They were taken aback by my presence in Alessandre”s company. Because of their acts, I cannothelp but wonder.
I have been here many times in Alessandre”s company since we married, but this is the first time they have looked at me like this, as if they didn”t expect me to show here.
I got off the elevator when I got to the floor where Atlas”s office located. Outside Atlas”s office, I could not find a secretary. I was even shocked because Alessandre”s secretary was rarely absent from his station. Because Alessandre had to order him frequently, he was always at his table.
I approached Alessandre”s office door.
When I heard Atlas”s voice, I was going to open the door.
When I heard how quiet his voice was as he talked, I smiled. I am immediately interested in who he is conversing with. Even though we have already gotten along, I have never heard him speak to me like that. The gentleness of his voice makes him sound like he is speaking to a baby.
“Ale, you are annoying me. Didn”t you hear what the doctor said earlier? You have to take good care of me because our baby”s grip is not strong,” she stated stiffly.
That voice, that voice, is one I recognize.
That is why I have been crying so much in recent days. Cassy, it is because of her.
Because of what I heard, my heart hammered.
Is the tenderness of Alessandre”s voice due to the fact that he is speaking to Cassy? Because my knees were weakening, I had to cling to the wall to avoid falling. Fear soon enveloped my entire existence as my body trembled.
Alessandre and Cassy have inflicted so much misery on me that I can almost taste it. I became a coward all of a sudden. All I wanted to do now was escape away from this spot because I suddenly did not want to see Atlas with Cassy.
I want to get as far away from this area as possible.
“That is what I told you earlier, Cassy; I urged you to just stay at your condo and rest, but you did not listen,” Alessandre replied.
His voice was still gentle and tender, as it had been previously.
My intellect tells me to flee, to simply escape, but my body refuses to comply. It walked towards the entrance as if it had a life of its own.
I would like to see it for myself. I would like to be certain. I still have not given up hope that my hearing is just playing tricks on me.
I was still hoping I misheard anything or that Cassy was not actually with Atlas and was not inside.
Despite everything I had heard, I opted to believe Atlas. He would not injure me, I knew.
I could look into Atlas”s office without him recognizing me and without going in because the door was slightly ajar.
To keep my hand from shivering, I gripped it tightly.
The back figure of Atlas was the first thing I saw. Oh, how I long for him. I have missed him so much in the nearly two weeks we have not seen each other.
When I watched how the woman in front of him wrapped her hand around his neck, my world came crashing down.
I was even more devastated when I saw Atlas holding the woman with such care.
I cried quietly. With my two eyes, I could see the woman”s large belly, which indicated that she was pregnant. I am guessing the woman”s tummy is about five or six months old. My deflated stomach was not caressed by any of my own.
“Tsk, can you blame me? Your son and I want to see you all the time,” the woman remarked to Atlas, smiling.
Standing there, witnessing how much they loved each other, I seemed stumped.
Without a doubt, Anna. What kind of person do you think you are, anyway? Alessandre”s family has accepted you as an orphan. What are you dealing with when it comes to your husband”s first love?
You may have legal ownership of him, but his heart, his heart will never be yours.
I hurriedly walked away when I noticed they were ready to kiss. I”ve already been crushed into a million pieces. I am clinging to life by a thread. When I saw them kissing, I couldn”t take it any longer.
They have sufficiently broken me.
I was about to enter the elevator when I heard Atlas”s secretary”s voice approaching. I panicked.
I do not want them to know I came here and witnessed Alessandre”s actions. When they find out, I am sure they will laugh at me.
I could not think any longer and flew back.
I went inside the rest room. I let out a gasp as I leaned against the stall, closing the pin.
I took a seat on the shut toilet bowl.
What are your plans now, Anna?
I wiped the tears of assistance from my eyes. I had not realized I would started crying again.
Anna, when are you going to stop crying? You do not do anything but cry.
I was aware of myself. My chest was touched. I have no sensations. All of my senses seem to have gone numb as a result of the pain I have been through. My eyes had stopped blinking.
I took a big breath and exhaled slowly. When there was a loud rattle on the door of the cubicle where I was, I was wondering how I might sneak out of Alessandre”s company without anyone noticing me.
To even somewhat lessen the traces of my tears, I straightened myself first, smoothed my untidy hair, and cleaned my face with wet wipes.
