Chapter 87
Vindicated.
Lily’s POV:
“Lily!” Kayla whispered as I got up from sleep.
“What is it?” I asked her.
“It is time!” She told me.
“Time for what?” I asked as I rubbed my eyes.
“It is time to sleep, you meant, huh?” I whispered back.
“No, stop acting like you do not know what I mean or what I am saying!” She told me.
“It is time for us to leave this horrible place!” She revealed.
“Are you serious?” I as you her.
“Yeah! Yeah!” She replied.
“Get up now!” She told me and I did as she said.
We went through the blind spots then we passed through a tunnel that looked already broken.
“How did this happen?” I asked her.
“I told you that I had my way around here, didn’t I?” Kayla replied with a smirk.
“Yeah, I trust you now!” I told her.
I added Kayla were at the point where we were going to be out of the prison, when the alarms went off and the prison lights shone on us.
“We have been caught, Kayla! We have been caught!” I shivered.
“What you both did here is a terrible crime, let’s see how the state will want to prosecute this!” They told us and the took us in for questioning.
“Officer, this was all the Lily’s plan.” Kayla said immediately we were told to have our seats.
“What!” I was shocked.
“Are you okay, Kayla?” I asked her.
“How will you say that I did this alone?” I continued.
“You asked me to come with you that you have gotten everything figured out now this?” I was disgusted to the bones.
“Officer,” I called.
“She is lying, she has so many materials that she used in plotting our escape!” I told them.
“Officer, I will take it up from her!” Detective James came whilst the officer left.
“So where were we?” He asked.
“I heard that two women were trying to break away from the prison, and they did not know that this is not the boxing ring, where you can roll out when you’d feel threatened, but this is a damn prison!” He said angrily and hit his fist angrily on the wooden table that it felt like he was going to break it.
“Detective, it was all her plan!” I told him
“She led me on and tricked me!” I told him.
“No, she did!” Kayla countered as he looked at the both of us in silence.
“I will be the only one who will be doing the talking here!” He told me.
“Now, where is Hailey… first of all?” He asked us.
“I do not know anything about her! I do not even know where she is at the moment and her state now!” I told him.
“How about you Kayla?” He asked her.
“Lily is lying!” She said.
“She knows everything about Hailey and how she was taken out of the psychiatry!” Kayla revealed.
“Wow!” Detective James exclaimed.
“And how about the escape?” He asked us.
“I know that you both are involved but who gave you the blueprints?” He asked us when Kayla kept on telling him that I was.
“Infact, if you go under her bed, you will see all that she uses for the operation!” She revealed.
“Okay!” Detective James said as he directed for our rooms to be searched.
“So, you carried out all of these pans of yours, just to get me implicated?” I asked her in pain.
“You should have thought of that when you were Megan’s friend for a long time!” She snapped at me.
“So, you did not like me all along, but you were just using me?” I asked her.
“Yeah!” Kayla replied firmly.
“At least, someone is going through the pains that I wanted Megan to go through and sorry because the lot fell on you!” Kayla said with no remorse.
“Oh my God!” I waited.
“I have been tricked!” I cried bitterly.
“How do I come and who will believe me now?” I wondered.
Detective James was back, and his hands were quite full.
“Kayla was right all along!” He told us.
“All of these were found right under your bed!” He revealed.
“So, the real Mastermind behind this is Kayla!” He said and turned to her.
“You meant to say Lily detective!” Kayla said as she forced smiling.
“No Kayla! I did not stutter!” He added.
“But how are you going to say that I masterminded this when you got the entire evidence from Lily’s stuff!” Kayla said trying to convince the detective.
“After you two, were brought in here I have noticed a thing!” He started.
“Lily is not strong minded. I mean… criminally minded as you are!” He told Kayla.
“She is going to spill everything as she is caught but not you Kayla, because from the very first day that you stepped foot here… you would not say a word about the crime that you were involved in!” He continued.
“So, you see that you are the real culprit and besides, the inmates opposite your cell room saw you Kayla trying to escape as you woke Lily out of sleep!” He revealed.
“You and Lily just increased your jail term, but I think your jail term will be worse than hers, because you lied to an officer of law!” He said and asked us to be taken to the cell before prosecution.
“Finally, I have been vindicated from your evil lies!” I told her.
“You will be suffering in hell!” I said and left.
But this time around, I asked that we are put in separate rooms, and it was affected even before I asked.
Finally, someone believes me. Finally, I’m not the villain. Kayla tried to twist everything, to make me look like the mastermind behind our escape. But the truth came out. I was just a pawn in her game, a game I didn’t even know I was playing.
I can’t believe I trusted her. I can’t believe I thought we were friends. She used me, manipulated me, and then tried to throw me under the bus. But it didn’t work.
Now I’m alone in this cell, away from Kayla’s toxic influence. I can finally think clearly, without her whispering lies in my ear. I can finally see the truth.
But what now? Where do I go from here? I’m still a prisoner, still trapped in this place. But at least I have my dignity back. At least I know I’m not the one who masterminded our escape.
I wonder what will happen to Kayla now. Will she face the consequences of her actions? Or will she find a way to wriggle out of it, like she always does? She’s so clever, so manipulative. I wouldn’t put it past her to convince everyone that she’s the victim.
But I know the truth. I know what she’s capable of. And I’m not going to let her get away with it. I’m going to make sure that everyone knows what really happened. I’m going to make sure that she pays for what she’s done.
I am not the same person I was when I first came to this place. I’m stronger now, more resilient. I’ve been through hell and back, and I’ve come out the other side. And I’m not going to let Kayla or anyone else bring me down again.
I am going to start fresh, start new. I’m going to leave the past behind me and move on. And I’m going to make sure that Kayla doesn’t get in my way.
