The walk

DAMON
Droplets of water clung to my skin as I stepped out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around my waist.
I felt re-energized after taking a cold shower, and throughout the entire bath, I could not stop beaming. Being with Olivia does nothing but make me delighted for some unknown reasons.
My eyes grasped her stunning figure seated gracefully on the edge of my bed. Her interesting features drew me in with an irresistible enticement.
Her delicate curves, soft lips, and eyes hold universes within them. Her hair, a cloudburst of silk, falls elegantly to the side, framing her face like a nimbus.
Her presence filled my cold room with fervor as she sat there with a flushed face that made her more beautiful. She was reeking of nervousness, and I could not tell why.
My steps sputtered in the middle of the room with my attention on her. She hummed and fidgeted with the hem of her gown, ostensibly not aware of my presence until I cleared my throat.
Her innocent, pristine eyes fell on me, her lashes flickered and she passed me a warm smile.
Being aware that this adorable female belonged to me created a tenacious feeling inside of me.
“Why are you not at the table?” I posed, finally moving away from my position. I thought she’d be eating by now, but she was just seated, biting her lips and changing positions.
We’ve spent eight months together. Does she still feel uncomfortable around me? The thought of that got a frown on my face.
I pushed her away and scolded her a few times but that was it. “I was waiting for you,” she responded.
We arrived here from the garden about an hour ago and I made her take a bath first since I did not want to make her uncomfortable by suggesting that we bathe together.
Olivia is also young. I do not plan on wearing her out. I don’t know what will happen if we bathe together. Olivia is way too alluring if anything could happen if I am with her.
“Go and wait for me at the table, I will join you soon” I sprinted towards my closet and I saw some clothes already laid on top of it.
I chuckled as I inspected the shirt, and trousers Olivia picked out for me. That was the first time she had thought about something like this and I loved it.
Having no time to waste since it was past breakfast time and we hadn’t eaten, courtesy of my shenanigans, I slipped the clothes on my body and sauntered out.
My body dried itself while I was engaging Olivia in a conversation a while ago, so there was no need for me to do that.
I joined her on the table, thankfully; the food was still warm. “I am here now, so can you eat?” I asked. She bobbed her head, and we began eating in silence, with me stealing glances at her.
She is still young but anyone would mistake her for a 21-year-old female wolf because of her build. She does look petite but also sturdy, beautifully.
She didn’t raise her head the whole time we were eating, not even by mistake. “Do you still feel uncomfortable around me?” I asked.
She paused, ultimately taking a look at me while shaking her head in response. I creased my forehead together at her response.
“Even right now, it looks like you’d prefer the ground to open and swallow you than to sit across me, like this,” I pointed.
I do not know why I mentioned it, but then, there are things that we need to clarify between us. Olivia choked on her food, suddenly avoiding my gaze as if I had exposed her darkest secret.
The fact that she could not utter a word means that I am right. “Why? Do I look scary?” I threw the question at her.
“No” she replied monotonously with her gaze still failing to meet mine. I have done everything I could within these past months that we have been together to make sure she is comfortable.
I barely treat her badly, even though I am unsympathetic towards others. People might recognize me as a good Alpha who takes care of his pack, but that might be the only thing I am known for.
Since everyone is afraid of me, they wouldn’t fancy me that much, right? It’s not surprising to find out what people think about you.
I would not blame them for any reason, and I also do not care about what they think of me. The situation always changes people.
“Listen, Olivia. I am doing everything I can to make sure that you have a comfortable life around me. I barely even yell at you,” I growled in displeasure.
Her gaze met mine and for a minute, she just kept staring at me without saying anything, as though she was trying to read my expression to see if I was mad or not.
She lowered her gaze and slowly dropped her spoon. “I am sorry” she apologized, an apology that came with a sigh.
“Why are you apologizing?” I questioned. She briskly glanced at me and shifted on her seat.
“I am not uncomfortable around you, it’s just that-” she paused, her cheeks turned red, and I couldn’t figure out why the nervousness earlier gave way to a blush.
“It’s just that?” I followed, but she shook her head instead of uttering a word after that. “It’s okay if you can’t tell me. I am glad you don’t feel uncomfortable around me,” I smiled.
I saw the weight of relief that washed through her after I made my statement and I could not help but get curious about what she couldn’t say.
“Thank you, Alpha Damon,” she replied as her face lit up, making the smile on my face widen.
Olivia’s birthday is less than two months away, so our agreement might end, too. I promised to let her go after a year.
It’s surprising how time flew because it feels like I dragged her out of her uncle’s compound just yesterday. How is it close to a year in the blink of an eye?
The likelihood of her meeting her mate on that day sounded ominous to me.
I know it may sound selfish, but I refuse to let her go. Regardless of whether she finds her mate or not, I insist on keeping her by my side because Olivia is mine.
“Are you done eating?” I asked, raising a brow at her as she swerved her head at me. “Yes”
I nodded my head and wiped my mouth with the tissue, standing up afterward.
“Have you gone out of the tower since you got here?” I inquired.
I don’t have a recollection of her taking permission from me to go out of the tower, even though I told her to do whatever and go wherever she wanted as long as she informed me about it.
“I have, with Claire,” she muttered the last part inaudibly. I would not have heard her if I hadn’t strained my ears.
She went out with Claire five months ago, the day she was almost beaten to death. How did that skip my mind?
I cleared my throat to distract myself from thinking about that day and also to get Olivia’s attention.
“Let’s take a walk together,” I pause as her innocent eyes shine colorfully at me. “Outside the tower” I summed up
