“You need me Rakur, and I am here to offer my service.”
“You’re right that the only reason I haven’t killed you yet is because you might still serve some purpose for me. So, what is this discovery of yours you made?”
“Damian intends to use the neutral lands that connects your territories to his and Walden’s. He’s planning an ambush for your men there.”
“Did he say anything else apart from this?”
“No sire. He later asked me to excuse him and Walden, stating that they still had some other issues to discuss.”
“They asked you to excuse them and you did without even bothering to stay behind to eavesdrop on whatever they were going to talk about in your absence?”
“It’s not that easy to eavesdrop on a conversation in court sire, because so many wolf guards surround the halls.”
“You’re such a fool, Samara. Why then did you come here…?”
Suddenly they begin to hear his noises coming from outside, loud noises, like the kind that made the ground beneath them shake violently. Samara’s heart skipped a beat as she wondered what was going on.
One of Rakur’s guards then entered the rogue court and informed his master what was currently happening on the terrain.
“We are under attack sire, and this is not a small one. Soldiers from over all the packs are attacking us, throwing bombs from every direction. Our men are dying sire!” He panicked.
“You fool. You led them straight to our hideout, Samara.”
“I didn’t… I swear… I only came here to tell you what was…”
“Shut up!” He growled before turning back to his guard. “What do you think will be the outcome?”
He shook his head, “I’m not sure that they’ll be any outcome for us Sire. Our Army is dying. Our men are outnumbered greatly. We could still manage to survive an attack against one, two or even three packs but not when all twelve of them gather to fight against us. If there’ll be any chance of escape, it will have to be very few of us. We can make our way to one of the neighboring packs very quietly and hide there until we are safe. We can’t draw attention by taking too many along with us.”
“Gather as many men as we can take!” Rakur ordered. “I’ll be taking Samara as my scapegoat and prisoner, and I’ll kill her immediately after we make our way out.”
With that, Samara was dragged and arrested by Rakur’s soldiers as they made their way out of the Rogue Court in order to escape.
The site outside was bloody as the rogue armies were not just faced with bombs hitting them in every direction but also men of different uniforms attacking them, out numbering them. Rakur didn’t know how to express himself… It was heart shattering to see his men go that way but he had to think of his own life too and the life of the few he would manage to save after all of this.
“It won’t take long before they reach us. We have to get out of here now.” They’d left the packhouse through the back entrance, but that side was also facing attack on its end.
“Which parts do you intend we first take our escape?”
“The armies are coming from the neutral grounds and apart from that area closest place to us is the red moon terrain. There’s a small tunnel that connects our land to theirs.”
“Are you sure won’t have another surprise that waiting us there? I think that these people have planned us very well.”
“It’s the only option as all of the other routes have been saturated by soldiers. This is the only part that is clear of bombs and men. I’ve checked it this morning.”
“Okay then, let’s take that route.” He threw a spiteful glance at Samara who was led behind in chains by two of Rakur’s men. “Make sure that the prisoner does not escape. We will be able to kill her immediately our safety is guaranteed.”
This was not Rakur’s lucky day at all. As he made his way to escape to the lands that his soldiers had suggested for him, right at the end of the long tunnel after the journey, he was met with the surprise as Damian, along with a group of soldiers and the other pack leaders we’re waiting for them at that tunnel. They must have predicted that if there were any possible paths of escape for Rakur, this is the path he would take.
“Arrest him!” Damian ordered his men and Rakur, along with his accomplice, Samara was taken away with what was left of his soldiers.
**********
For the past 24 hours, Damian had not slept. He’d been going around, trying to get the approval to use the army of the other 12 packs. It was far from easy and up till now, Damian wondered how he was able to accomplish it all, but with the help of his mates’ allies and some of his trusted soldiers, the letters were able to be delivered to their destinations on time.
Surprisingly, majority of the pack leaders agreed to the surprise attack on the rogue territories as this might be the only possible chance to get rid of them once and for all. They agreed to lend the support of their armies as Damian believed that the only strongest weapon they needed against Rakur’s powerful army was unity and he was right after all as no time was wasted in wiping them off the face of the earth.
Although, from all the other packs that had agreed to joined on the attack, only one pack remained. One pack that Damian knew that sending just a letter wouldn’t do. He needed to meet with the leader one-on-one and that was why he went to meet with Walden, they had a conversation regarding this that Samara to excuse them for.
The plan of the ambush on neutral grounds of course was just a decoy to get Samara to lead them to the Rogue territories and she fell for it, running straight to Rakur as soon as she’d heard the information. Lucky for them, Damian’s predictions turned out to be true.
As Samara and her accomplices were being taken away to their prison cells, Damian remembered the words he told Walden, the words that made the night shadow alpha agree to their plan.
“Walden, I understand that you are heartbroken. I understand that you might not want to do anything for Miranda anymore. I understand that you do not want to harm Samara either but above anything else, wouldn’t you want to see that the rogues perish? Wouldn’t you want to see that your people do not have to live in fear for the rest of their lives as a result of you doing the right thing? I know that you are reluctant to do this, but please we need your army, Walden. I hope that you will accept to help us as we join hands to defeat the enemy once and for all.”
