“I’ve had enough to eat. Mr. Price, you’re airsick, lie down and rest for a while.”
Flynn got up and left directly.
“We’ll see you out,” Roman quickly stood up.
Everyone left the suite together.
At the same time, a Beetle car stopped in front of the Crimson Star Hotel.
Madeline took out a makeup mirror, tidied herself up, and got out of the car.
Last time at Plenilune Mountain, Flynn interrupted her, and she didn’t get to thank Nathan. Later, Nathan helped her at Lilia’s banquet, so Madeline felt it necessary to come and thank him. Moreover, she had another purpose: to see Nathan’s attitude towards her. After all, their previous meetings had others present; this time, it would be just the two of them. Madeline could capture some of Nathan’s true thoughts from his words and actions.
What if Mr. Fletcher confesses to me?
Thinking of this, Madeline suddenly got excited and her face flushed.
“I can’t agree immediately; I must maintain my pride, or else I’ll seem too easy.”
“Hmm? Isn’t that… Mr. Price?! Mr. Sheppard!”
As Madeline was thinking, she saw the Sheppard family mother and son along with Mr. Price coming out of the lobby. Nathan and Flynn were inside the lobby behind them, seemingly discussing something.
“Flynn? Why is he like a persistent plaster? So annoying!” Madeline felt irritated but then thought it through. After all, Flynn was Nathan’s subordinate; it was only natural for him to come over for instructions. Sigh! Thinking about it, Flynn was quite pitiful too. His boss liked his ex-wife. Who could accept that? But who could be blamed? If you lack ability yourself, you can’t blame others. Only a born leader and future extraordinary hero can marry me!
Haha, Marcel, you probably don’t know that Nathan likes me yet. I really want to see your reaction when you find out; you might abandon Flynn and kneel before me begging for forgiveness! That day at the Peninsula Hotel, I didn’t bring up Nathan because I didn’t want to trouble him or let him think I’m just a useless vase relying on men. When Nathan confesses to me, we’ll settle this score properly! Hmph! Those who look down on others!
Madeline thought about these things while crouching behind a car and peeking towards the lobby entrance. She wanted to wait until everyone left before meeting Nathan alone. Flynn must not know about this for now; after all, Nathan still needed him as a shield.
“Mr. Price cured my illness; I really don’t know how to thank you enough. Are you sure you can’t come to Pelens?” Mrs. Sheppard asked Mr. Price again while waiting for Flynn.
Roman smiled and said, “It was no trouble at all; there’s no need to be so polite.”
“I appreciate the Sheppard family’s kindness, but I really can’t make it.”
Mrs. Sheppard nodded in disappointment and waited quietly for Flynn to come out.
Inside the lobby behind them, Flynn asked for a photo of Dr. Isaac.
After a brief conversation, they both headed out.
“They’re coming out!” Madeline felt a bit excited.
Once Flynn left, she could meet Nathan alone.
However, before Flynn even exited the lobby, Madeline’s phone rang.
“Daughter, something terrible has happened! Your grandfather is sick and critically ill!”
Paulina’s anxious voice came through the phone.
“What? He just had a stomach ache this morning; how is he now critically ill?” Madeline was shocked.
“I don’t know either! He’s soiling himself and vomiting blood now; your father and I are rushing to the hospital. You need to come back quickly.”
“It doesn’t matter if the old man dies; we must be there when his will is read!”
Paulina urged anxiously.
“I’m coming right away!” Madeline reluctantly glanced at the lobby before getting into her car and heading towards the hospital.
Following the address, she quickly arrived at Niarak Golden Oak Hospital Center and went up to the third-floor ward.
The Kaur family relatives were already gathered there.
Paulina and Matteo had arrived earlier.
“How is Grandpa?” Madeline rushed into the ward and approached Frank’s side.
She was stunned when she saw him.
Frank had his eyes closed; his face was sallow, breathing weakly with a respirator on.
The room reeked of excrement.
“We don’t know either! Grandpa went to the bathroom several times this morning and finally collapsed onto the toilet unconscious.”
“He has been feeling unwell for two days; we thought it was just minor ailments due to old age but didn’t expect it to be this serious.”
“Who would have thought? He used to have minor rheumatic issues but got much better after taking Acebegron Clear Relief injections. We thought he would live long but now he’s struck by severe diarrhea.”
Everyone looked sad; women were crying softly with tissues in hand but no tears on their faces.
“Grandpa…” Madeline’s tears flowed down her cheeks.
In recent years, Frank hadn’t treated her well but still made her president of the company which she greatly appreciated.
“Dad, wake up! Please wake up!” Matteo also looked sorrowful as he continuously called out.
No matter how biased Frank was towards others; he was still Matteo’s father who felt heartbroken seeing him near death.
At that moment Frank suddenly spat out another mouthful of blood from his mouth causing doctors to rush in for emergency treatment pushing everyone out into hallway where they stood lost in their thoughts
“The doctor said it’s liver Grandpa might not make it through tonight.”
“Sigh! How did this happen? We should discuss funeral arrangements now so there won’t be chaos during mourning period.”
“Yes! Let’s prepare everything including dividing assets among us beforehand.”
“Yeah I agree; let’s inventory Kaur’s Group assets & distribute accordingly.”
“Nonsense!” Matteo shouted angrily with a pale face “Dad isn’t dead yet & you’re already thinking about inheritance? Have some shame!”
Everyone fell silent under his scolding but exchanged glances with disdain
Elder brother Max spoke up “Matteo they do have point Dad’s condition looks dire if we settle inheritance now things will go smoother during funeral otherwise there’ll be disputes”
“No way! Until Dad breathes his last anyone mentioning inheritance will face my wrath!” Matteo declared firmly “And let me tell you Dad has hidden stash only he knows its location if he dies no one can find it!”
This revelation sparked interest among relatives “Hidden stash? How much money? Why didn’t Dad tell us?” Max asked eagerly
Matteo sighed inwardly but maintained serious expression “It’s annual dividends converted into jade & gold worth sixty million dollars only Dad knew its location because he knew you’re all ungrateful wolves!”
Hearing this everyone started crying loudly hoping Frank would see their filial piety upon waking up
“Quiet down! The patient is stabilized but still needs oxygen support keep noise down!” The doctor scolded sternly before leaving looking grim
Frank was sixth patient admitted yesterday with strange symptoms each having different issues like headaches heart pain lung infections spleen swelling-all critical cases baffling hospital staff
In fact hospitals across Niarak & neighboring cities even some outside provinces were receiving similar patients though unaware of each other yet by tonight news would spread widely
