After the wedding, we immediately went to the reception. The reception was in a famous high-end restaurant. Tables and chairs were placed in each corner, the beige colored-tablecloth was placed on each table.
The bouquet of daisies is placed on each table. In a corner were daisies styled in a heart form. On the ceiling placed a cloth styled in a fancy manner. Chandeliers are located high above, slightly lighting the room since the sunlight was entering through the big transparent windows, lighting up the whole reception.
In front was a stage where the newlywed couple was sitting on a chair. They were surrounded by people, giving them hugs, and congratulating them. The soft tune that was playing from the speakers was masked by the chattering, laughing, and giggling of the people around.
The aroma of food is lingering in the air. I looked at the direction of food, my stomach growled and I smiled in contentment once I saw the table filled with different dishes in the middle part of the room. It is a buffet-style so I quickly grab plates and utensils.
“Snow!”
I turned and saw mom who was wearing a grin on her face.
“What?” I asked.
She saw me heading to the dishes and stopped me, “Leave that first to the table, I’ll introduce you to my colleagues.
“But-” I protested.
“No buts.” I sighed in defeat. Having no choice I did as she told and left the plate to our assigned table. I guess food for later eh? Mom grabbed me towards the crowd of people forming in a corner, laughing and drinking wines and champagnes.
“Hi, Evelyn!” Said a blonde-haired woman about Mom’s age.
“Hi, Evelyn.”
“Hey!”
“How are you?”
The other also greeted mom when they noticed her.
“Hi, guys! I’m good, still young.” Mom joked and they all laughed. I stood awkwardly beside her.
“Who is this pretty lady?” Asked the blonde woman.
“Amanda, my friends, this is my lovely daughter, Snow. Snow, they are my colleagues.” Mom introduced me.
“Was she the little girl I saw last time? Look how beautiful she has grown into!” One of them commented. They were all smiling and staring at me, which made me self-conscious.
“Thank you,” I said politely, offering them a small smile.
“I thought you were sisters!” Joked the old man. They were all laughing and joking with each other, and I had never seen my mother that cheerful since dad died. Mom was all smiles and laughs that made me laugh too. After that, Mom excused us and she dragged me to another crowd.
“Hi, Evelyn.” They greeted me.
“Hello… This is my lovely daughter, Snow. Snow, these are my friends, Victoria Hemmings, Grace Carter, George Ryder, and Adam Hudson.”
“Nice to meet you.” Said the woman who I think is Victoria.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you all.” I smiled.
Wait… Something is odd… Adam Hudson? I think it’s familiar… Oh, that’s right! Eion’s surname is Hudson… So… Is he… his father? Or relatives?
“Mom, is that man whose surname is Hudson?” I whispered to mom.
“Yeah, why?” She asked.
“Oh.. Nothing,” I said. Maybe I was wrong. I decided to brush it off. When they started to talk about business, I knew I had to go.
“I’ll just go and eat,” I whispered to mom and she just let me. I excused myself from the crowd and walked towards our assigned table and grabbed the plate I left.
“Hmm, foods eh?” I was busy picking foods when Luke appeared out of nowhere.
I continued on grabbing some dishes I like, “I am quite hungry so yeah,”
Luke just watched me as I slowly put a lot of food on my plate until it was full now.
“Quite hungry?” he asked, smirking at me. I looked at my plate and smiled sheepishly.
“Okay okay. Not quite. I mean I am totally hungry,” I said. “And besides, it is lunchtime,” I tried to reason out. I mean, I don’t want to appear like a person who didn’t eat for one year.
Luke just shrugged it off, letting me off the hook before commenting, “How come you didn’t get fat if you’re eating all of that? Watching you pick all of that makes my stomach full.” He joked.
“Well not that I’m shaming you or anything, Snow. In fact, I would love to watch you eat. I hope you won’t misunderstand me. No offense.” He quickly explained once he noticed what he said was quite wrong.
I just chuckled and nodded at him, “None taken.”
“Shall I carry that plate for you?” He asked.
I shook my head, refusing his offer. “You don’t have to, I’m fine, I can carry it on my own, Luke.” I said and he shrugged.
Once I was satisfied, I walked towards our table with Luke following me behind. “Well, what about you? Aren’t you going to eat?” I asked him.
I saw that Nathan was eating chocolate cake at our table, while mom was still with her friends. I had already told them about Luke courting me and they somehow approved of it, although mom hadn’t personally met Luke.
“Yes, I’ll be eating with you,” he said, holding a plate that had a bit of food.
I furrowed my eyebrows, “Is that all you’re going to eat? Or are you on a diet or fasting”
“Nope, I’m not on a diet. Besides, I am not really hungry. Just watching you eat made me complete,” he said sweetly. I chuckled, finding it corny but I couldn’t help but blush again.
“Cheesy,” I scoffed, hiding my face for him not to see it reddening.
“No, it’s not.” He hummed beside me.
“It is.”
He paused, “Well, then what are your cheeks red huh?”
My eyes widened. “It’s… I-its… freckles!” I exclaimed, causing the people to stop and stare at us. We apologized and they went back to their businesses.
“Really Snow?” He said and we laughed like idiots. I could feel a tear rolling down my eyes from laughing.
