Mia’s POV
I held the stunned eyes of Jayson when he heard my words. ”Tell me you are joking, Mia. You just can’t let him die.” Jayson pleaded with panic while I scoffed bitterly and said, ”Even his death won’t be enough to pay for the pain he made me go through!” I yelled, ”I lost both my parents. I was in pain, but what did he do? He inflicted more pain on me.” I yelled with gritted teeth, ”I won’t heal him, I won’t.” I spoke firmly.
”Jayson!” Alpha Ricardo called out weakly, ”Help me on my feet.” He said and spat out more blood, cursing fear to run down my spine, but I shook it off.
I watched Jayson as he lifted him up and wrapped his hand around his shoulder. ”Mia!” Alpha Ricardo called out weakly while holding my gaze with weak eyes, which broke all my bones. ”Mine!” My wolf howled in pain, causing my heart to throb. ”I’m sorry, I apologize for inflicting so much pain on you, no amount of apologies will take those memories away, but I hope that one day you will forgive me….” He coughed and spat out thick blood, which made my heart stop for a second.
”Stop it. We have to take you to the hospital.” Jayson tried speaking, but he refused. ”I want her to forgive me. If she doesn’t forgive, I’ll remain here,” He said firmly, and I knew he meant what he had just said. ”Stop it, Ricardo, your life is in danger,” Jayson spoke in panic, but alpha Ricardo shook his head stubbornly. ”I won’t…” He coughed and spat more blood. ”He is dying,” My wolf whimpered, causing a sudden rush of fear all over my body.
I knew I hated him. I wanted him to die but… ”Take him to bed,” I told Jayson and got a relieved sigh from him. I walked away from them and turned my back to them. This was supposed to be wrong, but it felt like I was doing something right. ”He needs our help.” My wolf pleaded, forcing me to take a turn, and I realized he had gotten to the bed. ”What should I do?” I asked as I made my way to the bed. ”placed your hand on his chest.” She directed.
I got to where he was lying and sat beside him. He was already shirtless and sweating profusely. ”Stay calm,” I told him and placed my hands on him. Slowly, I closed my eyes and allowed my wolf and abilities to do the work. ”It’s a powerful spell.” My wolf spoke with a murmur.
”What does that mean?” I asked, panicked. ”You know what that means.” My wolf responded.
My healing abilities weren’t working, and I knew there was only one solution. I have to take the poison and heal myself gradually. ”No!” I spoke in disapproval. I would have done it for anyone but not him. With a frown, I opened my eyes and held his gaze. His eyes were so weak that I didn’t know what to say. ”Is something wrong?” Jayson asked, scared, but I couldn’t respond to him. Again I held Alpha Ricardo’s gaze and realized he knew my abilities weren’t working. ”It’s okay, you tried your best, thank you,” He whispered and tiredly shut his eyes.
His words clenched my heart, and out of panic and impulse, I placed my hands on his chest and gave my wolf the go-ahead.
I began taking the poison into my system and felt my body getting weak, but I didn’t stop. ”Are you okay?” I heard Jayson’s worried voice in my head. It was obvious he had gotten a sign that I was getting weak. Ignoring his words, I continued transmitting all the poison into my body until I realized I’d taken everything from him. I opened my eyes but realized my sight were blurry. ”Oh my goodness, what did you do?” Jayson yelled and grabbed me before I could fall to the floor. ”Are you okay?” Jayson asked while I whined but didn’t say a word.
”Mia!” I heard Ricardo’s voice as he left the bed and sat on the floor. ”Give her to me.” He told Jayson and took me into his arms. A sigh of relief left my lips as I rested my head on his chest and sighed in comfort at the warmth of his body. His arms felt like the safest place in the world, and I hated myself for loving it.
”What did you do?” He asked as his breath rose and fell rapidly.
”Don’t worry, it will take me a few days, but I’ll heal myself. It’s easier that way,” I said and got an angry groan from alpha Ricardo, ”Why did you do that? Don’t you know it’s too risky?” He said in a worried tone, while I scoffed and said, ”You should say thank you.” I murmured and shut my eyes.
My whole body was burning, but I knew the healing process had already started. ”You shouldn’t have done it,” Alpha Ricardo grumbled and lifted me up from the floor. He made me lie on his bed and sat beside me with worried eyes. ”You are something else,” He mumbled and placed a kiss on my forehead. ”Thank you,” He said while I nervously looked away. With a soft sigh, I closed my eyes so I wouldn’t hold his gaze. I hate how his eyes make me feel weak in my bones.