“What do you-” As I opened the cubicle door, a loud slap on the face hit me.
My face twisted in response to the slap”s extreme force. The burning ache in my cheeks is palpable. I gently returned my gaze to the person who had slapped me at the time.
Cassy”s enraged stare at me attracted my attention. I would have been a frozen corpse earlier if her glare had been just as lethal. She slapped me once more.
It is strange how I can feel a stinging ache in both cheeks but cannot feel anything else; my heart has gone numb.
“How dare you enter this company,” she hissed, her teeth clenched. She was enraged and blushed.
I fixed my lifeless gaze on her. My mouth did not produce any pain.
She smiled evilly and added, “Huh! Your happy days are over, bitch.” She drew nearer to me.
“Do you see this?” she asked, pointing to her protruding stomach.
“We are going to have a baby, yes, me and Alessandre, your so called husband.” She said sarcastically as she seemed to be teasing me as she was rubbing her bulge stomach.
If only she knew I had it as well.
“He is going to leave you, Anna,” she said, laughing evilly. “Do you think Alessandre will still be with you when I return? Do you really think he will still be patient with you when I return and he will be the father of our child?” With my lifeless eyes, I continued to stare at her.
“I will give it to you, bitch, what a brave person you are. He did not return home to you for two weeks, and you still went here in his company. Are you that desperate? Do you have no sympathy left for yourself?” she mocked.
“Do you have any shame or self-respect left in you, Cassy? How nasty are you to wreck a marriage, huh? Are you in such a predicament? Why? Is the wealth granted to you by your deceased old husband not enough? So you decided to make Alessandre be your ATM machine again?” I yelled at her.
When she heard what I said, her eyes widened. She probably did not think I would find out about it.
I hit her across the left cheek with a strong slap. She could not move because she was so taken aback by what I did.
“You have no right to trash my character because, first and foremost, you have made no contribution to my life, and second, you are even more repulsive with the stinky sewage, Cassy,” I slapped her hard again.
“Annalise!” exclaims a familiar baritone voice loudly.
I used to be happy to hear his voice straight away, but now all I feel is anger.
The woman burst into tears when she heard Alessandre”s voice. As he called Alessandre, she rubbed her bloated stomach.
The lady screams, “My kid, Ale, our baby, she dares to hurt our baby!”
Alessandre approached us swiftly.
He shoved me because I did not move off his way. Because of the push he gave me, my knees were weakening and I fell down and hit the wall.
When I first felt the agony in my stomach, I was completely overwhelmed. As I felt the line of anguish in my tummy, I sighed. My baby was the first thing that came to mind.
“Alessandre…” I muttered, my voice faint and shaky.
When he did not even glance at me, it destroyed my heart. He was completely focused on Cassy.
The woman was crying and holding her large stomach. The woman seemed to be implying that Alessandre would never select me over her as she looked at me sarcastically.
“Oh my gosh, our baby! What will happen to our kid, Alessandre?” shrieked the woman.
Alessandre is enraged as he looks at me, and he is clenching his teeth.
“I will never forgive you if something awful happens to my son,” he shouted angrily to me.
My eyes welled up with tears. I was in pain, not for myself, but for my unborn kid.
What about our child, Alessandre? What about our little one? Would you have the same reaction if I told you I was pregnant and carrying our child in my womb?
Will you accept him or her in the same manner as you accept your child? Will you be concerned about my child as well? Alessandre, how about us?
As he immediately hoisted the woman, he locked his gaze on me.
I called him just as he was about to depart. Just this once, I will give it my all. Please, Alessandre, choose me, please choose us this time.
“Please, Alessandre, don”t leave; please choose us this time,” I begged.
My tears were pouring out of my eyes uncontrollably. Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please
He locked his gaze on me for a few moments.
I attempted to figure out what he was thinking, but I could not figure it out. He was deafeningly quiet as he stared at me.
“Ouch! My tummy hurts, Ale!” Cassy yelled again, catching his attention.
He walked away without looking back, leaving me in tears. My world is crumbling in front of my eyes.
My last glimmer of optimism that Alessandre would select us had evaporated. When I felt the pain in my stomach return, I writhed.
As I reached for my telephone, my hands were trembling. I call his telephone number. He is the only person I know who will not abandon or abandon me. Right now, he is the only one I can rely on.
