forehead. My head was pounding with aches, and I was doing my best not to show it.
”Greetings, alpha Ricardo.” They all greeted me, and I responded with a nod. The hall went silent until a gamma stood at his feet. ”We are in trouble,” He said, causing me to furrow my eyebrows, confused. ”What do you mean by that?” I asked but didn’t get his response; instead, all the gammas lowered their heads in fear, unable to look me in the face.
”What’s going on?” I demanded and saw gamma Austin gulped before finding his voice. ”We wanted to make it a surprise for you….” He gulped and stared at the other gammas, who gave him the go-ahead. ”We thought we should get you a bride since you haven’t found your mate. Time was no longer on your side. You needed a Luna and an heir….” ”What?” I cut him off and stood to my feet, but that did not stop him from speaking, ”A week ago, we sent an invitation to Lady Golden, daughter of alpha Enrich. She hasn’t found her mate, so we told her you might be interested in marrying her….” ”You must be joking?” I scoffed in disbelief and moved my gaze to the twelve gammas but realized they were all putting serious faces. ”She sent back a letter to us that she would like to marry you, and that she has broken the engagement she had with alpha Marvin the moment she got our letter, and she will be here tomorrow morning to pay you a visit….” ”Bullshit, absolute bullshit,” I yelled, causing my gammas to fall to the floor with fear.
They all lowered their heads to the floor while I glared at them. How could they send a marriage proposal on my behalf without letting me know. ”How dare you!” I yelled furiously, ”We are sorry!” They all apologized in unison.
With a groan, I glared at them one more time before returning to my seat. While seated, I stared at them on the floor and hated myself for letting them stay on the floor. Half of my gammas were the age of my late father, including Jayson’s father, my father’s Beta. ”Have your seats,” I grumbled and massaged the back of my neck. I was going through a lot, and now this.
Silence filled the whole place until I spoke, ”I have a mate but couldn’t tell you all because I thought she was my half sister.” I announced and got a nod from them, ”Beta Jayson told us everything.” Gamma Ray spoke, causing a sigh of relief to leave my lips.
Again, silence filled the entire room until Jayson spoke. ”What are we going to do with lady Golden visitation?” He asked, and no one gave an answer until I spoke. ”Let her come, I’ll talk to her myself,” I said and stood to my feet. ”Such a thing should not repeat itself,” I warned firmly before teleporting away.
I arrived in the sitting room and saw Mia talking to the maids. I settled my gaze on them and saw that a maid was bleeding profusely. ”Stay calm and let me help,” Mia assured her and took hold of the maid’s bleeding hand.
I watched her close her eyes and within some seconds, the bleeding stopped and the cut closed up, leaving just a mark. ”Wow!” all the servants gasped at her abilities and fell to their knees while she asked them to get on their feet, that it was nothing. She talked friendly to the servants, while I just stood there with a big smile. She was going to make a wonderful Luna, and there was no doubt about that.
As I watched her, I couldn’t help but see how happy she was that she could help the maid, but then a realization hit me: Mia would be a shadow of herself if she loses her wolf and healing abilities.
She turned and looked at me for a moment before making her way to me. As she walked to me, I could see she had a questioning look in her eyes, and I wondered what she wanted to say. ”Are you busy?” She asked as she got to where I stood, ”Not really, do you want me to take you somewhere?” I asked and got a nod from her, ”I want to go see him.” She said while holding my gaze, ”Him? you mean lord Philip.” I asked with a frown and got a nod and a blank look from her. ”I can’t take you there.” I objected and got a scoff from her, ”I’m not asking you alpha Ricardo, I’m telling you.” She said, holding my gaze, ”Either you take me there or I’ll do the needful.” She threatened, ”Are you threatening me?” I asked and took a step toward her, while she gulped and looked away.
”I don’t like threats. I hope you understand that.” I spoke in a low tone, but the seriousness in my voice could be noticed, ”I have a lot on my plate. Please don’t add more to it,” I said and teleported away.
Within some seconds, I arrived in my room and stayed all day indoors, contemplating what to do.
At exactly 10 pm, I felt a strange feeling around me, and without being told, I knew Lord Dickson was in my room. ”Show yourself,” I ordered.
”Nice one, Alpha Ricardo.” He said and became visible to me. The young lady was also beside him, wearing a blank look. ”It’s nice to see you again, Alpha Ricardo.” He said with an irritating smirk on his face, which annoyed me. ”How much do you want?” I asked, going straight to the point.
A loud chuckle left his lips while he moved closer to me, but this time, he didn’t have the box. ”I don’t need your money, Alpha Ricardo. I want Mia; she is the only hybrid fit to be my queen,” He said, making my wolf furious. ”She can’t be your queen; she is my wife and mate.” I spoke possessively, ”Fine.” He shrugged his shoulders and stepped backward, ”Then watch her lose her wolf and abilities.” He threatened, ”She will be in so much pain that right before your very eyes she will die,” He added, sending an intense fear down my spine, but I didn’t show it. ”You will do no such thing.” I yelled and held his gaze with burning rage, ”If anything happens to her, I’ll kill you and your entire generation.” I muttered those words as a promise and heard him chuckle loudly before gesturing the young lady to come closer to him.
”I see that you have made your decision. I hope you can comfort her when the time comes. Actually, she has just a day left. If I don’t take her hair away from that box, by tomorrow night, she will be wolfless and powerless.” He grinned and signaled the young lady that it was time for them to leave.
I knew his words weren’t mere threats. He would do it, and I didn’t know how Mia would take it. If she loses her wolf, I might lose her, and such thoughts scared me to death. ”Hold on.” I spoke before she could take hold of him, ”Don’t do it.” My wolf warned, but it fell on deaf ears, ”I will do it only on one condition.” I said and got a curious gaze from him.