”Alpha?” I heard Jayson’s voice, forcing my eyes open, ”Simeon, just inform me that alpha Joshua is here to see Mia.” Alpha Ricardo groaned at Jayson’s words and held my gaze. ”Tell him she is not in the state to receive visitors….” ” I want to see him.” I cut in, ”But you are….” He tried speaking, and I cut him off, ”You have no right to tell me who can see me or not.” I said, annoyed by his caring attitude. I wasn’t used to this side of him.
Alpha Ricardo heaved a deep breath and went into deep thought for a moment before nodding to Jayson, ”Let him come up here. I don’t want her to leave bed.” He told Jayson, who nodded.
He stood up on his feet and walked to the bar, but I stopped him when he went for a drink. ” Don’t you dare,” I warned and got a scoff from him before he turned to me. ”You are ordering an alpha?” He asked, but not in an angry tone. ”You mean I’m ordering my husband.” I paused and cursed myself for blurting out those words.
I noticed a smirk curled up from the side of alpha Ricardo’s lips, and I hated it. ”So…” He wanted to speak but was cut off by the knock on the door.
Jayson went to the door, opened it, and let Alpha Joshua in, who was being escorted by Simeon. ”Mia.” He called out when he saw me lying on the bed, ”Hi Joshua, you are back,” I said with a weak smile, but he responded with a frown. ” What is wrong with her?” He questioned alpha Ricardo, who didn’t give him an answer.
Silence filled the whole place until I spoke. ”I wish to speak to him in private,” I told Alpha Ricardo, who disagreed by shaking his head. ”I won’t leave you alone with him.” He spoke possessively, getting me annoyed. ”I’m not asking you, alpha Ricardo, I’m telling you,” I spoke firmly while holding his gaze.
I knew he wanted to argue, but he knew that would anger me more, so he groaned and turned to alpha Joshua. ”I’ll be outside the door. Make sure you do nothing stupid,” He warned, while alpha Joshua scoffed and said, ”I will never hurt Mia for anything in this world.”
After getting that satisfying answer from alpha Joshua, he glared at me one more time before leaving the room through the door.
We both remained silent as we both waited for whom to speak first, and I decided to speak. ” I’m fine. Alpha Ricardo was poisoned, and I couldn’t heal him unless I transmit it to my body and heal myself gradually.” I explained and got a nod from alpha Joshua.
”Can you have a seat?” I asked and got a nod. He walked to the couch and sat across me. With a soft sigh, I managed to sit on the bed while I rested my head on the pillow for support.
”Is that a wedding ring?” He asked while staring at the ring on my finger, causing a heavy sigh to leave my lips. ”It’s a long story,” I murmured. ”Leave your mind open, and I’ll read through it,” He suggested, and I agreed with a nod.
I left my heart open, revealing everything to him, from the email we got from Ricardo’s father to Ricardo’s suggesting marriage and me waking up realizing I was hypnotized and got married to alpha Ricardo.
”It’s indeed a long story.” He sighed and stood to his feet. He walked around the room for a moment before stopping beside me. ”I think he did the right thing,” He said, getting me confused. ”I have heard about the rumor of lord Philip, your father, killing his children….” He paused and gulped in pain. ”You recall the first time we met, and I told you I came to the party with my boyfriend?” He asked, and I nodded my head.
I saw him sniffle deeply before speaking, ”His name was Christopher. He was your half-brother.” He announced, shocking me. ”Just like you, his mother was also a werewolf….” He gulped, and I could notice he was finding it hard to continue. ”Are you okay?” I asked and got a nod from him. ”We were friends since we were ten, and we started dating when I turned sixteen.” He mumbled and sat on the bed beside me. ”He died two years later from a strange headache. One Morning he called me and complained that he had a strong ache in his head. I joked and told him to take some painkillers and rest that I would meet him. After dropping the call, I took a bath and drove to the mansion where he lives with Lord Philip, only to find him dead, just like that.” He sobbed and wiped off the tears that dropped on his cheek. ”After his death, I went to different seers, and they all refused to tell me the reason for his death, but I knew something was fishy….” He gulped and stood on his feet, ”Maybe he would have still been alive today if he was my mate. Only if he had allowed me to claim him.” He whispered in pain and turned his back to me so I wouldn’t see him so heartbroken.
I sat there while his words buzzed in my head. I had a half-brother who was alpha Joshua’s date, who died mysteriously. I stared at alpha Joshua and noticed he was crying silently, and I didn’t know what to say or do, but a dangerous idea came to me. ”Alpha Joshua.” I called out, forcing him to turn to me, ”I have a plan.”
