The car window closed up and the car drove off.
At this moment, Erin’s legs wobbled and teetered.
Jordan reacted swiftly and rushed over to hug her in his arms. Due to Erin’s weight, both of them slowly squatted.
Erin sat on the ground dazed and started to sob. Jordan knelt beside her anxiously, “Dear, dear, are you alright? Please don’t scare me…”
Erin started to wail bitterly, “It’s all because of this tramp Rachel, she caused our Leah to be imprisoned. Now she has harmed Leah again…”
Rachel’s heart was empty as she stood in place looking at the vehicle which was now a distance away. She turned to look at the furious couple and was so disheartened that she didn’t want to speak to them.
She was used to being blamed and labeled by them.
Erin lifted her hand and pointed at Rachel. She clenched her teeth and forcefully accused, “Both you and your mom are bitches! In the White family, you are causing so much harm to our Leah. In the Hill family, Ewan just wants to get rid of you, the daughter of a mistress. This time Leah had been implicated by you again… oh dear…”
Erin leaned into her husband’s embrace and cried bitterly.
Rachel wanted to say to her: Thou shall not sin.
But she saw that Erin was crying so bitterly, she decided not to say anything else. She couldn’t even settle her own problems, why should she be bothered with others?
But she shouldn’t have blamed the innocent people.
Rachel walked past them without a word and took out a black mask from her backpack and put it on over her mouth.
She applied for a month’s leave when her mother’s happened. Half a month had already gone by and she dared not slacken in her efforts. She also must not fully trust and rely on Ewan.
…
Hill Studio.
The large stone lion at the entrance became the waiting point for Rachel.
She wore the black mask and quietly leaned on the body of the lion.
She searched for a day and realized that both the servants seemed to have evaporated and disappeared without a trace.
Now she redirected her focus towards Andrew.
She was not restricted by Ewan’s order. After all, she wasn’t a soldier and she wasn’t his subordinate and she wasn’t even his biological sister.
It was abuzz with activities outside the Hill Studio. There were reporters, fans, and other pedestrians.
“Wow! David Webb has come out…” A fan screamed and a crowd quickly formed.
Rachel looked curiously and a fashionably dressed young man emerged while being surrounded by several bodyguards in business suits.
At 25 years old, Rachel had no interest in a twenty-year-old man.
She saw Andrew following behind the bodyguards as he was being nudged out by the fans.
She immediately walked over.
The young man entered a limousine and Andrew did the same soon after.
It was common for a famous celebrities to go out with the director of the movie production company.
All the fans flagged down taxis to follow the limousine. Most of them shared taxis for expediency and cost sharing.
Rachel managed to flag down a taxi and as soon as she sat on the front passenger seat, two young ladies entered and sat in the rear seats.
“Driver, quickly drive and chase after our beloved David Webb.” The girls said excitedly as they smacked the back of the driver’s seat.
Rachel turned around and looked at the girls. She pulled down her mask and said angrily, “I’m sorry, please get out.”
The girls pouted, “Girl, let’s share a taxi to save some money. We are all fans of our David Webb, we’re like a big family. Don’t be so petty. We’ll lose sight of him if we don’t start following…”
Girl?
Rachel frowned, did she look young enough to be called a girl? But looking at how determined the girls were, Rachel was worried that things may get out of hand if she insisted.
Helplessly, she instructed the driver to follow the limousine.
The limousine drove for about half an hour when it suddenly stopped at DK Building.
The limousine’s door opened and Andrew got down.
Rachel immediately released her seat belt and got ready to alight from the taxi. The girls behind vigorously smacked the driver’s shoulder and seat, “Drive quickly, drive… follow the limousine, our beloved David Webb is getting away.”
“I want to get down.”
But Rachel’s voice was drowned by the yelling of the girls.
The driver excitedly stepped on the accelerator.
At that moment, Rachel was speechless and leaned back into the seat and held her head in despair.
…
As night fell and the lights started to turn on, the city became a bright and prosperous scene.
At the Hill Residence, inside the south garden.
Ewan came home after a day’s work.
As he entered the living hall.
“Ewan.” A hearty voice rang out from upstairs.
Ewan raised his head and saw his eldest brother, Luke, and his wife Erica descending the stairs.
Ewan smiled calmly as Luke rushed down and the brothers hugged firmly.
“Brother.”
“It’s been a long time, you’re getting more toned.” Luke was the elegant type. He was tall and refined. He looked like a professor with a pair of silver-framed glasses.
After the hug, Ewan looked at Erica and greeted her politely, “Hi, Erica.”
“Ewan, you shouldn’t leave since you are home now. You can serve the country whether you are in the military or at home.” Erica said this in consideration of his sister’s future.
Ewan remained expressionless and didn’t reply to her.
“Come, let’s eat,” Luke said.
“I’ve eaten already. Please go ahead with your dinner.”
Luke nodded and led his wife towards the dining room.
Ewan turned and walked towards the staircase.
Robert was already waiting in the dining room.
The couple greeted simultaneously, “Father.”
Robert said listlessly, “Let’s eat.”
Luke said, “Dad, didn’t you say that Rachel has come home to stay? Where is she? I didn’t see her when I came home from my business trip.”
Robert said, “She’s not back since she left this morning. It’s a good thing that I anticipated this and I got someone to follow her.”
Luke said, “Ask her when she will be home, I have a gift for her.”
“Okay.” Robert took out his cell phone and called the bodyguard.
The phone rang and a melodious tone sounded.
“Hey, where is she? Is she safe?” Robert questioned.
The servants served the dishes.
Suddenly, a chair was pulled out and the three persons at the table were startled and looked up.
Ewan sat down awkwardly, “I feel like drinking some soup.”
Erica frowned slightly.
Luke smiled happily and instructed the servant, “Quick, serve Ewan a bowl of soup.”
Robert’s expression was sullen after the phone call.
Luke was eating as he asked, “Where did sister go?”
Robert said in disbelief, “She went to chase after a celebrity named David Webb. ”
“Cough… cough…” The sounds of choking attracted the attention of everyone.
Ewan covered his mouth and coughed to the side.
Robert frowned, “Drink slowly, don’t be so anxious.”
“I’m fine.” Ewan took the napkin and wiped his mouth as his expression darkened.
Luke teased mischievously, “Ewan, are you shocked or surprised?”
Ewan drooped his gaze and maintained a cold expression with a fake smile but he didn’t make a sound.
Luke nudged his wife and softly asked, “Your company is in charge of this aspect. Do you know who he is?”
