The Wedding

“Not sure if you know this
but when we first met
I got so nervous
I couldn’t speak”
The wedding is now starting and sponsors are now walking down the aisle. The song ‘Beautiful in white’ by Shane Filan was playing. The church was filled with many people, sitting in rows of seats. Photographers, friends, relatives, coworkers, colleagues, and other people attended the wedding.
The fancy designs and decorations made me gawk, admiring every little detail of it. The dim lighting and the white daisies attached to the arch in the stage were like leading us in something like a fairy tale. Everything was just… magical. The priest was already on the stage, smiling kindly.
The groom was also already in front of the best man, a big smile on his face. Aunt Maggie’s favorite flower, white daisies, is placed in each corner and rows of seats. There were also small balloons that were dipped with glitters placed beside the daisies in each row of seats. She took my opinion of color, her wedding’s theme is beige-colored, which made the robot beside me a glare and scowl at me.
Psh, shallow. If I am in the mood right now, I would have probably whacked his head off.
Me?
Here I am, standing awkwardly beside Eion, holding a bouquet of flowers in my hands. My halter nude maxi dress with matching ankle strap heels made me look mature. I could say that the dress fits me perfectly with the way it was clinging to my skin in the right places. It hugged my curves that I didn’t know I had.
The dress contrasts my soft pale skin, and my chocolate brown eyes stood out. My hair was styled in a waterfall. The makeup artist said earlier that I look natural, that’s why he didn’t put much makeup on my face. Thankfully, it was just light makeup because it will be uncomfortable if I have heavy makeup on.
When I looked in the mirror earlier, I couldn’t even believe it was me.
I look…. different.
And I love it.
I stole a glance at Eion beside me, who looked rather pleased with the wedding. The wedding organizer approached us earlier and instructed us that we should walk with locked arms with each other. That idea didn’t make Eion and I am trying my best not to irritate him ever since what happened last time during my sleepover at Hannah’s place
We hadn’t even talked that much after that. And I don’t know if that deal we made was still on.
He just doesn’t want to talk about it because lately, he was not in the mood to talk. Yes, he was always not in the mood, but this time he was completely not talking. This just proves him as a robot right? I just shook my head at my thoughts.
Well, the truth is, I am just distracting myself right now.
I keep on glancing at the stage, feeling uncomfortable and nervous. We were forming a line in the back of the church, waiting for our turn to walk and go to our respective seats. In front, the ring bearers and flower girls are forming a line, giggling. They were wearing cute suits and dresses, including Nathan and Caleb.
I smiled at how adorable they are. Behind them are Dax and Stacey, talking to each other. Next are Leroy and Hannah, which are in front of us. I look at Hannah, who was wearing the same nude-colored dress from mine and from the other three bridesmaids, but in a different style.
She turned around and gave me an assuring smile. I returned her smile with a grin; somehow, it calmed me down slightly. Behind us are Luke and his cousin that I didn’t get the chance to talk to and I forgot the name.
Anyways, I noticed Luke staring at me and when our eyes met, he gave me his cute boyish smile, making me smile in return. Actually, after his confession last time, I was completely stunned. I didn’t know what to do, so he proposed that I should just let him ‘prove’ himself to me, and all I could do was shrug at him in answer.
All I could hear at that time was my heart almost exploding from happiness, and I felt like I was dreaming.
Now, Luke is currently courting me. Just thinking about it makes my heart flutter. Gosh, why am I suddenly turning like this? Didn’t I tell myself that I’m a strong and independent woman who doesn’t need a man? The old me would have slapped the present me some sense.
“You look stunningly gorgeous, Snow,” Luke said and my face flushed.
“Thank you. You look handsome, Luke,” I said in return.
“Oh, I already know that,” he chuckled. “Kidding.” And I lightly hit him in the arm at his comment.
“Ow, even on a special occasion you’re abusive,” he said, pretending to be hurt.
“Oops, sorry,” I put my hands on my mouth in a mocking apology.
“Good thing I love you….. If not, then…” he said to himself, but I heard it.
“Then what?” I asked.
“Nothing,” he smiled innocently.
I saw the other three bridesmaids with their partners forming a line behind. I caught sight of Emma, who looked very beautiful in her beige-colored dress sitting on the rows of seats. She glanced at me and sent me a teasing smile, pointing her head in Eion’s direction. I playfully crunched my face at her in disgust; she just shrugged and continued taking photos.
“In that very moment
I found the one and
my life had found its missing piece”
It was the turn of the ring bearers. I spotted Nathan in his cute beige-colored suit. He looked at me and sent me a grin. I grin back at him.
“So as long as I live I’ll love you,
will have and hold you-you look so beautiful in white.”
This time, Dax and Stacey are walking, arm in arm. Next are Hannah and Leroy, I gave Hannah the look and she blushed. I silently pray that I won’t trip when I walk there. When it’s time for us to walk, I told Eion to lock arms, just as the wedding organizer told us, but he just glared at me, refusing to do it.
“C’mon Eion, stop it! Just for this time,” I whispered-yelled at him, panicking a bit. Yeah. We were having an argument in the middle of the wedding. Gosh, if only he would cooperate even just for this time…
“But no-” He protested but was cut off when someone from behind pushed us forward, forcing Eion’s hands to lock on mine. I didn’t have the chance to see who it was, and I’m not sure whether I should thank or get angry at that person.
Eion mumbled a curse. Faking a smile and staring straight ahead. Once we reached the other end, we parted ways. Thankfully, I didn’t trip.
“What we have is timeless
my love is endless
and with this ring,
I say to the world.”
The other two bridesmaids with their partners started to walk also.
“So as long as I live I’ll love you,
will have and hold you-you look so beautiful in white.”
Just as the song reached in the chorus, all stood up at the sight of the bride. She was wearing a big white gown, with embroideries and styled in a fancy design. I gawked, I felt like I was in a fairytale. We all clapped. All eyes diverted to the groom to see his reaction, including me. He was speechless, staring at his bride, and couldn’t wait to hold her. “Awwww’s” are echoing throughout the church.
Aunt Maggie continued walking as the song went by, she was wearing a big smile on her face. She was accompanied by her father. Her mother was in a wheelchair on the rows of seats, crying. Everyone was clapping. Mom was behind her, accompanying her and arranging Aunt Maggie’s gown. Mom was wearing a white long gown, smiling, her whole face lighting up.
Aunt Maggie reached the aisle now and everyone sat and stopped clapping. The priest says words and all I didn’t listen, busy staring at the couple that is in love.
“Do you, Maggie Carter, take Martin Sawyer, as your husband? In sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, for better or for worse?” The priest asked.
“I do.” Said Aunt Maggie.
“Do you, Martin Sawyer, take Maggie Carter, as your wife? In sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, for better or for worse?”
“I do.”
Once the vows were being said, my eyes started to water. The vows were just…. amazing and…. sincere. I glanced at Luke. He smiled at me, making me blush. I smiled back and looked back at the scene. Aunt Maggie and her husband are now signing a contract. After that, it was veiling.
The priest said plenty of words that I didn’t comprehend, busy staring at the happy couple.
After that, the most awaited part had come. I focused my attention on the stage and listened attentively. “I now pronounce you, husband and wife.” The priest declared. “You may now kiss the bride.” Upon hearing this, Uncle Martin eagerly kissed her bride.
