Alpha Ricardo’s POV
With a heavy sigh, I emptied the glass of wine into my mouth, and while going to fill the next cup, my door opened, forcing my attention to it. ”Alpha Ricardo.” Mia yelled angrily as she marched forward to me, still in the wedding dress, ”What is the meaning of this?” She screamed, fuming with rage and anger. ”I’m now a prisoner?” She yelled, holding my gaze with hate. ”I won’t let that happen, Alpha Ricardo; you have no authority over me,” She yelled while I just stood and watched, her fumed with anger. I wanted to speak, but I was short of words.
”And this…” She yelled and went for the ring on her finger, ”What makes you think I would accept this marriage?” She asked bitterly and struggled to take the ring off her finger. Quickly, I fixed my gaze on the ring and sealed it to her finger with my abilities.
With angry groans, she struggled to take it off, but it was useless. ”What is…” She paused and looked up at me, ”You did this?” She fumed and angrily ran her fingers through her hair. ”Get this off!” She ordered, ”I can’t.” I responded tiredly.
With rage-filled eyes, she walked closer and stood just an inch away from me that I could feel her hot breath fan my face. ”You will pay dearly for this, Alpha Ricardo.” She uttered those words as a threat and left while I stood there speechless.
I checked the time and realized I was already late for the meeting I had with the wolverines and the lords of the vampires. Quickly, I put on a coat and teleported to the venue.
I arrived at the meeting and saw the wolverines and vampires gathered around the table. They all shot me a quick glare and quickly looked away while I took the seat that was kept for me. A servant arrived with a tray of drinks, and we all picked a glass of the drink and kept it in front of us.
Curious, I scanned the people at the table and was surprised not to see Lord Philip, and also there were few empty seats. ”I think the gathering is canceled.” one of the vampires announced, causing everyone to groan.
”Do you think we are jobless and have nothing to do?” Alpha Chris yelled angrily. So many things were happening in my life, and I didn’t have the energy to exchange words with anyone. ”If the meeting continues, then you guys can alert me.” With those words, I teleported and arrived in my room.
With a heavy sigh, I sat on the couch and pondered on what to do. I knew Mia was furious and might do something really silly, and the thought of that scares me. ”Alpha Ricardo.” I heard Jayson’s voice in my head. ”Go on.” ”Someone is here to see you.” He announced through telepathy, ”I don’t want to see anyone.” I grumbled, ”I think you would like to see him.” He said, causing a heavy groan to leave my lips.
”I’m on my way,” I told him and slowly stood to my feet but felt a sharp pain pierce through my chest. ”What was that?” I asked my wolf but got no answer from him.
Slowly, I stood erect and waited to see if the pain would occur again, but it didn’t. After waiting a while, I decided to see who was looking for me. I teleported away from my room and arrived in the sitting room. I saw Jayson was seated on the one-seater couch while a man sat on the other one-seater couch.
”Alpha Ricardo.” He called and stood to his feet, ”And you are?” I asked with furrowed eyebrows. ”I’m Lord Dickson, the lord of the hybrids?” He announced, bringing his hand for a handshake.
With questioning eyes, I glared at him and wondered why he had come. I have heard a lot about him, but I never knew he was this young. I thought he would be in his fifties or older. ”Nice to have you,” I said while taking his hand for a handshake.
We shook hands, and both took our seats. ”You have a lovely home,” he said and moved his gaze around. ”Thank you, and to what do I own this surprise visit?” I asked while he went silent for a moment before speaking. ”I believe Mia lives here. I heard she is your half-sibling.” He questioned while holding my gaze.
I didn’t give him a response, but I held his gaze for a moment before speaking, ”You are the man she met at the party?” I asked as a wave of jealousy enveloped my entire being. ”She told you?” He asked with a hint of excitement in his voice, causing Eric to howl jealously.
”Why are you here? What do you want?” I asked as firmly as I could, so he wouldn’t notice the anger in my voice. ”I see you are the protective type.” He chuckled, getting more on my nerve, but I held back. ”Well, we made plans to have a date, and I have been trying to reach her through mind link but didn’t get signals from her, so I came here to pick her up.” He said, holding my gaze, which was already filled with anger.
With a deep breath, I stood to my feet and took a step closer to him. ”See?” I showed my finger, which had my wedding ring, and noticed the confused look on his face. ”We are married, and she is not my half-sister. Rather, we are mates,” I announced and got a soft chuckle from him. ”This is a ridiculous game. Is this what you use in driving guys away?” He asked, getting me more annoyed.
With a scoff, he stood to his feet and brought out his hand for a handshake. ”Don’t worry, I’ll see Mia my own way; nice meeting you, alpha Ricardo.” He said while waiting for me to shake hands with him, but I didn’t. Rather, I teleported away.
I arrived at my room with panting breath, quickly I tore off my clothes and collapsed on the bed. My breath kept seizing in my chest, and I found it hard to breathe. ”What’s going on?” I asked Eric in a soft whisper, ”You should see Mia.” He urged, ”For what?” I asked in fear at the thought of something happening to her. ”Just go to her,” He urged, and I did as instructed.
I teleported into Mia’s room and found her on her feet. The moment she saw me, I could see her eyes were filled with curiosity, ”Is something wrong with you?” I asked, ”I should ask you that.” She responded, getting me confused, and just when I was about to ask further questions, I felt a severe pain hit my chest that forced a loud scream to leave my lips. With throbbing pain, I fell to the ground. ”You were poisoned.” My wolf announced to me.”
”Poisoned?” I asked, confused, ”I’m sorry, I didn’t notice, your seat was poisoned.” He whispered, causing a heavy sigh to leave my lips. ”What…” I tried speaking but was cut off by a sharp severe pain. ”Arrghhh,” I yelled in pain and held on to my chest.
”What is going on?” Mia asked and stepped closer to me while I continued whining in pain. ”Can you say something.” She asked, ”I was poisoned.” I managed to speak and got a gasp from her, ”Call Jayson.” I told her while I massaged my chest.
With panting breath, I waited for Jayson to arrive while Mia stood emotionless.
The door opened, and Jayson ran in with panic, ”What is wrong?” He asked, squatting before me. ”They poisoned me at the gathering.” I stammered and spat out blood on the floor.
”Shit, we have to do something.” Jayson spoke in panic, ”Teleport us to the hospital.” He suggested to me, but I shook my head, ”I can’t make use of my abilities.” I whimpered in pain and continued massaging my burning chest. ” Damn it, what do we do….” He paused for a moment and moved his attention to Mia. ”Mia, you are a healer. Please do something while we send for the doctor.” He pleaded as he stood to his feet, ”You can do something. You have to do something.” He spoke in panic and stood before Mia, who had a blank look on her face.
I watched her hold Jayson’s gaze for a moment before moving her gaze to me. We held each other’s gaze, and I could see anger and hatred in her eyes. ”I won’t.” She spoke firmly, ”I would rather die than use my abilities on him.”
”I beg of you, Mia, help him. The poison is moving around his body. We might lose him.” Jayson Pleaded, ”Then let him die. I’ll make sure I send fresh flowers to his grave every weekend.”
