Chapter 69
Exposed.
Megan’s POV:
“Don’t you think that there is something creepy about her…” Lily whispered speaking to me, referring to Veronica.
“No!” I replied.
“I do not see anything wrong with her?” I explained.
“You do not see anything wrong, or you are not ready to see… you are blinded by lot of things, Megan, because you think that she is your mentee!” Lily told me as I watched her explain.
“The other day, didn’t you noticed how she wanted escaping when you saw her using your laptop?” Lily reminded me.
“Yeah, but she was not doing anything wrong!” I defended her.
“Infact, I went through my system, and I noticed that she did nothing!” I explained.
“Hmm, Megan!” Lily sighed.
“Sometimes so you wonder where people like Hailey get their information from?” Lily asked me.
“Whatever!” Lily shoved the question aside.
“I did a little background check on Veronica and guess what?” Lily asked me.
“I found out that she is Kayla’s sister!” Lily said as she paused for some time.
“Kayla your competition!” Lily said.
“Wow!” I sighed immediately she said that.
“But there is no way Kayla can do anything to me. I am way above her.” I explained.
“She can only whine!” I waved it off.
“Lily, I’m telling you; Kayla can’t touch me. She thinks she is so powerful, but she is just a bully. I have done nothing wrong, and I have got nothing to hide. If she tries to come after me, I will just expose her for the manipulative liar she is. And I will make sure everyone knows the truth about her little games.” I elaborated noticing how
“Megan, I do not know if that is a good idea. Kayla has a lot of influence, and she’s not afraid to use it. She has already ruined lives, and I do not want to see you become her next target. She’s got a lot of followers, and they will do whatever she says.” Lily tried to make me understand.
“Influence? Ha! Kayla’s just a scared little girl trying to hold on to her precious popularity. She can’t handle the truth, and she can’t handle me. I’m not afraid of her, Lily. And I’m not going to let her bully me into silence. I’ll stand up for myself, and I’ll make sure she knows she can’t push me around.” I insisted and Lily shook her head in disapproval.
“Just be careful, Megan. I do not want to see you get hurt. You are one of the few people who’s been kind to me since I transferred here, and I don’t want anything to happen to you. You’re a good person, and you don’t deserve to be bullied by someone like Kayla.” Lily told me.
“Don’t worry, Lily. I can handle Kayla. And if she tries to come after me, I will make sure everyone knows the truth about her little games. I’ll expose her for the manipulative, bullying, fake friend she is. And when I do, she’ll be the one who’s left with nothing. No friends, no influence, nothing. And it will serve her right.” I explained succinctly.
“But she has Veronica… remember?” Lily said.
“Veronica cannot do nothing… she is just a naive schoolgirl!” I told her.
“Okay, Megan. Just be careful, okay? I don’t want anything to happen to you.” Lily revealed.
“I will, Lily. Do not worry about me. I can take care of myself. And I will make sure Kayla does not get away with her lies and manipulation anymore. It’s time someone stood up to her, and it might as well be me.” I concluded.
“Alright!” Lily said with her hands in the air as a sign of surrender.
“I will just go back to what I was doing!” Lily said.
Few minutes after Lily was gone, I heard noises coming from behind the curtains.
“What is that?” I asked
“Or did anyone bring a pet to work today?” I asked myself and went closer to the curtain.
Love and behold, standing before was Veronica. She has been eavesdropping and someone else has been listening to our conversation.
“What are you doing there?” I asked her.
“No… nothing!” She stuttered.
“You cannot tell me that!” I told her.
“What do you have there?” I asked as I took off a device pinned to her chest.
“A recording device!” I said after scrutinizing the device.
“So, who are you working with?” I asked her with all seriousness.
“Who! Tell me” I yelled at her.
“I am so sorry, Megan!” Veronica pleaded in tears.
“I do not need you to be sorry… are you working on your own or for someone!” I yelled at her, and she shivered in fear.
“Megan!” Chris came running into my office as he heard me scream.
“Why so angry?” He asked as he got into the office.
“What is going on here?” He asked as he was confused seeing is in such a state.
“Here!” I said as I threw the recording device across to him.
“I think you have been right concerning her all along!” I told Chris in disappointment.
“She has been spying on us here!” I revealed.
“Damn! I guess I was never wrong then!” Chris said with a smirk on his face.
“What!” I asked.
“Why do you have that look on your face? It is not funny you know!” I snapped at him.
“I am sorry!” Chris apologized immediately.
“But you need to know who she is working for!” Chris reminded me.
“Veronica, I think it is high time that you answer the question!” I told her.
“Speak up else I will be forced to hand you over to the security!” I screamed.
“I am afraid to say it… else I will be in deep trouble!” Veronica quivered in fear.
“Then, I will just…” I said as she cut I quickly.
“It is Hailey and Kayla!” Veronica said leaving all of us dumbfounded.
“I never wanted to do this, but she threatens to throw me out of the house and that will in turn render me homeless!” Veronica said.
“Phew!” Chris sighed.
“I guess we were not far from the truth!” Chris said.
“Lest I forget, we also have…” Veronica said when Lily barked into the room.
“I know, Megan. I was weak and stupid. But please, don’t expose me… my reputation will be ruined…” Veronica begged in tears.
“Your reputation? You are worried about your reputation? You should be worried about your conscience. You and Hailey have hurt so many people. It ends now.” I said irritably.
“Megan, please… have mercy…” Veronica begged.
“No mercy, Veronica. You and Hailey will face the consequences of your actions. And I’ll make sure everyone knows the truth about your little conspiracy.” I insisted.
“What’s going on here?” Liy asked
“It’s nothing let’s get to work!” I waved her question aside.
