Chapter 82
Hope.
Lily’s POV:
The police surrounded the entire house, and the police officers broke into the room, I was kept in.
I was taken out then I noticed that the entire house has been raided and the culprits were all handcuffed.
Detective James walked up to me and before he could say a word, I was already talking.
Officer, I need to tell you everything. I have been kidnapped, held captive, and beaten. I was running from the law, but I did not deserve this.” I broke into tears.
“I got sold off to these people, by a man I called a friend!” I sobbed.
“Then, I got the recipe wrong when I was asked to make a meal, then they took me there!” I said pointing at the dark room.
“I was so scared and alone… They took me to a dark room and… and… they hurt me so much. They said I was a prisoner, a slave.” I continued.
“They said I belonged to them now. They took away my phone, my identity, my freedom. They made me feel like an animal, like a piece of property.” I narrated whilst they all looked like they missed the chance of getting me.
“I know I should be arrested, officer. I know I made a mistake by running. But please, please help me. I can’t take this anymore. I want to go home.” I told detective James.
” I want to be safe again. I want to feel the sun on my face, to breathe fresh air, to be able to walk outside without being afraid. I want to be able to sleep without waking up in terror, without feeling their hands on me.” I concluded.
“You should be very lucky that we were able to reach you, because this entire area has been disconnected from the police server!” He explained.
“You text me directly, for this reason we found you, but I how you did not say all of those things because you wanted to escape here!” Detective James told me.
“No, no!” I disagreed at once.
“Infact, I will tell you everything, officer. I will tell you about the people who took me, about the place where they kept me.” I said.
“I will help you catch them. Just please, do not leave me here. Do not let them find me again. I can’t bear the thought of being trapped again, of being at their mercy. I can’t bear the thought of being hurt again, of being beaten again.” I begged him earnestly.
“I know I do not deserve it, but please have mercy on me. I am not a bad person. I made a mistake, but I am not a criminal. I’m just a scared girl who wants to go home.” I pleaded with him.
“I want to start over, to forget this nightmare, to be able to sleep without waking up in terror. I want to be able to trust people again, to be able to trust myself again.” I continued.
“Please, officer, please help me. I’m begging you. Don’t let them win. Don’t let them keep me captive. I want to be free again. I want to be me again. I want to be able to live my life without fear, without pain. I want to be able to love again, to laugh again, to live again.” I begged as he looked on.
“Now, you know how it feels like to be in Megan’s shoe?” He asked me as he looked unshaken by what I have been saying.
“Please, officer, please believe me. I’m telling the truth. I’m not lying. I’m not making this up. I’m a victim, a survivor. I’m a girl who wants to be free. Please, please help me.” I continued.
“I never said you were making this up expect you want to tell me something different from this!” He raised his eyebrow then I got fed up because I had nothing more to say or even do.
“Lily, we are going to help you. We will get you out of here and make sure you’re safe. But first, we need to get the details. Can you tell me more about the people who took you?” He said then I felt relieved.
“What did they look like? What were their names? Where did they keep you? Any information you can provide will help us catch them and bring them to justice. We’ll do everything we can to make sure you’re safe, that you’re protected. You’re not alone, Lily. We’re here for you.” The detective told me.
“I will tell you everything, but can we go to the police station first, I don’t think we are safe here!” I insisted and they agreed.
We got to the police when I stood face to face with Kayla, she was having a session with her lawyer.
“Well, well, well. Look what we have here. Lily finally caught and arrested, just like I predicted. And alongside me, no less. I must say, I’m a little surprised. I didn’t think you had it in you to sink so low.” Kayla mocked me.
“Kayla, please… I know I made mistakes, but please have mercy on me. I’m not a bad person. I was desperate and scared. I didn’t know what else to do.” I was in tears at this point.
“Mercy? You want mercy? You showed me no merch. You wanted me to rot in prison, and now look where we are. We’re in the same boat, Lily.” Kayla mocked.
“We’re both paying for our mistakes. And I’m not going to lie, it feels kind of good to see you in this position. You thought you were so much better than me, didn’t you? You thought you could bring me down and get away with it?” Kayla whispered.
“Kayla, you dragged me into this. I didn’t know what to do. I thought I was doing the right thing.” I fired at her.
“No, Lily. You had your chance to do the right thing, and you blew it. Now we’re both facing the consequences. But at least I can take comfort in knowing that I’m not alone in my misery. ” She scorned.
“You’re right here with me, suffering just like I am. And you know what? I think this is exactly what we both needed. A little taste of our own medicine. Maybe now you’ll understand what it feels like to be in my shoes.” Kayla added.
“No one is having that here; you do not rule the world around here!” I yelled at her.
” But you are both going down, Lily. And we are going down together.” Kayla smiled coldly and left.
