Chapter 77
Justice at last
Megan’s POV:
“This is it!” I told Jane.
“It is high time to let the whole world know what is going on with me and see Kayla for who she truly is.” I concluded.
“Are you sure that you are in your right state of mind for this?” Jane asked me.
“You know, you can just hang on for some time!” Jane tried to dissuade me.
“No… the time is now!” I told her.
“I am coming out to let everyone know what is going on.” I concluded.
“But for now, let go spend the night in a guest house, then tomorrow it begins!” I alerted her then we left the area.
We got to the next available inn, but Jane stopped me from going there with her, which left confused.
“But why?” I asked her.
“So that no one will see you walk in because you know what that means!” She told me.
“Yeah! I will just wait for you in the car.” I agreed finally.
“But be fast about it please!” I begged Jane as she left the car.
In no time, Jane was back, and we got in.
“I think it is high time that I go to bed… it has been a long day you know!” I reminded her.
“Yeah… but are you not going to plan for tomorrow or?” Jane asked me.
“Fixed that Jane, the media will be here by tomorrow!” I informed her.
“Nice! Then have a nice sleep, I will be in my room!” Jane left at once.
I woke up to noises coming from outside, I got up to look from the window when I saw people with placards, chanting, ‘We need answers!’ they all said.
“Answers… here?” I wondered when I looked closer at the placards.
“Just for Megan.” I read silently when I realized that this whole thing was about me.
“What’s up with the crowd?” I wondered as I rushed to meet them.
“I only invited the media and now the entire city are justice!” I said.
“Megan!” Jane called as she rushed to meet me.
“Did you invite them all?” She asked me.
“How can I?” I asked Jane.
“You know how much I detest this kind of crowds!” I told her already panicking.
“Then who did?” She asked me.
“I do not know; I will just talk to you them.” I informed her.
“What is wrong with you all? Why is there a crowd waiting outside for this?” I asked the head of the team.
“This was supposed to take them by surprise but now it is not!” I said in frustration rubbing my forehead.
“I do not know why this happened, but we did … did not let out a lot of information.” She told me.
“Oh, but you did let out a little information, I guess!” I told her.
“Now, what if the crowd is not safe? What if someone is standing there to hurt me?” I asked her.
“No one will hurt you Megan, the police have fully secured the area!” She explained.
“Okay!” I said.
“I will be with you shortly!” I informed her.
I was set and walked out to meet the crowd, as soon as they all set their eyes on me, then they all screamed at the top of their voices.
“Megan is still here!” They echoed.
I went on to tell the entire world about the conspiracy and how Kayla and her gang have been trying to bring me down ever since the I won a match against her.
“She needs to be arrested immediately!” A voice screamed from the crowd.
“Yes! We need justice!” They chanted as I stood watching them and smiled on fulfilment to myself.
“Finally, I did it!” I thought.
“The bad guys will be brought to book!” I was overjoyed by this thought alone and could not wait to go back to living happily again.
I was still lost in thought when Chris walked up to me from the crowd, as the crowd cheered on without stopping.
I was extremely happy to see him. It has been a long time; I have seen him this happy.
“Now, you know that our relationship… our fake relationship cannot keep the bad guy’s away!” He said chuckling.
“I do not want to agree to that, but I guess that I have to!” I replied smiling.
“Because it even attracted them!” I said and laughed hard.
“I am happy to see you in this state. I am happy to see you happy, Megan!” Chris said as it hit me once more about how I was lucky to have someone like Chris in my life.
“Thank you for being here!” I told him.
“You are more than a friend; Chris and I am lucky to have you in my life!” I appreciated him.
“Aww! Are they not cute together?” The crowd cheered us on.
“Now, you are as free as the bird!” Chris said as I grinned brightly.
“It’s finally out. The truth is finally out. I’m free.
I cannot believe I kept that secret for so long without telling the world. I can’t believe I let Kayla, Lily, and Hailey control me for so long. I can’t believe I let Lily manipulate me, use me, and abuse me.
But I am not a victim anymore. I am a survivor. I am a warrior. I am a phoenix rising from the ashes.
I think back to all the times I was silenced, all the times I was threatened, all the times I was made to feel small. I think back to all the times I was told to keep quiet, to all the times I was told to hide the truth.
But I’m not hiding anymore. I’m standing tall. I’m standing proud. I’m standing loud.
I look out at the sea of faces, at the cameras and the reporters, and I know that I’ve made a difference. I’ve taken down monsters, and I’ve given a voice to those who were silenced. I’ve given hope to those who thought they were alone.
I think about Jane, about how she stood by me, about how she believed in me. I think about how she held my hand through the darkest of times, how she listened to me when no one else would.
I think about myself, about how far I’ve come, about how strong I am. I think about how I’ve grown, how I’ve learned, how I’ve healed.
And I smile. I smile knowing that I’ve won. I’ve won my life back. I’ve won my freedom back. I’ve won my voice back.
I take a deep breath, and I know that this is just the beginning. This is just the start of a new chapter, a new life, a new me. I am Megan, and I am unstoppable. I am a force to be reckoned with. I am a storm that will not be silenced.
I will continue to stand tall, to stand proud, to stand loud. I will continue to fight for truth, for justice, for freedom. I will continue to be a voice for the voiceless, a hope for the hopeless, a beacon of light in the darkest of times.
I am Megan, and I will not be silenced. I will not be stopped. I will not be defeated. I will rise, I will rise, I will rise.
