Rose’s POV;
“Why did Elijah’s sister called you ‘Sister in law’ yesterday?” My tone was a bit hesitant when I was asking such a personal question to someone I just met.
Layla didn’t look surprise at all, like she was expecting such question from me.
“I knew you were going to ask that. I was waiting for it” She replied excitedly.
Calling it ‘Embarrassing’ won’t be enough to address how was I feeling right now. I literally wanted the car to crash and either Layla to lose her memories due to the accident or for me to die.
Anyways, dying due to accident would be better than dying out of embarrassment.
“He he…” My cheeks turned strawberry red when I awkwardly smiled at her which made her chuckle even more.
“Well, you see, I am Beta Liam Brown’s mate. He is also Elijah’s best friend” Layla
“Oh, I met Mr. Brown yesterday” I replied
“He would be glad if you call him Beta Liam though. See, in werewolf kingdom, they love it when you call them by their rank” Layla explained and I nodded.
“So, Liam is kind of adopted by Alpha King Elijah’s parents after his parents died during a battle. Elijah and our little demon Cora consider him as their own brother. Hence, Cora calls me sister in law sometimes”
“But you said you were his cousin. Shouldn’t she call him ‘brother in law’?” I asked confusedly.
For a moment, I felt like Layla’s eyes glowed. The smile on her widened and she looked at me with admiration.
“I love you” She said and chocked me in a tight hug.
I started coughing as she was a bit too powerful for me.
“I am sorry. It’s just…” She couldn’t speak as she was overwhelmed by the emotions.
“I said the same thing but nobody ever considered it. Both of my cousins ignored me like i was standing behind an invisible cloak” She spoke frustrated and with an audible ‘Uggh’ she added,
“And here, you acknowledge my position. I can’t tell you how happy I am”
I was speechless but she also didn’t care about my answer as she continued,
“You know what, no matter what I am always going to support you”
Her continuous motivation brought smile on my face.
“Thank you” I replied with a smile.
Although, she was enthusiastic and smiling throughout the conversation, I could still see some sort of sadness in her eyes.
I was in no position to ask her another personal question in such a short period, hence, I decided to keep the detail to myself.
We were occasionally having a small conversation in the rest of the car ride.
I was looking at Elijah’s name on the cell phone screen, unknowingly caressing my screen, when Layla’s voice brought me back to reality.
“We are almost here”
I looked outside of the window and all I saw was dense forest all around us till the eyes could see. Though surprisingly, the road was quite good to be in a middle of forest like it was a well made highway.
‘Am I going to stay in the forest? Do werewolves lives on trees?’
‘Freak! I should have brought a tent with me!’ My foolish a*s thought.
I was kind of in dilemma if I made a good choice to stay with Elijah. But the thought of making out with him on a tree made my cheeks pink.
Another thought crossed my brain, I was sitting inside the Mercedes Maybach, they wouldn’t just park a f*cking Mercedes under a tree and climb up.
The moment I remembered the quality of their clothes and their branded watches. I wanted to slap myself hard.
Just when I was about to ask Layla about the pack house, my jaw dropped by the sight of huge stone walls.
They opened the gigantic gate for us and caught the sight of what was inside those humungous walls.
Their pack house wasn’t a simple house or even a bunglow, it was an entire town surrounded by those walls.
As we were moving ahead, I was eagerly looking at the town with different kind of houses.
“Are these houses according to ranks?” I asked
“Yes, those huge bungalows belongs to all the Betas and higher ups. The old families, the old money. The small bungalows belongs to Gammas and so on” Layla
The smallest of the house there was bigger than Blue family house. These people are freaking rich!
“That’s Elijah’s house” Layla pointed towards our front.
I wanted to curse her. That wasn’t a house, it was f*cking castle!
“That’s not a house!” I narrowed my eyes at her.
“Oh yeah, that’s the castle of werewolf king” She giggled but I could see the pain in her eyes.
‘Is something wrong with me? She speaks like she is happy but all I could sense is pain in her eyes’ I thought
“The entire area inside the walls belongs to the Blood Diamond Pack House” Layla added
“Oh, so every pack house is this huge?” I asked
“Not really, the pack houses are like mansions where each and every families are given their quarters or chambers according to their ranks but the best of them is given to the family of Alphas. In our case, we are talking about the royals. Their pack house is like an entire town for us” Layla
“I see. So, pack houses are like the castle in front of us but a bit smaller”
“Yes” Layla nodded
As we pulled our car to the parking lot, a man opened a door for me. I smiled at him and he smiled back with a small bow. I was confused why did he bow though?
“Let’s go” Layla said grabbing my hand.
“Oh yes” I replied when she dragged me inside.
The entire house was screaming royalty. From chandelier to the carpets, the walls, the throne, the painting. Everything looked magnificent. It felt like a dream.
“My mother was fool!”
“What?” Layla asked confusedly.
“Oh nothing” I shook my head in embarrassed.
‘I can’t believe my mother left all of this to run away with my father? What’s so great about my father?’
“Let’s go to my room first” Layla said as she guided me through a long chamber.
After walking for a while, we finally reached her room.
It was huge. Everything here was pure luxury.
She went inside another room, which I suppose was her closet and came back with a beautiful knee length dress.
“You are nearly my size. You should get change in this before meeting her mother”
“I appreciate your efforts but…”
“Yeah, go get changed” She pushed me inside the closet and closed the door behind.
The closet was as big as her room and she had tremendous amount of clothes and accessories.
“Wow. Life is so unfair!” I said when I looked at the bathroom with Turkish bath, which was as bigger as the basement I was living in.
I looked at the beautiful peach lacey dress in my hand which was embellished with crystals. I shook my head, kept it on the table and went outside.
Layla was sitting at the couch waiting for me.
“Why didn’t you change?”
