Kara’s face injury was not serious and her face was not swollen after applying for the medicine. But James was worried that the cold wind would make her injury worse, so he let Kara ask for a leave.
James had not fully recovered, so he didn’t go to work but lay on the sofa reading with Kara.
Temperatures between day and night varied tremendously in autumn. It was a little cold in the morning, but the temperature rose when the sun came out.
Kara was wearing a coat and felt comfortable in the sun. She lay on James’s lap and fell asleep.
She seemed to feel a little hot and wanted to take off her coat.
She didn’t open her eyes and tried several times without taking off her coat. She was a little agitated.
“James, help me take off my coat.”
James was absorbed in a medical book. When he heard this, he smiled.
He picked Kara up and took off her coat. Then he kissed her.
“Do you want me to carry you back to your room to sleep?”
“No, I like this.”
Kara closed her eyes and acted like a spoiled child in James’ arms. She gave a mischievous smile and kissed him.
James touched Kara’s forehead. He took a pillow and put it on his lap to make her sleep more comfortably. Then he ordered Libby to bring a thin blanket over Kara.
Kara felt warm and quietly looked at James when he was doing this.
“James, if you have a child, you will be a good father.”
James was a little uneasy. He frowned and looked at Kara.
Kara immediately changed the topic when she noticed it.
“You are my Uncle James. If I were not your girlfriend, you would treat me as a child.”
James pinched Kara’s face. “Little fool, what are you talking about?”
“Nothing. I’m so sleepy. I want to sleep.”
Kara took the pillow away and hugged James’ waist. Smelling his faint mint fragrance, she was distressed.
‘I cannot bear to leave you. If I leave you, I can’t hug you like this anymore.’
James was not sure if Corey had said something he should not have said to Kara. But it seemed that she didn’t want to explain to James, so he was a little agitated.
“Mr. James, your father is here.”
Libby came to say.
James glanced at her coldly. Libby was so scared that she immediately shut up, afraid that she would interrupt Kara.
“Tell him to wait.”
“James, you didn’t serve me a cup of hot tea but asked me to wait outside. I am your father. You should respect me.”
When Libby told Quentin to wait outside, he was so angry that he broke in.
Seeing James reading in the living room, Quentin lost his temper and scolded James coldly.
James glanced at Quentin coldly. “You didn’t respect me when you broke in.”
Quentin couldn’t argue with James and was angry. He walked to the sofa and saw Kara sleeping in James’ arms.
Quentin frowned and scolded Kara, “Have you no shame? Were you born in a barn? You don’t deserve to be James’ wife.”
James impatiently closed the book. “I like to spoil her. If you dislike her, get out of here!”
Quentin stared at James with disbelief.
“I am your father. How dare you talk to me like that?”
“Let me say it again. Get out of here!” James was impatient.
“You…”
Quentin pointed at James angrily and did not recover for a long time.
Kara was disturbed and awakened by their quarrel.
“James, who are you arguing with?”
James felt a little sorry for waking Kara up. He picked her up and gently patted her back.
“Libby prepared some fruit for you.”
Kara was happy.
Just as Kara was going to eat fruit, she saw Quentin glaring at her fiercely. Then her smile vanished.
“All you do is eat and sleep. Are you a pig?” Quentin cursed.
Kara frowned but still smiled brightly.
“You are wrong. I am not a pig. I am a fairy.”
When Quentin heard this, he was angry.
Kara ignored Quentin. She happily took some red dates to eat and fed James.
James didn’t refuse. Although he couldn’t taste it, he smiled when he saw Kara’s happy face.
Quentin was very angry at being ignored.
But thinking that he had something to ask James, he could only hold back his temper.
“James, you said that you would investigate who caused my studio to close down.”
James stared at Quentin indifferently and didn’t expect Quentin to be so stupid.
“Yes, I promised you.”
“Who?” Quentin looked at James excitedly.
He knew that although James did not like him, they were family after all and James would help him.
He was also thinking about how to get James to help him teach the person who caused his studio to close down and then retake it.
“It’s me.”
James coldly said.
“Why?”
Quentin was shocked and stared at James in disbelief.
‘Why did he do that?’
Quentin couldn’t figure it out.
James sneered.
Back then, Quentin chose to hurt James’s mother for his work and took Keely away from NK City.
James hated Quentin for doing this, so he wanted to close Quentin’s studio.
“Because I detest you.”
James said bluntly.
“I am your father! I don’t blame you for hating me for so many years because of your mother.
But why are you so selfish? How can you do that?”
Quentin complained angrily and thought that James was crazy.
James smiled.
“You taught me.
You hurt my mother for Keely. I just made you lose your job. You should be grateful that I didn’t kill you!”
Quentin took a few steps back in shock. He stared at James in horror and thought that James was like a devil.
“I didn’t want to hurt your mother. It was Keely who forced me to do this. Your mother has been dead for all these years. What’s the point of fussing about this?”
When James heard this, he was furious and sneered.
Kara felt disgusted and didn’t expect Quentin to have any responsibility to blame Keely for his mistakes.
Keely did it because Quentin could not give her a sense of security.
But Kara wouldn’t pity Keely.
“You hurt my mother and didn’t even feel guilty or apologize. You don’t respect her at all. So, she came to James in his dreams to tell him to punish you.”
Quentin was in an antique business and was superstitious.
When Quentin heard this, his face turned pale, and retreated a few steps in shock.
“Don’t talk rot! I didn’t hurt her. It is Keely and that old woman who hurt her.”
“Who is that old woman?”
James asked coldly.
