Chapter 458 It Is Not Worth It

Book:Uncle's Love: My Sweet Little Wife Published:2024-5-29

Quentin was frightened by James’s malicious gaze and blamed himself for saying things he shouldn’t have.
Quentin’s words made Kara have an ominous feeling.
“It can’t be Madam Hemming, right?” Kara asked.
“No, I was wrong. James, don’t overthink it.” Quentin wanted to cover up.
James stared at him coldly. He and Kara had the same guess. Looking at Quentin, James was sure that those guesses were correct.
James didn’t understand why he should seek revenge on his grandmother for his mother’s death.
James recalled what Jordon had said to him. At that time, when Jordon mentioned James’ grandmother, James thought he was looking for an excuse. But now he heard Quentin mention his grandmother again.
James had no choice but to think that way.
“Quentin, tell me. Why should I take revenge on Zoey?”
He stood up and drew near to Quentin with a frightening aura.
Quentin took a few steps backward. His foot hit the sofa. He stumbled and fell into it.
James narrowed his eyes and put his hands around Quentin’s neck.
“Say it!” James tightened his grip a bit.
Quentin couldn’t breathe and struggled to break free, but he was not as strong as James. Quentin grabbed James’ wrists, begging.
“I … I’ll tell you. Back then Madam Hemming asked Jordon to change Vivian’s medicine. Before Vivian took the antidepressant, she had taken a lot of other medications, but none of them worked.”
“Salay said that Vivian had a history of depression and that if the depression flared up again, it would haunt her the rest of her life. That was why she got a new antidepressant.”
“Why? Why did Grandmother want to harm her?” James asked with a malicious look in his eyes.
James still remembered that when his grandmother knew that Vivian stayed with him, his grandmother had advised him to kind to Vivian and not to make Vivian angry.
James still couldn’t figure out why his grandmother want to hurt his mother.
Quentin’s face turned livid. Worried that James would strangle Quentin to death, Kara quickly held James back with arms.
“James, you need him to explain it to you. You can’t kill him now,” Kara said.
James came back to his senses after hearing her words. James let go of Quentin’s neck but stepped on his chest.
“Quentin, if you lie, I’ll send you to hell!”
Quentin could breathe in the fresh air and coughed a few times. After a while, he finally caught his breath. His face was still pale.
Seeing that ferocious look on James’ face, Quentin believed that James would be ruthless enough to take his life.
Quentin said, “The reason is very simple. Vivian did not know what was good for her. She was a disgrace to the Hemming family and ruined their reputation. To protect the reputation of the Hemming family, Madam Hemming could only think of other ways since Vivian refused to leave NK City.”
“However, Madam Hemming did not expect that she would commit suicide. They couldn’t save Vivian. Madam Hemming didn’t want others to know about that, so she dealt with the incident in secret.”
James sneered and kicked Quentin away.
It wasn’t hard to understand why James hadn’t found any clues after searching for so many years for the cause of his mother’s death.
What an irony.
James had always respected Zoey, but she turned out to be the murderer!
Kara was also very shocked. Feeling his mood swing, she did not know what to say and just held his hand.
James took a deep breath and looked coldly at Quentin who was in misery. He asked Quentin, “You already knew about this. But why didn’t you save her?”
Lying on the ground, Quentin wailed in pain. When Quentin heard his question, Quentin shouted angrily.
“Vivian didn’t know what was good for her and insisted on staying with you. That was why Madam Hemming did that to her. It’s not worth it to make trouble with Madam Hemming for an unimportant woman like her. Why would I save her?”
Kara was angry and amused by Quentin. This was the funniest joke she had ever heard.
Vivian gave birth to a son for him, but he called Vivian an unimportant woman.
What was wrong with Vivian wanting to care for her son without asking for anything in return?
To protect their façade, they harmed Vivian and even got her killed. They were so evil.
James, of course, wanted to hit him. Even Kara was so angry that she wanted to kick Quentin.
“Scram!”
Quentin was simmering with anger and was even lectured by Kara. He looked gloomy.
“Damn girl, who do you think you are to curse at me? You should show me some respect,” Quentin said.
“No, men like you don’t deserve it. You are just a cruel monster born a few decades earlier than me. I spit on you!” Kara said with a sneer.
“You … you!”
Quentin felt a great humiliation. Quentin pointed at her nose and wanted to talk back.
But he was such an illiterate that he couldn’t think of any more vicious words. He could only glare at her, his eyes burning with rage.
“If you don’t leave now, I’ll kill you,” James said.
Quentin had to swallow the insult.
Quentin was so angry that he was panting and his chest rose and fell.
Looking up at James’s gloomy face, he was scared and could only leave the villa with his tail between his legs.
Walking out of the villa, Quentin was still angry and went to the Hemming’s to seek comfort from Zoey.
Zoey was delighted to see her most beloved son and asked the butler to prepare a lot of food.
Zoey was also very angry after hearing Quentin’s complaints.
“How dare that girl lecture you like that! That’s outrageous!” Zoey said.
Zoey couldn’t stand anyone upsetting her precious son. She slammed on the table with a resentful expression.
Seeing that Zoey was going to settle accounts with Kara, Emily got a little worried and pulled her back.
“Mom, calm down. James is no longer the boy who listened to you in everything back then. He only listens to that damn girl. He stopped caring about your feelings the moment he married her.”
Zoey was even angrier when she heard this.
Zoey said, “James has gone too far. He actually hit his father. Maybe it was Kara who urged him to do so.”
“Mom, for the sake of the Hemming family, we can’t let James be with that damn girl anymore!” Quentin said earnestly.
Zoey nodded. She had long disagreed with James marrying Kara, but they got married without telling Zoey beforehand.
Although Zoey was dissatisfied with that, she had no choice but to accept the reality.
But after this incident, Zoey felt that she would lose the authority in the family if she chose to stand by again.
“Quentin, don’t worry. I will let that girl leave James.”
Quentin nodded in satisfaction and looked at Zoey as if he wanted to say something.
“What’s the matter?” Zoey asked.
“Mom, James is angry with me and wants to take down my studio. Can you give me some money? Don’t worry. I will pay you back when things pick up,” Quentin said.
Zoey frowned, and her sharp gaze made Quentin uncomfortable though her eyes was full of wrinkles.
“Quentin, all these years, you have earned quite a bit of money. Why are you still short of money?”
Quentin felt a little guilty.
He said, “I have money, but the money is in Keely’s hands. I quarreled with her these days and didn’t want to talk to her. I could only borrow money from you.”
Zoey was unhappy and felt that this was inappropriate.
He and Keely were husband and wife, and he worked hard and earned the money. Why didn’t Keely take out the money at this critical moment?
But Quentin already asked for help, Zoey found it cold-blooded to refuse him, so she gave him 5 million.
When she gave him the money, she couldn’t help but remind him, “Quentin, it is common for couples to quarrel, but you have to be careful. Don’t spoil your wife. And you must pay attention to the management of your family’s finances.”
“I know. Thank you, Mom.” Quentin took the check for 5 million and felt grateful in his heart.
In this world, Zoey was still the best to him. Fortunately, he did not act on impulse back then for Vivian.
In his opinion, Vivian only had a son with him, and their son was annoying. He didn’t think it was not worth it to start a fight with Zoey for Vivian.
