“Beta Andrew,” Andrew corrected.
Alex remained mute. If he could call him Cub, then he could call him by his name too. He considered that respectful enough for him.
He didn’t want to directly insult their annoying Beta.
“Did you hear me, Cub,” Andrew went to hold Alex by the collar but he was quick to dodge, raising his hands in surrender.
“Yes, Beta. And, my name is Alex!” Alex responded begrudgingly.
“I’ll call you whatever I want,” Andrew stated, folding his hands on his broad chest.
He always loved to tease him, Alex. His reactions were spectacular.
“Bye,” Alex said and turned to leave.
“Stay! Let’s talk.” He held Alex’s wrist, stopping him from leaving.
“Tell me everything you know, I don’t want to use my Beta command on you, Cub. I have my suspicions too.” He threatened Alex.
Alex gulped, he knew had been spotted. Why must it be him?
“I don’t think this is a good idea,” Audrey said as she walked down the stairs with the Alpha.
“Come on kitten, we’re as casual as we could be. It’s not a date.” Alpha Lake assured her.
Audrey had been reluctant to eat out with the Alpha, in the end, he ended up convincing her to wear a plain white shirt and a blue jean, telling her that it would make them appear as casual as possible.
“Uh, whatever. Let’s go, I’m starving.”
Alpha Lake chuckled and opened the front door of his tinted black car for Audrey.
He saw one of his drivers coming up to them but he waved him away, he didn’t want anyone between them tonight. He wanted a fresh start with her tonight.
“Hey, let’s make a stop over there, what’s the party for tomorrow?” Audrey asked, pointing at the huge building in front of them.
“Okay,” He reluctantly agreed.
He didn’t want to stop, Andrew had informed him earlier that Alpha Sebastian had come earlier than the other Alphas; as usual.
He didn’t want to risk bumping into him, he didn’t want Alpha Sebastian interacting with Audrey.
“The party is for the organization of the full moon. The Alphas come together and decide where they want to hold the full moon celebration.” Alpha Lake explained as he killed the engine in front of the building.
“Alpha Lake!” Janeth dropped everything she was doing and ran to them the moment they stepped into the decorated hall.
She was mad when she saw Audrey comfortably standing beside Alpha Lake.
Memories of how she had always been left out when they were younger resurfaced in her mind. She promised herself never to lose to Audrey again.
Never!
“I’ll see you later, enjoy your time with your Audrey.” Audrey walked away from Alpha Lake before he could hold her back.
Alpha Lake was instantly mad. He watched Janeth slow her footsteps when she approached him.
He wondered if whoever disguised the girl as Audrey had failed to inform her about his relationship status with the real Audrey.
Did they tell her that they had been best of friends; because that was how the girl was acting towards him?
“Halt!” He commanded her to stop before she could reach him.
“Leave!” He said dangerously.
Janeth knew she had to stay on his good side, she didn’t want to push her luck, and she was surprised he still allowed her to stay in his Pack. That was enough hope for her.
Alpha Lake walked past her, not sparing her a glance.
Just like he thought; there they were, chatting like lovers with their faces full of smiles.
“Sebastian,” He acknowledged his friend when he approached them.
“Alpha,” Alpha Sebastian greeted, smiling.
“Why are you giddy?” He questioned, he went to hold Audrey’s waist but she tactfully dodged him without anybody’s notice.
“I know you hate Audrey, but now that she’s back, can you treat her better? She’s been through a lot.”
“She. Is. Not. Audrey.” Alpha Lake insinuated each word to make his emphasis.
“You probably hate her so much that you’ve forgotten how she looked!” Alpha Sebastian accused.
“Watch your words, Sebastian!” Alpha Lake’s angry voice boomed all over the large hall.
“Go easy on him, Alpha, he’s just being concerned and-argh!!”
“Don’t ever touch me!” Alpha Lake pushed Janeth away as she came to hold his hand in the presence of calming him down.
She fell hard to the floor, embarrassed by the outcome of her actions as everyone stared at her like a fool. She knew no one liked Audrey, and so far, no one, apart from Alex and Sandra had talked to her since she arrived.
