Chapter 55 Apology

Book:The Surging Of Love Published:2024-5-1

“Mason, Rachel just came back. Can you let her sit down first then talk?” Robert Hill asked.
Rachel looked up at the study door. Ewan was lowering his head and murmuring to the person next to him.
Everyone was evacuated.
Looking at those who kept worrying about her, Rachel felt grateful but guilty too. How much manpower and resources had been wasted to find her?
The mass vehicles and military personnel outside the house had pulled out.
The people in the living room calmed down and sat on the sofa. They exhaled and sighed, “It’s alright. It’s good to have her back safely.”
A happy smile broke over Mason Hill’s face once he assured that Rachel was fine. He hugged Rachel and said emotionally: “Thank God you are alright …”
“Have you hugged enough yet?” Eliza Hill roared. Her tone was filled with anger and pettiness.
Eliza’s roar had gained everyone’s attention. Mason then released Rachel, not caring about others’ points of view. He touched Rachel’s cheek and whispered warmly, “Are you hungry? I’ll have someone cook you something to eat. Then you’ll have the energy to tell us what happened when you’re full.”
Mason was always the most warm-hearted one.
Rachel was starving! She nodded incessantly.
Mason let go of Rachel’s hand, pointed at Kate, and ordered, “Hurry and make Miss Rachel’s favorite food.”
“Yes.” Kate rushed to the kitchen.
Mason held Rachel’s hand and walked towards the sofa. Sienna murmured, “No wonder Rachel likes Mason so much. It turns out that Mason is really nice to Rachel. Too nice for words!”
Rachel blushed. She always felt a hint of embarrassment when facing Sienna.
Not knowing Sienna’s feelings were real.
Not knowing what her current mindset was. It was all Rachel’s wild guess.
Mason blurted out, “Luke is also nice to you too.”
Sienna nodded her head and smiled, “That’s right, my brother-in-law does treat me quite well.”
Robert and Charles were standing beside Henry, staring at Rachel.
The gaze of the three old men made Rachel panic. As she walked to the living room, she bowed slightly and apologized to them, “Grandpa, Dad, Uncle, I’m so sorry for making you worry.”
Charles was very kind and always smiling. “What are you saying sorry for? We’re all a family.”
Robert murmured, “It’s great that it’s okay. We were all worried about you. Your mother has been crying all day.”
Rachel looked back at her mother behind. She was confused.
Would her mother cry?
Would she really cry because of worrying about her daughter?
Not until she saw Sophie Berry’s swollen red eyes, which still had tears in them. At that moment, Rachel was touched.
She had always thought of herself as a forgotten, detested, and abandoned child by her parents.
It turned out that her mother would also be worried about her and would cry over her.
Luke hugged Erica and smiled, “Rachel, Erica and I haven’t slept for a whole night to look for you. We’re going up to have some sleep now. You can tell Ewan about the situation. We are unable to help you with catching the killer.”
Rachel bowed and apologized, “I’m sorry. I’ve made you guys worry.”
Luke pushed his glasses and said as he yawned, “Don’t say such words. We’re a family. We’ll go up first.”
Rachel watched as Luke and Erica leave.
Before Charles and James left with Henry, Charles said, “Rachel, I’ll bring your grandfather back to rest first. For catching the murderer, leave it to Ewan.”
“Thank you, guys. I’m really sorry for getting you guys busy.” Rachel said.
Eliza followed Mason and refused to leave. She stared at Rachel angrily.
Rachel slowly approached Sophie and whispered in a warm voice, “Mom, I’m sorry for making you worry.”
Sophie blinked back her tears as she said, “You should apologize to Ewan. Do you know, he had sent out the entire country’s military force just to find you.”
At this moment, Rachel slowly looked towards the study door again.
However, Ewan was no longer there. He had left without a single word.
She felt empty and very lost.
The person she wanted to see the most was Ewan. But when back home, he was also the calmest and most aloof.
Robert pulled Rachel to the sofa and asked curiously, “Rachael, tell Daddy, What happened?”
Rachel was entangled for a moment.
She didn’t know what to say. She couldn’t tell the truth out loud anyway.
Rachel was still struggling when Sienna interrupted, “Rachel, I heard that while you were waiting on the side of the road, you were dragged up into a black van and then disappeared. Not knowing if those people were your friends or bad guys?”
Friends?
Rachel was shocked and looked at Sienna in dismay. This question really left them speechless.
But the question did work. Sophie and Robert turned pale while glancing at Rachel, whereas Mason was stunned. Sienna sneered sarcastically, “Maybe they’re really her friends. Didn’t we see only a pair of hands that grabbed her on the monitor? And Rachel didn’t struggle. Now she’s back safe and sound. Maybe she had enough of playing outside and came home.”
Sophie was anxious and said sternly, “Rachel, tell me what’s going on!”
Rachel hadn’t wanted to explain. But being messed up by Sienna, the kidnapping would all turn into doing something immoral out there.
“I was robbed … I was kidnapped to a deserted place with all of my belongings being robbed, nothing left. Now I’m finally home.”
She was getting used to it after telling too many lies.
Rachel was impressed by her own skills in making these fibs. These white lies had made her feel tired because there was no one she could trust. So she could only cover it up with lies.
Sienna asked faintly, “The one that kidnapped you, just robbed your money? Then how about your bag …”
“It’s been ransacked inside and just the empty bag was left.” Rachel nervously pushed her bag and gulped.
Eventually, Sienna was full of doubt. She looked Rachel up and down and asked, “You’re so pretty. Didn’t the muggers have any bad thoughts on you?”
Her words instantly spurred Eliza, who then stood up and roared back at Sienna, “You’d be hoping her to be assaulted sexually, wouldn’t you? Why are you such a wicked person, hoping Rachel to be raped?”
Sienna was stunned and looked at Eliza in a blank. “Eliza, I didn’t mean that. I’m just worried about Rachel. She’s my best friend. Why would I think that way? I’m simply just concerned …” Sienna was explaining.
“She’s back safely now, isn’t she?” Eliza was being pissed off. “Why are you asking? If she was really raped, what can you do? Can anything be changed? You may lend her your money if she was robbed. But if she was raped, can you give her your virginity? You words are so redundant …”
