“Sorry to bother you today,” Ranita said politely before asking, “Do you have anything else to do?”
Brendon felt her mood was off.
“Ranita, are you upset?” Brendon’s tone was low, as he didn’t really know how to open up to Ranita; every time he tried, she seemed to avoid him.
It felt like they were playing a game of cat and mouse, exhausting and fruitless, unable to see each other clearly.
“I’m not upset.” Ranita paused, steadying her emotions before asking, “Have you visited Miss Murphy? How is she doing?”
Brendon’s breath on the other end seemed slightly heavier, as if he was adjusting his tie. His voice sounded tired, “I just returned from the hospital to Boulderland Mansion.”
“Well, her condition isn’t good. The doctor said she’s emotionally unstable, with depression, exacerbated by stress and low blood sugar, leading to dizziness. She needs some time to recuperate.”
Ranita nodded, recalling the scene she saw outside the ward, her heart beginning to ache.
She said, “Brendon…”
-Can you stop interfering with Shannon?
The words stuck in her throat. She felt anxious, afraid she wouldn’t get the answer she wanted.
Ranita surrendered.
“It’s nothing. Since Miss Murphy isn’t feeling well, she should rest properly.” Ranita’s businesslike tone made Brendon uncomfortable.
His voice grew heavier, “Where are you and Ayaan? I’ll come over.”
“No need!” Ranita refused.
“Do you need anything? Shall I get something from the apartment?” Brendon asked, unusually meticulous.
Ranita’s mood turned sour and bitter again.
“No need, I’ll have someone send it over.” Ranita paused before saying, “Take care of Miss Murphy since she’s unwell.”
Brendon felt uneasy.
“Are you angry?”
“I’m not angry.” Ranita tried to sound calm, “Brendon, I have things to attend to. I’ll hang up first.”
“Wait a minute!” Brendon’s voice carried some authority, “Where are you? Tell me, or should I send Caleb to find out?”
Ranita’s breath caught in her throat.
In Kurima, she couldn’t escape Brendon’s grasp.
Ranita took a deep breath, “I’m in the HY Villa Area. Dylan’s house.”
“Brendon, I really have things to do.”
“Ranita, why are you suddenly avoiding me? What are you mad about?” Brendon’s voice was low, with a hint of anger in her ears.
Ranita gently pursed her lips and responded, “I’m not mad about anything. Our relationship wasn’t that good to begin with.”
Yeah! Before this, they were still arguing.
He was insanely jealous because of Makhi’s matter.
“I went to Boulderland Mansion suddenly out of necessity. I don’t want to cause more problems, so it’s better to leave as soon as possible.”
Ranita originally wanted to leave Ayaan at Boulderland Mansion and continue living in the apartment to lure someone out.
But Holly had a bad temper, Amiya was fighting with Ewan, and she couldn’t trust leaving Ayaan there alone.
Ranita asked Dylan to take care of him and drove back to the apartment herself. As soon as she got downstairs, she received a message from Mr. Goodman, reminding her to be safe.
Ranita got off the car slowly and greeted the security guard. Occasionally, she could feel someone watching her, unsure if they were friendly or the same creep as before. So she walked nervously.
“Ranita, why are you back?” Just then, Makhi’s surprised voice came from behind.
“Mr. Terry?” Ranita smiled and greeted him, but the next moment, something unexpected happened…
