104. Macy looked at the caller ID and it was a new number. A number she hadn’t saved in her phone book and she didn’t answer.
Richard didn’t say anything as he looked at her and continued holding her had playing with her fingers.
“So, have they been located? Maxwell, that is,” Macy asked to break the tension she could feel brewing between them.
She knew that Richard felt guilty for her breakdown but she wanted him to know that it wasn’t any fault of his.
“It wasn’t your fault you know,” Macy said looking at him kindly.
He seemed lost in thought as he hadn’t even answered hernqiestion yet.
“What? Oh, sorry. Cash is still looking for them but he tells me he’s on their trail. I am trying to think who might be helping them,” Richard said because something didn’t feel quite right.
He knew that Maxwell was just a doctor and even if he had money, it wasn’t to such an extent that he could hide.
Thay would only mean that someone was helping them hide. Someone who either didn’t know that the child was Richard’s or he was trying to poke his nose into the snake’s hole.
“Its okay. I’ve waited for seven years and I am sure a few more days won’t hurt though I have to admit that I am eager to meet him.
I have thought that he was dead. Heck, I even thought it was a girl.
I will forgive them if they brought him up well but if they hurt him…” Macy left the threat hanging.
Richard didn’t tell her but he had already started dealing with anything Maxwell was involved in including his family.
He didn’t care because the man had decided to be unscrupulous by cohooting with bad people and stealing his baby from a helpless young girl.
“But, you have neglected your work since this whole issue started and I am sorry that I am the reason.
So, since I am better, no arguments please,” Macy said stopping Richard from making the argument he was about to make, and continued, “since I am better, I want to go see Mel and you have to go to work.
Come back home later. I am sure she misses us,” Macy said and Richard tried but she didn’t budge.
She wanted to be with him because he gave her the emotional support and she loved being close to him but she also knew that he had work to do.
They got ready and as much as Richard wanted to stay with her, she wouldn’t let him.
He drove her to the villa where Ash and Mel were and then left for the office.
What she didn’t know was that he didn’t go to work. He knew that the company could run smoothly but he had a few things to deal with.
First, he had to deal with the drug dealer who had stolen his truffles and whose info they already had thanks to Cash infiltrating his base, secondly, there was the issue with Angela. May knew where she was and they were just buying time to make sure that she felt safe before they could strike and third, there was the issue if Maxwell.
The doctor was number one in his list since he had Richard’s boy.
Over the course of his work since he was a teenager when he and his gang were doing illegal hacking and giving people fake identities to him being discovered by the Intelligence Agency and given the option to either work for them or go to prison for years, he had never forgiven anyon who dealth in illegal business especially drugs and human trafficking.
This meant that even if Maxwell had brought up his buy well, Richard would not forgive him because that meant that he had taken many others from unsuspecting mothers and sold them.
That is why Richard had put people in the hospital to investigate all the cases the said doctor had ever worked on.
He didn’t tell Macy this because she didn’t know that he was a government intelligence officer and the best spy the office has ever had in the last twenty years.
He was also very strong and had risen up the ranks in such a short time that others were even afraid of him.
What everyone who knew The Dragon knew was that he would askt corrupt and didn’t use any unscrupulous methods to rise to their Commander and General. It was due to sheer hardwork and he ajd caught more criminals in ten years than they all had put together in the same number of years.
The only person who knew who Richard really was his father and that was why his father had the know how to look for him when he disappeared to LA.
As Richard was planning with his people on th best way to look for Maxwell and make arrests on the drug dealers, Macy was having the time of her life with Mel.
She had missed the little one and she was grateful that she was there as playing with Mel made her forget what woes albeit for a while.
“Mama, I see you. You are It!” Mel shouted as she parted the curtains where Macy was hiding.
“Then this It will eat your ears!” Macy said in a distorted voice as she rushed after Mel with her hands outstretched.
The little girl ran out of the room with scres of joy as she ran from being eaten by the It.
Macy ran after her matching her laughter until she caught up with Mel and lifted her up.
“Now, this It will make sure you have no ears to listen anymore,” Macy said as she tickled Mel.
Mel laughed begging her to let go but Macy was unrelenting as she out Mel on the couch and continued tickling her on her side and feet and she held her down.
“Okay, okay, mama, I give up. You aren’t It anymore,” Mel said and Macy stopped tickling her but still held her down.
“Awwww! But being It is fun because I get to eat you. Next I was going to eat your fingers,” Macy said with a smile and Mel laughed.
“You have already eaten my ears, my toes and now my fingers? By the time you are done with me I will be a cripple!” The young girl said with a giggle that made Macy melt.
“Then this mama will be here to carry you around,” Macy laughed as she went back to tickling the small girl.
It was at that time that the maid came rushing holding Macy’s phone.
“Ma’am, your phone was ringing for a while where you left it at the living room table,” the young girl said and Macy took it with a grateful smile.
“Thank you Lou,” she said but by the time she was taking the phone, the call and ended.
Macy let go of Mel and looked at the young girl, “go with aunt Lou and let me see who it was. I will be right back, okay?” Macy asked Mel who beamed at her and said okay.
Mel took the other girl’s hand and they left hand in hand and Macy could hear Mel’s animated voice as she and Lou argued.
Mel wanted ice cream but Lou was telling her that it was almost time for dinner and she could take a little scoop after dinner as desert.
“But aunt Lou, I will only take a little and leave space for food,” Mel said and Macy laughed as the voices were swallowed by the kitchen.
She opened her phone and went to the missed calls section. It was the same number that she didn’t know and there were four missed calls.
She decided to call and see who it was since the person had called five times now.
‘It could be important,’ Macy thought as she dialled back.
The phone didn’t ring for long before it was picked on the third ring.
“Hello?” Macy said and there was static on the other side and no one said anything.
“Helloooo?” She said again and she heard shuffling on the other side and then silence.
“Why did you call if you aren’t going to talk? I am hanging up,” she said and before she could make true her threat, she heard a voice.
A deep male voice said, “do you want your child back?”
Macy stiffened at that and she didn’t even feel herself stand up, “who are you?” She asked, feigning calmness though ehr heart was running a mile per second.
“Not important. If you want to see your child, come to the address I will send you. Come alone. No police. Of you come with the police, we shoot the boy on sight.
Be here in an hour otherwise the deal is off,” the voice said and the call was disconnected.
Macy sat there with the wheels in her brain turning. She knew that that call could mean that it was true they had the boy or someone wanted to harm her but she had never been afraid of danger.
In fact, she thrived where danger was.
She looked at her phone and then bolted upstairs.
‘You think you can have one over me? Let’s see. If the child is there, well and good. If he isn’t, I beat your asses and feel good,” she said as she changed into her leather pants and jacket.
She then sneaked out of the house into the garage by climbing down the back railings and then took her motbike from the garage.
She smiled as she felt the night wind caress her cheeks as she rode off the villa.
