Most of the women were happy that the full moon would be held in the Grey Blood Pack, not because they wanted to experience it in a large way or as a united community; but because each of them believed they were going to be the lucky she-wolf that would snatch the sex god addressing the crowd.
“What should I do?” Alpha Sebastian asked Audrey.
“About what?” Audrey’s attention was drawn back to the table.
Her attention had been locked on Alpha Lake the moment Andrew mentioned him. She had seen him standing beside the stage with Adeline clinging to his side.
She discovered he had chosen her as his date for the event… if not for life.
Whatever, it had nothing to do with her, whomever he chose to be with, wasn’t her business.
But, she couldn’t help herself. She stared at him like it was just the both of them inside the hall, every other sound was muted as she zeroed in on him.
She imagined what everything would have looked like if there was no bad blood between them, they would have just been a normal loving couple, the type that would attract envy from even mated couples. She would have stood beside him on stage, complimenting his Alpha male billionaire look.
But, things were different, So different that she knew her imaginations were absurd.
It was never going to happen, at least, no one would see her thoughts. A thought, that was what it was, not a reality, never to become reality.
“I’ve not spoken to him since the confrontation yesterday evening. I feel bad and stupid.” Alpha Sebastian whispered to Audrey.
The room was filled with werewolves’ he didn’t want to risk tarnishing neither of their images by letting the news enter the wrong ear.
“I think he’ll understand, just speak to him. His reasonable enough,” ‘I pray so’ She said the last part within her.
“Help me out, please!” He held Audrey’s hand over the table, giving her his signature puppy dog eyes.
“Aw, I don’t see how I’ll be of help,” Audrey shrugged.
“Um, just create a comfortable environment between us, trust me, I’ll take the lead,” He blinked cutely at her.
“Ugh! Okay,” Audrey reluctantly agreed.
‘Hello, again, Adeline,’ She mused internally.
Her night had just begun.
“Enjoy the rest of your night,” Alpha Lake wished his guests a lovely evening and walked away from the stage. Andrew followed behind.
“Alpha, where is our table?” Adeline asked, immediately wrapping her arms around Alpha Lake’s as he came down the stage.
Alpha Lake felt repulsed the moment Adeline’s arm wrapped around his, but he could not complain.
He was the one who had asked her to be his date for the night, he was using her as bait, and, until he successfully caught his target, he would endure Adeline’s touch.
“Oh, there! I see Alpha Sebastian!” Adeline said excitedly, pointing at Audrey’s table.
She wanted to rub the fact that she was Alpha Lake’s date on Audrey’s face.
“After you, Adeline. I’ll attend to my guests. Andrew?” He removed her arm from his and placed it on Andrew’s.
“Take her with you.”
“Yes, Alpha.” Andrew took Adeline’s hand and they walked towards Audrey’s table.
“Good evening, Alpha Sebastian.” Adeline greeted them as they reached, completely ignoring Audrey.
“Good evening, Miss Sullivan.” Alpha Sebastian replied and went back to talking to Audrey.
Well, looks like it’s not everyone who showed Adeline the acceptance she needed.
She knew Alpha Sebastian had never paid her any attention nor showered her with praises like others did.
She didn’t know why, but she wanted to make him see her as the meek and weak female she portrayed herself to be.
“Good evening, Alpha Sebastian, Catherine,” Andrew greeted as he sat down beside Audrey.
He let Adeline occupy the chair beside Alpha Sebastian, he didn’t want her near him. He knew she was a fake, but he had never called her out.
He didn’t want to offend Alpha Lake by doing so, he knew they shared a connection.
“Hey, Andrew. Nice speech up there,” Audrey said, giving him a polite smile.
After much thought, She didn’t want to hate him, it wasn’t his fault he did what he did.
She was going to channel the hatred to the main culprit, Andrew was just an accomplice that had no choice. She forgave him.
“Yeah, he’s always good with the crowd.” Alpha Sebastian supported.
“Ha-ha, I’m flattered, thank you, Catherine.” Andrew smiled happily at Audrey.
He was glad she spoke to him, it meant there was hope for him.
Adeline watched as both males on the table only channeled their attention to Audrey. She felt ignored and angry, but she couldn’t act up, she had an image to protect.
