“You can take her away from me, and I will not stop you” Lucas replied immediately.
“What about your ex-wife, and the baby in her belly?” Mrs. Mittal countered another question.
Lucas again replied confidently, “Just give me few days and I will deal with her”
“You will not keep my daughter as your mistress, right? you will go back to your ex-wife right?“ This time her tone was full of worries.
Lucas smiled at her and said, “Mom, I lost Carol once, I will never take that chance again and Carol will be always queen of my life”
“Who permitted you to call me Mom?” Mrs. Mittal said in an annoyed tone.
Lucas replied, “You are mother of my wife so you are my Mom”
Mrs. Mittal said in a stern tone, “Lucas, remember one thing if you dare to hurt my daughter again I will leave this country with her forever, you will never be able to see her and your child”
“And this is not mere threat, I can do it”
Lucas looked in her eyes confidently and said, “I will never give you that chance of taking my Carol away from me”
Mrs. Mittal doesn’t know what to say next, she just said, “Better you do that” and turned to her daughter who was sitting on the sofa unaware of the fight between her child’s father and her mother.
Mrs. Mittal sat next to Carol and caressed her hair and said, “How are you my sweetie?”
Carol didn’t respond to her question but after some moments she again kept her hand on her belly and mumbled, “Baby”
Everyone was surprised at her word, except Lucas. He walked to her and sat next to her, and held her hand and said with a small smile on his face, “I think she can feel our baby”
Mrs. Mittal didn’t understand what Lucas was saying, so she asked him, “What do you mean?”She didn’t speak a single word in the last month, how could she feel anything.
Although Mrs. Mittal tried to accept Lucas as she knows now there is no other way to take away Carol from Lucas because of her pregnancy but she was still not very sure of her decision on accepting Lucas.
She had made up her mind to test Lucas’s love.
Lucas said breaking the trail of thoughts of Mrs. Mittal, “Mom, from yesterday she had spoken only two words, one is baby after I told her that she is caring a life, a baby in her belly and another word is ICE”
Mrs. Mittal frowned and said, “Carol is very fond of kids and she loved snow like crazy, it was always difficult to handle her winters”
“Me and her Dad has to take a lot care of her during winter, the moment we swept away our eyes out of her she would go out in snow and dance like crazy”
“It was not only when she was kid, she still have that habit, she loses her mind when it starts snowfall, God knows why she loves snow these much”
Lucas registered that in his mind, he would take her to all the snowy places once she is fine and back to normal.
Alex and Alice were also present there; they were so busy watching Carol and the glow of her face due to pregnancy that they almost forgot about Lucas and Mrs. Mittal’s argument.
After chatting for some time Mrs. Mittal stood and said, “Mr. & Mrs. Mittal sorry for bothering you yesterday, now I would like to take my leave”
Saying this she slowly took Carol’s hand in her hand and wanted to walk out with Carol but Carol didn’t budge from her place, in fact, she left her mother’s hand and held Lucas’s hand.
Lucas was so delighted with her act that an ear-to-ear smile crept on his face.
At first, Mrs. Mittal felt a little unhappy but the next moment it hit her that Carol must be comfortable with Lucas so only she chose to stay with him.
She felt assured that Lucas must be taking good care of her daughter, even though she is satisfied but that doesn’t mean that she is going to trust Lucas completely.
Mrs. Mittal left William’s Mansion with little satisfaction, she was satisfied that even though Lucas did wrong to Carol, but he took good care of her, she had noticed Alex & Alice’s eyes. She noticed lots of love for her daughter in their eyes.
Lucas kissed Carol’s forehead and headed to his home, by the time he reached home it was already dinner time, and the maids whom his secretary hired today had already cooked for them
Lucas fed her with his hands and took her to their bedroom, gave her a quick bath, and made her sleep.
He laid next to her till she was in deep sleep, after making sure that she was sleeping peacefully he slowly got up from the bed making sure not to disturb her, and walked out of the bedroom.
He called his secretary and gave him a list of items and asked him to bring it to his house immediately.
His secretary did what his President asked, the whole night Lucas didn’t sleep neither did he let any of the maids sleep, and he was awake the whole night preparing a surprise for his beloved woman.
He had never done this before, earlier he thought that gifting expensive gifts makes a woman happy but his Carol is different.
So the surprise for her should also be different.
At 5 am he completed his preparation and went back to his bedroom, and found Carol again hugging a pillow, he took long strides and pulled away from the pillow from her grip, and replaced himself with the pillow.
He immediately slept holding her in his arms.
The next morning, Lucas opens his eyes and found Carol looking at him, he smiled and said, “Good morning Honey”
But she didn’t respond, which didn’t affect him, he was thinking if Carol was awake why didn’t she leave the bed but then he realized that first thing she is not in that condition.
And even if she was fine she couldn’t move her body, because he was hugging her tightly, sticking her body to his body leaving no space for air also.