She didn’t plan to draw much attention to herself, but, it seemed like she had been doing the exact opposite.
“Don’t ever touch her!!!” Alpha Sebastian’s wolf surfaced, his eyes were stormy Grey as he jumped at Alpha Lake.
Alpha Lake easily pinned him down, he was no match for him.
“You will show me respect!” Alpha Lake growled, quieting the whole room.
“Let’s go, Alpha.” Audrey gently placed her hand on Alpha Lake’s shoulder, calming him down immediately.
“Get up, Alpha Sebastian,” He stood up and offered his hand to Alpha Sebastian who was still on the floor.
He was still angry at him, but he had to protect his ego as an Alpha too.
Alpha Sebastian accepted the helping hand and stood up, but he angrily stormed off immediately, dragging Janeth along with him.
“That; was intense,” Audrey commented as they were seated inside the Alpha’s car.
He turned to Audrey and saw her resting her head against the chair with her eyes closed. He felt bad, this wasn’t the kind of experience he wanted her to witness this evening, but some certain she-devil wanted to spoil their fun. So far, they’ve gone without bickering since after the make-out session in her room, and he liked it. He wished it would always be that way between them.
“We could do a raincheck…”
“No! No, kitten. We’re going out,” He leaned over and turned her face to him.
“I’m sorry.” He kissed her softly on the lips, pecking her both cheeks.
“I’ll make it worth your while, trust me.” He assured her.
“Okay,” Audrey replied softly. She was feeling all mushy from his touches and kisses.
She couldn’t refuse when a hot and sexy Alpha was being this nice and sweet with her.
If she didn’t know better, she would have fallen for him without a second thought. But she knew better.
“You have a club?!” Audrey questioned, surprised.
They had driven far away from the Packhouse, into the city. The nightlife was awesome.
Street lights were glittering everywhere in the street and people… wolves, were walking around going about their activities.
Luxury cars were driving by every second and the fancy houses and skyscrapers added class and beauty to the city.
They came to a stop in front of a big building. A sizeable red neon sign that reads ‘LAKE’S CLUB’ was strategically hung at the top of the huge black building.
“Yes, kitten. Where did you think most of my wines were consumed?” He asked as he took her into the building.
They passed heavily armed security men who were dressed in black, bowing their heads to him as they passed, allowing him entrance without any questions.
Inside the club was booming with loud music, disco lights were glittering around the large dance floor and wolves were seen typically fucking each other, just, with clothes on.
Bodies were gyrating against each other and liquor oozed in the air.
At the far end of every corner, luxury leather sofas were placed in rectangular booths, and people were seen sitting; and enjoying their time.
“This is the general area. I’ll take you to the VIP. Come on don’t leave my hand!” Alpha Lake held Audrey’s hand tightly as he led her through the crowd of drunk and gyrating bodies.
Audrey was awed, she was trying to wrap her head around this discovery. She had never labeled Alpha Lake as someone who would venture into this kind of lifestyle and business. There were a lot of things she sure didn’t know about him.
They walked into a dimly lit passage and climbed up a staircase, they soon approached a large black double-door.
Audrey didn’t know what to expect as one of his security men pushed the door open for them.
Music was the first thing that welcomed them as they walked into the classy-looking room, but, it wasn’t as loud as the one she had just witnessed, the volume was just right.
Booths were divided with opaque glasses that didn’t let you see through them, maintaining the privacy of the occupants.
The dance floor was filled with sophisticated-looking men and women, dancing to their hearts’ content, like this was the only place they could truly be themselves.
“Sit,” Alpha Lake drew out a chair for Audrey to sit on when they went over to the bar counter.
“Thank you,” Audrey replied, taking her seat.
“The usual, Alpha?” A girl asked from the other side of the counter.
“Yes, Alice.” He replied.
Audrey didn’t like it. Audrey had a feeling the Alice girl had a hidden agenda.
She saw the way her eyes changed when she spoke to the Alpha and when he said her name.
“Alice?” Audrey could not help but ask.
She tried her best to sound as normal as possible, but he saw right through her.
His wolf gave a low throaty rumble as he felt the jealousy sipping from Audrey. Regal basked in the feeling of possessiveness he felt from his mate.