“Hello?” said the gruff voice on the other end of the telephone. When I heard her voice, I sobbed even harder.
“A-A, please assist me,” I am unable to speak. In the background, I heard a huge crash.
I could hear the fear in his voice as he said, “I am going there, Anna. Where are you?” As if he were sprinting, his respiration was deep.
“Please hurry, A. My baby, I do not want to lose my baby. Please save us,” I sob.
The door slammed open with a thud. Aiden entered the room from there. He took care of me right away.
He carefully lifted me up and almost rushed all the way to the elevator. He was unconcerned about my weight. I can see the sweat droplets on his brow.
His hands were also trembling.
I attempted to put my arms around his neck, but I was too weak. I listened to his heartbeat as I rested against his chest.
He hurriedly exited the building as we reached the ground floor. The guard is even waiting for us because A had just parked his car in front of the building”s entrance but the security had ignored him.
He carefully seated me in the passenger seat and secured the seatbelt around my waist. He then dashed over to the driver”s seat.
I closed my eyes tightly and prayed to the Lord for the health of my unborn child. I am already broken, and I am sure I will lose my mind if I lose my child.
At the moment, he or she is the only person who can help me. I get my strength to live from him or her. My baby is the reason I did not give up even though I was in excruciating pain.
That is why I cannot bear the thought of losing my child. That would put me to death.
The white ceiling greeted me when I opened my eyes. When I realized I was not in my room, my brows wrinkled.
When I tried to move my hand, I winced since it hurt a little. When I looked down at my hand, I noticed that I was holding a dextrose shovel.
The door burst open, and A walked in, bringing food with him.
“How are you doing? Are you in pain? Should I contact the doctor?” he inquires, his eyes filled with worry. I gave him a feeble shake of my head.
“Ah, what about my baby? Is my youngster all right?” I inquired, tears welling up in my eyes.
He approached me after placing the meal he had brought on the table. He touched my hair, appearing to soothe me.
“Your baby is fine, Anna; all you have to do is rest and avoid stress,” he said. “The doctor says your baby is strong; the baby is fighting for his or her life, babe; you should fight for your child as well.”
Because of what he stated, I exhaled a sigh of relaxation.
He fed me the meal he had brought with him. Lyka will also come here later, he remarked, because the woman still has a class today.
I fell asleep again after eating.
“How dare she touch my best friend! How could she smack her and threaten the life of my God child!” I awoke again due to the loud noise in my bed.
I slowly drew my eyes open. I am now stronger than I was previously. I am not as feeble as I used to be.
Lyka was enraged, and A was calming her down.
The man appeared to be in distress, and Lyka refused to let him go.
The man hissed at Lyka, “Will you please tone down your voice, Lyka?”
When Aiden scolded Lyka, she became even angrier. Because of this woman, my head hurts. Even though it was her who was making the noise. There is no such thing as a bad place for her to talk.
When I addressed the two of them, “Tss, will you two kindly shut up?” my brows furrowed.
They almost turned to face me at the same time. As they glanced at me, their eyes expanded.
Lyka was the first to regain consciousness and rush over to me. Aiden abruptly pushed her away from me as she was going to hug me.
The bad woman begged him to let her go, but A refused.
“Do not push Anna into your arms, Lyka. Her body is still weak. Will you just sit down? My head hurts because of you,” Aiden grumbled.
Lyka was taken aback; it appeared like it was only now that she realized my body was still weak and that hugging me was a poor idea, as she may injure me even more.
My entire body, as well as my heart, is in excruciating pain right now. With a shake of my head, I expressed my dissatisfaction with the situation.
I do not want to recall what occurred.
“What are your plans now, Anna?” Lyka inquires softly. As she gazed at me, she held my hand.
Aiden, on the other hand, is merely standing to the side, listening intently.
She inquired, “Are you still going to Alessandre”s house?”
I gave her a slow nod in response to her question. Aiden”s bottles mineral water shattered loudly, and I heard it. While staring at the wall, his teeth chattered. I snatched his clinched fists and gently squeezed them.
“I have to go back there; my stuff are there; do not worry, I am leaving Alessandre,” I murmured, my voice trembling. They sighed, and I heard it.
“I want to get out of here,” I murmured.
