Mia’s POV
”Are you serious?” Sandra asked, and I nodded and saw their eyes filled with shock. ”And you didn’t tell us about it,” Rachael spoke with a frown on her face from the screen. ”I told you it’s complicated,” I said and got a scoff from Sarah. I knew it was hard for both to believe that I had been married to alpha Ricardo, but I wanted to avoid telling them I was hypnotized. For strange reasons, I didn’t want to tell them.
”Does your father know about this?” Rachael asked, ”He is the reason I got married in the first place. Do you know that man wants to exchange my life with his?” I announced and got a shocked gasp from them. ”A letter…” I tried speaking, but the screen kept breaking, showing the network was bad, probably because of the weather. ”Can you hear me?” Sarah asked, but her voice was cracking, ”Let’s talk later.” I told them and ended the video call.
With a sigh, I left the bed, packed my hair in a bun, took off the towel, and dressed in a pair of shorts and a dress.
After dressing, I left my room and went to the dining table, where I met alpha Ricardo having breakfast. Without saying a word, I pulled out a seat and dished some oatmeal onto my plate, totally ignoring him.
We ate in silence until he spoke. ”What do you think will happen to him?” He asked, getting me confused. ”Who?” I asked with a frown and saw him heave a deep breath. ” A friend lost his wolf and abilities a few days ago. I don’t think he will survive it,” He said worriedly. This explains why he hasn’t been himself since yesterday. ”Is he still alive?” I asked and got a nod from him, ”Then he is indeed strong. I won’t be able to stay alive if I lose my wolf and abilities. I will surely die, and if I don’t die, then I’ll kill myself, because what is life without my wolf and abilities?” I spoke sincerely and went back to my food.
Reluctantly, I took a spoonful into my mouth and chewed. As I chewed, I noticed he wasn’t eating; instead, he was lost in deep thought. I wanted to ignore him, but I couldn’t. ”Are you worried about him?” I asked and got a heavy sigh from him as he stood to his feet, ”I need to see him.” With those words, he teleported away.
”What is wrong with him?” I asked my wolf, ”You heard him; maybe he is worried about his friend,” She responded, while I shrugged my shoulders and continued eating.
Tonight I plan to visit my father. I need to hatch my plans before it gets too late.
After eating, I left the dining table but didn’t bother to leave the house because alpha Ricardo had declared that I should not leave the mansion without being followed by guards.
Sighing, I left the living room and walked to the garden. With a deep breath, I inhaled the fresh air from the flower and lay on the grass. I closed my eyes and thought about my life. A few years ago, I wouldn’t have imagined my life would turn out this way, but here I am, married to my enemy, bearing his marks, and who knows, I might be his Luna. ”Nice thought.” My wolf mumbled, causing me to scoff, ”I will never be his Luna.” I told myself while my wolf and I argued about it until I heard footsteps approaching me.
Slowly, I opened my eyes to see who was coming and saw that it was a guard. ”Greetings!” He greeted and lowered his head with respect, ”Lady Golden is here, and we thought perhaps you could welcome her on behalf of alpha Ricardo, who is busy with a meeting,” he said, his words getting me confused.
”Lady Golden is here?” I asked with furrowed eyebrows. ”Yes, my lady.” The guard responded, ”Why is she here?” I asked with a frown as I stood at my feet. ”I think Alpha Ricardo invited her.” He responded, ”Invited by Alpha Ricardo.” I murmured to myself as I walked after him. So many thoughts buzzed in my head as I contemplated why he would invite her over. ”Perhaps it’s for business.” My wolf suggested, but I couldn’t agree with her. If he wanted to do business, he would have done it with her father, or perhaps her brothers. Why must it be her?
As we approached the door to the living room, I couldn’t help but wonder how she looked. I have heard a lot about her, her beauty, her abilities, and how she turned down the requests of so many suitors. Rachael never seized to talk about her whenever she scrolled through her Instagram pages. Judging from the pictures shown to me by Rachael, she looked gorgeous. Long black hair, a pointed nose and fair white skin. She had a slim, slender body that fit whatever she wore. Indeed, she was a complete package, and I became concerned on why alpha Ricardo would invite her here.
We got to the entrance door, and the guard opened the door and stepped aside for me to walk in. As I entered the sitting room, I met her seated on one of the single-seater couches, while a guard and a maid stood behind her. She was gracefully dressed in a long embroidered blue dress that fitted and hugged her in the right places. Her hair was packed in a bun and decorated with fancy hair pins, making her look like a 19th-century queen. Red lipstick was on her lips, giving her a stunning look.
”You must be Mia.” She said while she gracefully stood to her feet with a friendly smile, ”Yes, and you are welcome to our pack.” I said as we both bowed. ”She was acting different. The pictures I saw on her Instagram pages were of her wearing modern clothes, like jeans, crop tops, and pants, but here she was dressed traditionally and greeted with a curtsey. ”She wants to give a good impression on Alpha Ricardo.” My wolf said, while I scoffed and took the seat across her. ”Alpha Ricardo will be on his way. Are you here for a business deal?” I asked, going straight to the point. I was so curious about why she was here, and I hated it. ”Business deal?” She asked with a smile and shook her head, ”Your brother didn’t tell you of my coming?” She asked with raised eyebrows. I held her gaze and wished I could tell her he wasn’t my brother, but I was his wife and mate. But it would sound ridiculous because I have never accepted him as my husband or mate.
”You are here?” Alpha Ricardo spoke behind me, announcing his presence to us.
Quickly, she stood to her feet and bowed with respect. ”Greetings, Alpha Ricardo.” She greeted with the sweetest voice I have ever heard a lady use. Indeed, she was groomed to be a lady, unlike me.
”Welcome, lady Golden, apologies for keeping you waiting….” ”Not at all, your sister kept me company.” She said and flashed me a friendly smile, which I did not return.
He walked from behind me and took the couch beside me, while I Ignored him like he wasn’t seated there. Everything in me told me to leave and give them some privacy, but I couldn’t. I was so eager to know why she was here.
”I hope you didn’t have trouble locating here?” Alpha Ricardo asked with a friendly voice that made me panic, but I couldn’t tell why I was. ”Not at all,” She responded with a charming smile while I watched them both.
”I believe you’ve met my step-sister,” Alpha Ricardo spoke while holding my gaze.
Stepsister? I murmured to myself while holding his gaze.
”Yes, we were actually chatting before you came,” She responded while I remained speechless as an icy shiver ran down my spine. ”Is that a wedding ring on your finger?” She asked, and before I could respond, alpha Ricardo cut in, ”Not really, she wears it to drive suitors away.” He said, causing my eyes to widen with shock. ”Oh, that’s a good idea, I would have also done the same, but they won’t believe me,” She said with a chuckle while I glared at alpha Ricardo, who wouldn’t meet my gaze.
”I see you are also marked?” She said while staring at the mark on my neck, ”Yes, she was marked by her mate, but he died a few months ago.” The word slipped out of his mouth smoothly while he ignored my glare.
”Oh, my God, I’m so sorry for your lost.” She said while I remained silent because I didn’t know what to say or do. ”Don’t worry, you will find a good man just like I found your brother, alpha Ricardo.” She said and looked in alpha Ricardo’s direction with a big smile, draining all the blood in my body.
