Chapter 78
The plan for an escape.
Kayla’s POV:
“Kayla!” Lily whispered through the window.
“Why are you still in bed?” Lily asked me.
“Why shouldn’t I?” I replied, still stuck to my bed.
“We are in deep trouble, Kayla!” She told me as my eyes widened waiting to know what she was talking about.
“Megan us back!” Lily announced.
“And she is not only back but she came back with a lot of drama that… sadly caught up to us!” She told me.
“Megan had a press meeting today, telling the whole world that we tried to kill her and abducted her too.” Lily informed me.
“Damn!” I was deeply angry by what Lily said.
“If we had killed or burier her alive that day, then we would not be experiencing all of these!” I told Kayla.
“Now how do I face the world? My fans?” I wondered.
“No… no, I need to get out here as soon as possible.” I told Lily.
“Sadly, I do not think you can be doing that now, because the police are already on their way here.” Lily expressed.
“Oh no! I have been ruined! Completely!” I grieved quietly.
“And it is all Hailey’s fault when she pushed me towards this!” Kayla blamed Hailey.
“Freeze!” I heard before I could even move an inch!” The police had surrounded the entire house already.
“We need you to come with us to the police station now and say nothing else it will be used against you in the court of law!” They warned.
We are at the police station, and I am bee asked questions, but I vow never to let a word out of my mouth.
“Are you not going to say anything?” The officer in charge asked me but I ignored.
“You have been arrested for conspiracy and attempted murder. You have the right to remain silent, but it is in your best interest to cooperate.” The police officer continued the interrogation, but I would not flinch.
“We have evidence linking you to the plot against Megan and, subsequently Jane. It is better to tell us what happened now rather than waiting until we uncover more evidence.” He said.
“Fine, we will do this the hard way. Let’s get you booked and into a cell. Maybe some time alone will help you think things through.” He said and directed the warden to take charge.
“Welcome, home celebrity!” The warden scorned.
‘Officer Johnson, please cuff her and read her rights again.” Another warden pleaded.
“You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you. Do you understand your rights?” He got frustrated here again.
“Let us get her out of here. Take her to the jail and book her, since she does not want to talk!” He said then officers led me away, booked me into jail, and left.
“I’ll deal with her later.” I overheard the officer say.
Hours pass, and then warden walks up to me and tries to get me to talk.
“What you did was very wrong, you know?” She said as I ignored.
“I will advise you to say something so that the charges that will be pressed against you will be lenient.” She advised me.
“When you are ready to talk. I have a deal!” She said and left me to myself.
I will not say a word. I won’t give them anything. I’ll sit in this cell and rot before I betray myself or my friends. I’ll wait for the perfect moment, and then I’ll make my move. I’ll escape, and I’ll make sure they never find me. I’ll start over, somewhere new, somewhere safe. I’ll never let them catch me again. I’ll never let them break me.
I have been in tough spots before, but I’ve always managed to wriggle out. I’ve always managed to stay one step ahead. And I will this time too. I’ll use my brains, my charm, and my wit to get out of here. I’ll play the game, I’ll pretend to be cooperative, and then I’ll strike.
I will wait for the perfect moment, when they least expect it. I’ll use their arrogance against them. I’ll use their complacency against them. I’ll make them think they’ve won, and then I’ll show them they’re wrong.
I will escape, and I’ll make sure they never forget the name Kayla. I’ll make sure they never forget the girl who outsmarted them, who outmaneuvered them, who outwitted them. I’ll make them regret the day they ever crossed me.
I’ll use every trick in the book to get out of here. I’ll use my knowledge of the system, my understanding of human psychology, and my quick thinking to outmaneuver them. I’ll create a diversion, a distraction, and then I’ll make my move.
I will escape, and I’ll disappear into thin air. I’ll leave no trace, no evidence, no clues. I’ll be a ghost, a shadow, a whisper in the wind. And they’ll be left with nothing but their own frustration and anger.
I am Kayla, and I am unstoppable. I am Kayla, and I will not be defeated. I am Kayla, and I will escape. Oh, this is going to be fun. This is going to be a game, a challenge, a thrill. And I am ready to play.
And for Lily, I will make sure she suffers since she thinks she can outsmart us by trying to save Megan.
This is going to be one of the worst phases of her life, because she will be the first person I will be visiting when I get out of her.
To think, Lily and Hailey are still out there, living their lives, free as birds. They’re just as guilty as I am, but they got away with it. They got to keep their freedom, their families, their lives.
I’m the one who took the fall, who paid the price. I’m the one who suffered, who lost everything. And for what? So, they could get off scot-free? I will not let it happen.
I am angry, I’m so angry. I’m angry at the system, at the world, at Lily and Hailey. They owe me, they owe me big time. And one day, I’ll make them pay. One day, I’ll make them sorry they ever crossed me.”
I clenched my jaw in a tight line. I am no longer the same person who walked into prison, I am harder, I am angrier, and more determined than ever to get what I deserve.