“Beta Andrew, you looked so awesome up at the stage, everyone was hooked on you,” Adeline chipped in all of a sudden.
Andrew just looked at her and gave her a slight nod. It annoyed her the more.
She stared daggers at Audrey; if looks could kill, Audrey would be beyond six feet under already.
“Alpha Sebastian, Alpha Jose wants to speak to you outside,” A lady dressed in a sexy silver dress said to Alpha Sebastian as she stood beside their table.
“I’ll see you soon, Sweet cheeks,” Alpha Sebastian pinched Audrey’s cheek and followed the girl outside.
The hall was bustling with activities. People were eating, drinking, and chatting, and some were just busy taking pictures for their social media.
Audrey filled up Andrew’s glass with wine, then she filled hers too. She didn’t bother filling Adeline’s glass, she hadn’t acknowledged her presence anyway, so she would do the same.
“I’ll use the restroom,” Adeline announced, standing from her chair.
She couldn’t stand being ignored in front of Audrey. She felt insulted.
“Cheers,” She raised her glass to Andrew as if no one had just spoken beside her.
Adeline secretly clenched her fists and walked away from the table.
“Cheers, Audrey,” Andrew whispered.
“You want to get me killed?” Audrey joked.
“Sorry, Catherine.” Andrew smiled.
“You don’t seem to like her?” Audrey asked Andrew, looking at Adeline’s retreating figure.
“That one? Nah, a green snake,” He replied, shaking his head.
“Alpha Sebastian too?” Audrey asked.
“Yeah. But, unfortunately, Alpha Lake doesn’t see her that way,” Andrew said.
“Obviously. But why?” Audrey had wanted to know why they had seemed so connected back at his club last night.
She wondered if she was his ex or his crush.
“Well, he doesn’t particularly like it to be discussed, but, I’ll tell you anyway.” He downed his drink and filled it up again.
“Seven years ago, he had saved her from committing suicide, and he found out the cause was because she was missing her mother who had died from poison.” He smiled weirdly.
“From then, he pitied her because she faced the same predicament he did. But, as you can see; she took his pity as him having feelings for her.” He explained.
“Tsk, poor girl, she’s gonna get her heart broken.” Audrey mused. But, deep down, she was glad.
At least, it wasn’t what she had thought. It was all in Adeline’s head.
“Here they come.” Andrew pointed his glass behind Audrey.
Audrey slowly turned and saw Stacy and Janeth walking in.
Janeth was in front, while Stacy walked slowly in a distance behind her.
Stacy looked like she didn’t want to be here; like she was forced to dress up and come for the party. She wore a simple blue ball gown, no makeup and she had her hair down like she didn’t have the strength to style it.
“Mm, let them come,” Audrey leisurely sipped wine.
“Good evening, beta,” Stacy said as they approached Audrey’s table.
“Hello, Stacy,” Andrew replied, mentally noting this as the first time Stacy had been polite to him.
He noticed Janeth didn’t stop at their table, instead, she walked right up to Alpha Lake who was busy talking with Alpha Lucas and three more Alphas.
He wondered what drama she wanted to create. He stood up immediately and followed her, he didn’t want her to create a scene.
“Sit,” Audrey said to Stacy as Andrew left the table.
Stacy reluctantly sat down. She was still in shock from the incident that took place in Audrey’s room, she couldn’t wrap her head around the possibility of the girl in front of her being Audrey, and, a witch.
“How are you?” Audrey asked, filling up a glass for Stacy.
“I’m fine,” Stacy whispered lowly. Her hand shook slightly as she took the glass of wine from Audrey.
She feared that if she let her hand come in contact with Audrey’s, she would witness something similar to the last episode, if not worse.
“Oh! Hi, Stacy,” Adeline came and snatched the wine right out of Stacy’s hand.
“I’ll drink that, pour her another one, slave!” Adeline sipped the wine, smirking.
The place was filled with slow music and distant chatter, no one paid attention to them, Adeline thought it was the best time to bully Audrey as Alpha Sebastian and Andrew were no longer sitting at the table.
“N-no, Adeline, I-I’m fine,” Stacy stammered.
Her heart was beating rapidly, her hands became cold and sweaty.
