MOON STONE FORTRESS
AT THE PACK HOUSE: ALPHA CARL CHAMBERS
Julius returned with the Werewolf Custodian Book but he looked a bit unsettled. Carl looked towards him wondering what got him in the sour mood yet again.
“You got the book, why are you still staring like that?” Carl inquired.
Looking around the room, Julius noticed it was just the two of them this time. “Where is the Luna?”
Carl grunted as he attempted to sit himself well. “She went downstairs to get something. Tell me what’s on your mind?”
“Do you think it’s right to call a pack council meeting now?”
“Why not?”
“That would be us exposing Jaylen and there is no way the news won’t get to the others if they are like me who talks about everything with my family.” Julius sighed like he just revealed a top secret of his. “It would be too soon for others to know. And since fate had kept it hidden till now then we should let it remain so.”
Tilting his head sideways, as the thoughts roamed his mind. Carl understood what Julius was trying to say. It is true that calling a pack council meeting won’t just put Jaylen out in the open but he would be susceptible to danger and another enmity between himself and Jayden.
“That’s okay. I agree with you, Julius. Please sit.” Carl offered.
“What do we need to check here?” Julius asked.
Carl pointed at the book. “There should be a way to discover the truth of Jaylen’s wolf becoming a natural born Alpha while Jayden’s wolf isn’t. They are twins and it’s surprising that they are so different despite being identical.”
Julius cleared his throat. “Just a minute please.” He said as he flipped the large book open.
The room fell silent, as the only noise being heard was the rustling of the book opening. Meagan walked in at the moment and behind her was a maid carrying a tray of tea and cookies.
Raising his head, Julius sniffed the air and a bright smile appeared on his face. “That smells delicious.” He muttered.
The maid left after getting Meagan’s signal to exit the room. Meagan sat down while letting out a giggle. “Of course it does. You should have some.” She said, standing up to serve him a cup and plate.
“Thank you Luna.” Julius said as he chewed slowly on a cookie.
Carl didn’t seem interested in whatever they were discussing or eating. “Julius, haven’t you seen anything yet?”
“Just a minute Alpha.” Julius replied.
“What are you looking for in the book?” Meagan questioned. “And why does it look so old and big?”
Carl let out a light chuckle. “It’s more like an historical book or should I say a guideline of the werewolves clan.”
“Hmmm, sounds nice. Why is the Beta searching through it?” Meagan continued.
“There is a need to figure out why Jaylen’s wolf turned out that way.” Her husband responded.
Slapping his hand on the book, Julius grinned as he looked up at the four pair of eyes watching him keenly. “I got it.”
“Let’s hear it.” Carl said.
Julius swallowed hard after taking a sip of his tea. “It’s said that a natural born Alpha is a werewolf that comes from a long line of full Alpha lineage or full blooded wolves.”
“And what does that mean?” Meagan looked like the most confused of all, the only thing she had refused to pay mind to was the full history of her husband’s lineage.
“I will explain.” Julius sat up straight as he closed the book. “Carl here is a full blooded wolf, because his parents were wolves and also birthed by the same breed. But in Carl’s case he got married to you a human, which resulted in him breaking the bond of his children being full blooded wolves.”
Meagan hummed in understanding. “So, genetically our children have both of our bloods mixed and are more of hybrids.”
“Yes baby.” Carl answered.
“So, what happened to Jaylen? Why is his wolf different from Jayden’s wolf?” Meagan asked.
“He has more of the werewolf gene in him and as for the white patch it shows how unique and gifted he is by the Moon Goddess. That is purely the Moon Goddess blessing upon him.” Julius explained.
“In essence, their wolves are different even though they are twins and also of mixed breeds.” Carl affirmed.
Julius nodded. “Yes Alpha.”
Exhaling I exhaustion, Carl rubbed at his forehead. Jayden would never forgive them for such deformity, he would blame his parents for being inconsiderate of their future and decided to still fall in love. No one would have thought this sort of thing to ever happen, it wasn’t their fault that Meagan birthed twins, not just that but two boys at the same time.
What amazed him the most was the turn out of Jaylen’s wolf. Jayden had been a big brown burly and intimidating wolf. The height and stand was enough to let anyone know, he is a wolf of authority. Jayden’s wolf appearance had made Carl doubt the prophecy severally, since it was too obvious that Jayden was best fit for the position.
Jaylen’s wolf was nothing to write home about, not only was his wolf almost latent but he could hardly fight back whenever himself and Jayden gets into a fight. The scars on him are so numerous. And Carl wondered if those wounds melted on his wolf had healed over time.
Julius let out a long sigh, it wasn’t just Carl that had been lost in thought. Meagan sat up and cleared her throat to get their attention.
“I want to believe that all this shouldn’t put you both in bad mood. You know how observant these kids are.”
Carl grumbled. “Yeah baby, I am just surprised at the turn out of everything. Being an Alpha wolf, one’s presence shouldn’t be just intimidating but commanding at the same time. But Jaylen although commanding still appears really humble. How is he able to do that?”
“Don’t forget they possess the attitudes of you both as their parents. Jaylen naturally inherited his mother’s gentle nature.” Julius responded.
“That’s understandable though and I can’t dispute that. He has always been more considerate and understanding.” Carl said.
Meagan sighed. “I really hope the Moon Goddess will sort this entanglement herself. There is no way I would let anyone make my sons sworn enemies all through their lives or someone would really have me to contend with.”
Carl and Julius exchanged a look that made the both of them burst into a fit of laughter. Meagan glared at them as she didn’t find it anything funny.
Motioning for her to come close to him, Carl kissed her forehead when she leaned into him. “Listen there is nothing we can do baby. This is the Moon Goddess playing the card game of fate herself and we are just her pawns. We can only do our best, the rest is up to her to decide.”
Meagan nodded against his chest as she leaning in further. She sighed. She was too exhausted to give a reply.
Julius stood up as he held on to the book. “I would return this to the library, Alpha. We would see some other time.”
“Thanks so much for coming, Julius. Thank you.” Carl said.
“Thanks for your help Beta.” Meagan added.
Julius bowed his head. “Anytime Alpha. Do have a nice day Luna. And thanks for having me.”
Carl and Meagan watched as Julius stepped out of the room. The both of them sucked in their breath as they hoped silently that things don’t go out of hand.
