Chapter 81
The arrest.
Lily POV:
We traveled for a long time, then we got to a mansion, which was sitting by the side of the ocean.
The man asked his assistant to take me out of his vehicle and when he had taken me out, he sanitize the entire car.
“My goodness! These men are mean!” I thought as they pulled me along to the house where I was stopped just when I was about to step foot into the room.
“We need to cleanse her!” They said as they poured water on me continuously.
“You will be cleaning the entire house, cooking for the entire home. I hope you cook well because we would not be spending such amount of money, on you when you barely know how to cook.” She told me.
“I cook well!” I stuttered but shivered silently because I know how bad i cook.
“Now, get to work!” She ordered.
“In the kitchen!” She added.
“She could be the woman of the house, I thought and got to the kitchen think about how I will overcome this.
I was done cooking when I nervously served the meal and I rushed back to the kitchen, because I knew that it tasted terribly.
“What that girl made for us? Poison!” The woman yelled that it felt like her voice was going to take the roof off the building.
I shivered in fear when I was taken to meet her, and I was meant to kneel.
“I am going to teach you a lesson!” She said when I was taken to a dark room immediately.
They beat me up so bad that I almost took my last breath.
I cried so much that day, that I wished I was arrested by the cops.
Why did I run? I was so stupid to think I could outrun the law. I thought I was escaping one hell, but I landed in another.
I was arrested for a crime I did not commit directly, who knows if Kayla’s has gotten the system was rigged against me? I knew I will be locked up for years, maybe even decades, so I ran away.
But where did it get me? Into the clutches of these monsters. They promised me safety, protection, and a new life. But it was all a lie. They sold me into slavery, and now I am nothing but a commodity to them. I am a prisoner, a slave, a piece of property.
I am pained.
I miss my old life, my family, my friends. I miss the freedom to walk outside, to feel the sun on my face, to breathe fresh air. I miss the simple things, like walking in the park, reading a book, or taking a shower whenever I want. I miss the life I once knew, the life I took for granted and Megan too.
I wish I could go back in time, surrender to the authorities, and face the consequences. I wish I could turn back the clock and make different choices. But I can’t.
But I can do nothing since I am stuck here, with no way out. I am scared, alone, and broken. I do not know how much more I can take.
I wish some shoes up. Please, someone, find me. Rescue me from this hellhole. I am begging you, please. I can’t take this anymore. I am not strong enough. I am not brave enough. I am just a scared, broken girl who wants to go home. I cried hard as these thoughts ran through my mind.
My thoughts are even more despairing and desperate. I am trapped in a living nightmare and begging for someone to rescue me sincerely.
“Hey! Bring her out!” I heard the woman order them.
“Finally, I will be out of here! At least slaving in that house is better than being here!” I said ready to get up when I felt something crack in my pocket.
It was my phone.
My joy knew no bounds as I rushed to get out of there.
At least, I will be able to call the police when I get out of here or… I will have to remain here so I will not have to work today.
“Let me be!” I yelled.
“I am not going to be in that house anymore!” I yelled at her.
“Then you all should do more hitting her, then when she is ready, she gets back into the house!” She ordered her and took her leave.
I lied on the floor for a long time until they all forgot about me.
I scanned through the environment, and I noticed that they were all gone.
“Phew!” I breath out, a little bit relieved then I took my phone out of my pocket.
Okay, Lily, you got this. You finally have your phone. Don’t let them take it away from you again.” I shrieked as I heard voices and my phone dropped to the floor.
“You have to be strong. You have to get out of here. You have been beaten, maltreated, and humiliated. But you cannot let them catch you now!” I told myself and grabbed it.
“No, no!” I screamed.
My phone was shutting down.
“I need to find a way to charge it. You can’t call for help with a dead battery.” I said almost in tears.
“Think, Lily, think. Where can you find a charger? Maybe in the room next door? Or in the hallway? You have to be careful; they might be watching you.” Different thoughts ran through my head, and it felt I was going crazy at once.
“Once you have a charge, call the police. Don’t bother with 911, they’ll trace the call and find you. Find a local number, someone who can help you. Detective James.?” I remembered the detective I was handling Megan’s case.
“I need to call him before this shuts out!” I told myself.
“What will you say? ‘Hello, Detective James. It’s Lily. I’ve been kidnapped and held captive. I’m being beaten and maltreated. Please send help.’ No, that’s not enough. You need to give him details. Where are you? What does the place look like? How many captors do you have?” I kept on thinking.
I will just send a text, so that even if my call will get tracked from here, he would have gotten my text.
“Stay calm, Lily. Don’t panic. You have got this. You’re strong. You’re a survivor. You’ve survived this long; you can survive a little longer.” I said while I waited for it to be delivered.
Don’t try to escape yet. You are not ready. You need a plan. You need a way out. Wait for the right moment. Maybe when they’re distracted? Or when they’re asleep?
Until then, stay put. Stay quiet. Stay alive. Don’t give them any reason to hurt you more. Just pretend to be submissive. Pretend to be broken. But inside, you’re planning your escape.
You got this, Lily. You’re going to make it out of here. You’re going to see your family again. You’re going to see the sunlight again. You’re going to be free again.
I got to hear siren everywhere.
“They are here.” I told myself as I took a breather of relief.
