“It’s useless to have a ladder!”
The guard laughed. He shook his head and looked at Dawn. “This billboard is controlled by an electronic lock that controls whether it contracts or expands. It’s very heavy. Besides, what ladder do you have to climb to the height of a telephone pole that tall?”
Dawn frowned and was anxious. “How do you know that it has something like an electronic lock?”
“I am on duty from noon and will be on duty until dawn tomorrow. At about two o’clock in the afternoon, two small pickup trucks were dragging this thing, and a small boom crane hoisted it up. I was curious and asked. Then I realized that the device is high-tech. It is usually attached to a telegraph pole when it is locked. It looks like an ornament, but once the electronic lock is opened, remote infrared can be used to control and issue instructions. Just by pointing to it and pressing a button, it will automatically stretch out like a headliner. There are lights inside too!”
After hearing the guard, Mr. Simpson’s expression changed. “You said two small pickup trucks dragged it in?”
“Yes, and we are only in the front area of the estate. There’s an exact same thing installed in the back!” The guard replied.
Dawn, “…”
“So what about this? I just went to a convenience store outside the estate to buy something and saw billboards like this on the automobile platform across the road. This are also billboards like this on the whole street! I don’t know about other streets in the city.”
Dawn, “…”
Just as Mr. Simpson also gritted his teeth, the guard suddenly sighed. “look, look at the man and the woman on this billboard. They are both so good-looking and seem like a perfect match for each other. How expensive that many billboards must’ve been. They are all high-tech as well. Who said that rich people don’t have true love? I think this is true love. Otherwise, which man would be so highkey as to show his face like this? Men care a lot about face!”
Dawn, “…”
For the Simpsons and the Mengs, they were not afraid of Twinkle being serious, but were the most afraid of Patrick being serious.
Twinkle being moved doesn’t have an impact on anything. She wasn’t the type of girl to abandon her parents for a man.
Once Patrick catches feelings, things become hard to tell. After all, no one knew what kind of trump card Patrick had with him.
Mr. Simpson raised his hand to pat him on his shoulder and sighed. “Since it’s everywhere, let’s not worry. When someone asks, we’ll only say that there was a misunderstanding.”
“What should we do now?” Dawn was very unwilling. “Are we just going to let Patrick ruin Twinkle’s reputation like this?”
Mr. Simpson took a deep breath and looked at the billboard in the sky. In the photo, his daughter’s head was dipped, and she smiled like a peach blossom bud about to open!
He couldn’t let a daughter who was sweet like Twinkle get married to a disabled!
Not to mention Patrick was a man he couldn’t see through. He couldn’t let his daughter get dragged into a mess!
Mr. Simpson straightened his thoughts and felt that he couldn’t rush with this matter. It was better to handle it in an orderly manner. “Let’s go, come out with me. Let’s go around and take a look and write down all the street names with Twinkle’s billboards. I’ll go to the city’s office tomorrow and see if they can take care of it. If not, I’ll go somewhere else and talk to Henry as well!”
“Yes!” Dawn’s eyes lit up. “Uncle Simpson you really have your ways! Just tell Henry! I’m sure Patrick dare not disobey his father!”
It was a little after nine o’clock in the evening when Mr. Simpson drove out with Dawn.
They first wandered around the estate and found that there were indeed such billboards in the apartment area.
They went out of the estate again and went down the road one by one. Mr. Simpson was in charge of driving and Dawn was in charge of taking notes.
The two of them were busy. They went around and circled City M. The final result was bus platforms, subway entrances, 23 streets, and all high-end estates in the city, the industrial parks most frequently visited by businessmen. They were all covered with billboards announcing the engagement!
Dawn sat in the car and was depressed as he used the calculator on his phone. After a calculation, he added the two from the estate where the Simpson’s family was located, arriving at a total of 999!
“What a prodigal!” Dawn gritted his teeth and said bitterly. “Twinkle was right. He just has too much money and nowhere to spend!”
Mr. Simpson stopped on the side of the road, took the little notebook from Dawn’s hand. He took a closer look and his eyes darkened.
He was a businessman himself and naturally knew how to account for things.
Assuming that renting one billboard costs 10, 000, 999 billboards would be 9. 99 million, not to mention that many of them were the scalable high-tech ones.
First, he did not hesitate to buy an overseas product company for Twinkle. Now he spent at such a huge amount of money to show his love for Twinkle. To the abandoned son Patrick, money was not money, it was paper!
The Simpson family does have a family background, and it started very quickly in City M in the past two years. However, the Simpson family works in the industrials where all assets are not cash, but land, factory buildings, brand value, product inventory, and accounts receivable.
It takes time for these things to be converted into cash.
Patrick must also have these assets in his hands as well, but Patrick can be so powerful that he not only has these assets, but he can also take out huge amounts of cash anytime and anywhere!
What kind of era is this?
This is the age of comparing family background and money!
Mr. Simpson suddenly panicked.
How is this Patrick showing his love for Twinkle?
This is clearly Patrick sending a reminder to the Simpsons!
If they really dared to hide Twinkle and leave Patrick, who was the son-in-law, out of it, then the consequences would definitely not be something Mr. Simpson has the ability to handle!
Because the astronomical figures in Mr. Simpson’s eyes are nothing but paper in Patrick’s hands!
And if Patrick really wanted to get through with Mr. Simpson, destroying Twinkle textile company would be as simple and easy as pinching an ant to death!
“For a handicapped person to stand up like a normal person, this photo is fake at first sight, it is computer synthesized!” Dawn said angrily, staring at Patrick’s face on the billboard. The more he looked, the angrier he became. “He won’t become what he isn’t just with external appearance. Even if he has a photoshopped picture, he still can’t stand up. What a mess. He is obviously disabled. What’s the point of bringing shame to himself!”
This is probably what the saying that love rivals become furious from seeing each other meant.
If Dawn were to rate Patrick, he obviously didn’t have anything nice to say.
In the photo, the look in Patrick’s eyes as he kissed Twinkle’s forehead was soft. But recalling the vast and deep eyes of Patrick on all other occasions, Mr. Simpson had cold sweat behind him.
Patrick is such a schemer and he truly has his ways!
Returning the notebook to Dawn thoughtfully, Mr. Simpson took a deep breath. “Let’s go back first. We’ll take care of things tomorrow!”
