OLIVIA’s POV
My gaze held that of Damon’s desperate eyes looking at me. I bit my lower lip and stood up on my feet since he had already done the same.
“What do you say? Will you come on a walk with me?” He asked.
I eagerly nodded my head at him and smiled. Going out of the tower wouldn’t be that bad, and besides, I need some air that is not of this place right now.
“Great. Then, can we go now?” A little chuckle escaped my mouth at his response. It made me curious to know why he wanted to go out with me.
He has never done that before.
On second thought, I was scared of what the people might say about him or me if they saw us together.
I am an omega. It will only take just one person to get the entire pack to know who I am.
There is no way I am ashamed of my rank in the pack. That is not the reason I do not want anyone to find out.
I am scared of people’s ridicule. They will stop at nothing but humiliate me and look down on me for being an omega.
“Okay,” I replied. Alpha Damon grabbed some of his things before taking hold of my hand and dragging me out of the room with him.
He must’ve communicated with his beta, Luca, because he appeared before us before we got to the gate.
Without complaining, Damon took his time to show me around the place. I grew up here, but I do not know all these places.
The only place I am familiar with is my uncle’s house and now, the tower.
Being given a good day to tour around like this excites me. Coupled with the fact that I am in the company of the two most important people in the pack.
“Is there anything you want to do? I will let you do it,” Damon pointed out. I repeated the words a few times in my head as I thought of what to do.
There are so many things I want to do that I can’t make up my mind on a particular thing.
“Can we just walk around to the market?” I requested, after deliberating for a minute. Both Luca and Damon turned to me with a questioning gaze.
“Of all the places, you want to go to the market where it’s very crowded?” Alpha Damon asked, and I passed him a smile with a nod of my head.
They might be thinking that I am weird with my choice of place but I want to go to the market because of its crowdy nature.
I have never been to a crowded place before, so I don’t know how it feels to see many people at the same time.
“Let’s go,” he said without arguing with me. I fell into step with both of them, with the smile still plastered on my face until we got to the market.
Just like I thought, there were so many wolves of different ranks. The mixed scents gave off a different aura.
“Can you stay here for a bit? Don’t move around, we will be back in a flash” Alpha Damon said, his eyes fixed on the opposite direction as if he saw something he had to go after at that very point.
I wanted to ask where they were going or why they were leaving but I couldn’t; I ended up nodding my head in response.
“Don’t leave this spot or wander, I don’t know how to begin a search for you if I can’t find you,” Both Damon and Luca left right after he uttered that statement.
Fear consumed me as I found myself alone in the midst of people who were nothing but strangers to me.
As I stood there staring in the direction, they went in hopes of seeing them coming back to me as soon as possible.
I was no longer that interested in being here anymore. I couldn’t even look around. What if they don’t come back? I didn’t know my way back to the tower, and people were already beginning to notice my presence.
In the process of turning, I bumped into someone. “I am sor-” my sentence hung in my mouth, and my eyes grew wider as I stared at the person in front of me in dread and astonishment.
“Wow, look who we have here. I didn’t think I would see you this soon,” Karen, my sister, articulated.
There was also a surprised look on her face, but it took her a few seconds to replace the surprise with a smirk. Did I run out of luck?
Of all the people that I know, why did I have to run into Karen? I took a step back as she folded her arms, moving closer to me with every step I took backward.
“And what is the Alpha’s maid doing here? Are you supposed to walk around like this?” she queried. The icy look on her face was enough to scare me to death.
I am not supposed to feel this way anymore, but I can’t help it. I can’t stop being afraid of my family members, especially Karen, who could kill me if the opportunity present itself to her.
“I bet you thought you had escaped me, you little crone! I hate the fact that Alpha Damon chose a beautiful and mature girl like me over you,” she rambled.
“It was not my fault,” I managed to say, but my voice betrayed me. I was shaking in fear and I couldn’t hide that. It will give her the liberty to walk over me as she as she wants.
I also didn’t force myself on Alpha Damon. Her parents were the ones who tossed me to him after denying any blood relation between us. Why is she taking it out on me? I didn’t do anything.
“Whose fault? Was it mine then?” she asked, scrutinizing my body with her gaze. “You now look better than when you were with us. Your dress looks expensive. He is taking care of you,” Karen pointed out.
I bit my lower lip and took another step back while turning to see if Alpha Damon and Luca were already coming, but I didn’t see any of them.
He said he wouldn’t take time, but it has been five minutes since they left. “I am the one that is supposed to be in your position” Karen grabbed my hair and gave me a slap that made me stagger.
“You do not deserve anything good in your life, Olivia. You should be wherever your parents are. That is the only way I can have whatever I want. I will become the Alpha’s Luna”
Karen threw a punch at me and a growl exited my mouth.
“You are nothing but a lowlife omega. Do you think that the Alpha will not abandon you? Just wait and see, your happiness will not last forever. You will come back running to us,” she cursed.
I winced in pain as her grip on my hair tightened. My hands instinctively held hers, trying to remove her hands from my hair. My scalp hurts.
The passersby didn’t do anything to help me. They ignored us as if nothing was happening, as though they couldn’t see how Karen was trying so hard to make me bald.
A small tear dropped onto my cheek. I stepped away from her the moment I could push her away. Why does she hate me?
I have always been in her shadow since I was young. I was left with the things that Karen no longer fancies while she got to enjoy everything she wanted as a child.
Her parents love her. They would do anything as long as she asks for it. Why would she hate me when I can’t be compared to her?
I am an omega and she has beta blood. We are two different people, and the world has become a place where your rank speaks for you.
“What did I do wrong to you, Karen? Why do you despise me this much?” I asked, with tears streaming down my face.
“I don’t need a reason to hate someone like you. I hate the whole of your existence. Can you just disappear forever?” she questioned.
Just as she was about to come towards me, her friend appeared, panting like she was being pursued by someone.
“Let’s get out of here, Karen. Alpha Damon is coming this way,” she informed. Looking at the mess she had done to me, Karen retreated.
“Don’t be too relaxed, Olivia. I will come back for you, I promise” With that, she left with her friend. I sighed and sat down on the floor, burying my face between my knees.
My cheek was hurting, and I felt as if she removed some strands of my hair because it hurt even more. If I had known that I would run into Karen, I would never have suggested that we come to this place.
The small pat on my shoulder startled me. “Are you okay?” a familiar voice asked. I hastily wiped my tears with the back of my hand and stopped up, plastering a smile on my face.
“I am fine. I was just tired of standing,” I lied. I am sure Alpha Damon knew that too, but he didn’t press further and I was glad he didn’t.

Two months later….
The past two months have been the shortest and hardest months of my life. In three days, I will be turning and Alpha Damon has been avoiding me for weeks.
He doesn’t call me to his room any longer, and he practically shuns me. He also screams at me at every slightest mistake.
He suddenly started treating me coldly for so many reasons, but our agreement outweighed all of them.
Is he mad that I might find my mate on my 18th birthday? Does he not want to end our agreement?
