Chapter 86
Missing or?
Megan’s POV.
It is a new day and I found myself smiling as I got up from sleep.
It was certainly a new day with a lot to cover, but the memories from the previous day would not let me stop.
“What do we have for today?” I checked my schedule as I made me a cup of hot coffee.
I sipped when I realized that I had a meeting with Miles.
“My goodness!” I exclaimed.
“This came faster than I thought it would!” I said as I remembered that I was supposed to see.
“I will just get ready for this; I hope we get meaningful story out of this!” I hoped for the best.
I was standing front of miles firm when I texted Chris, to let him know where I was, and the door went opened.
“Welcome Megan!” He welcomed me and we got talking.
“He invited me over to his off and I followed.
“It is sad that you had to deal with Hailey in such manner!” Miles apologized.
“There is no problem, besides you were never a part of the mess that get caused.” I told him.
“And we are still on her trail waiting to get her out of her the hospital so she can face the consequences of her act!” I told him.
“I will have love to give you all the information you needed, but I have none!” He told me.
“But I have a strong feeling that Hailey is just pretending to be mentally unstable!” He told explained.
“Even me too, in fact I really wanted to know what is going on in that hospital!” I told him.
“Every single thing!” I added.
“That is the point!” Mil agreed immediately.
“I was even going to do that on my own before you spoke about it!” He revealed.
“Then let us do it!” I told him in excitement.
“Now!” I added.
We got to the hospital when miles stopped me from entering then he stood face to face with me.
“Megan!” Miles said as he took my hands into his.
“What?” I asked confused.
“What are you trying to do?” I asked him.
“Megan, I have been hiding this for a long time, but I think I like you!” Miles said as I felt a rush of disgust go through my body.
“Miles, are you okay?” I asked him.
“This is not the right place you should be doing this, even though I find this disrespectful.” I said as my eyes scanned through the area hoping not to find anyone that has popped their cameras up.
Good for me, it did not happen.
“I am so sorry!” He apologized.
“I think it is time that we go and see how Hailey’s doing!” Miles said and we proceeded into the ward.
But as we got in, the faces we saw were not approachable and they all looked hostile.
“What’s up with the look?” I whispered as we walked.
“I do not know!” Miles told me.
“That is not our business here! So, we should not be bothered by anything we see!” Miles encouraged me.
We were directed to where Hailey was, and it looked like no one have been put into that ward.
“Maybe, it is just old!” I told him.
“Let is push the door open!” I said.
“Okay!” We said as we tried with the whole of our strengths.
The door was now opened, and it was empty. It did not look like anybody has been there for years.
“What’s is happening here?” Miles asked.
He went on to ask whoever was in that room, but he seemed not to be getting any response.
“Hey! Hey!” I called him.
“There is a note!” I revealed.
It says, “do not bother to find me because I am in a new place with new people, but when the time is set, I will be back to be done with you all.” It threatened.
“Hailey!” I muttered.
It was left there by Hailey.
“I must let the detective know about this immediately.” I told miles.
“We are no longer safe, if Hailey is out there!” I added.
“I need to get to the police station now!” I told him and rushed out of there.
“Detective James, we need to talk. We went to the psychiatry ward to look for Hailey, but she is not there. It is like she never existed.” I panicked.
“Calm down, Megan and speak to me!” He told me.
“What do you mean she is not there? Did you check with the staff? Did they say anything about her being transferred or released?” He asked me.
“Of course we did! We spoke to the doctors, the nurses, everyone. They all said the same thing – Hailey was never admitted. It’s like she vanished into thin air.” I said.
“Even though that they behaved like they did not want us to be around there!” I told the detective.
“This does not make sense. We had a credible tip that she was being treated there. I even spoke to the doctor who was supposed to be treating her. He seemed convinced that she was a patient there.” Detective Hames told us.
“I know. And now we are back to square one. We have no idea where she is or if she is even safe. What if something terrible has happened to her or she escaped?” I asked him.
“Do not worry, Megan. We will keep searching. We will follow every lead until we find Hailey. I promise you that.” The detective said.
“Thank you, Detective. I do not know what we would do without your help. You are the only one who seems to be taking this seriously.” I appreciated his efforts.
“That’s what I’m here for, Megan. To help people like you. We will get to the bottom of this, I promise.” He assured me.
“I hope so. I just want Hailey back to face the consequences of her actions!” I told him.
“I understand. We’ll do everything we can to find her. In the meantime, can you think of anything else that might help us? Any other friends or acquaintances she might have confided in?” He asked me.
“Well, there is one person… her ex-boyfriend, Miles. But he has nothing to do with her now… and there he is.” I said pointing at Miles.
“Okay, miss Megan!” We will take it up from here! Thank you for your cooperation.
The detective said as we got ready to leave and face the business the rest of the day had for us.
