EPISODE SIXTY SIX
THEME: Egocentric wolf
MOON STONE FORTRESS
Sebastian watched in distaste as Jayden sent everyone in the board room running around and look distorted. He just got to understand what his father had meant by what he said. There would definitely be some sort of brawl between Julius and Jayden knowing how immune his father is towards indiscipline and disrespect.
To think one of the board members was only trying to make Jayden see some things considered to be essential to the growth of the company but he wasn’t acknowledging it. Sebastian wondered what Jayden would do then during a pack council meeting.
The meeting had been brought to an abrupt end since the head had decided to lose his mind. Following after him with disinterest, Sebastian watched as Jayden fumed and paced the room. He also searched endlessly for whatever it was in his drawer.
“How dare them disrespect me like that?” Jayden growled, his pupils shifting with that of his wolf. “How dare them!” He slammed his foot against the table.
Sebastian sat patiently, staring blankly at him. There was no way talking sense into Jayden would help him. Jayden needed to realize that he isn’t above anyone and can learn a whole lot from others if he isn’t so egoistic.
“Won’t you say something, Sebastian?” Jayden glared at him.
Sebastian matched his look glaring back. “What do you expect me to say ? It’s obvious you have been in a sour mood all morning. Rather than sit back to calm yourself you decide to unleash your anger on everyone.”
Jayden stared his friend down wishing there was something he could do to make Sebastian go mute and just listen to what he had to say. In the actual truth he knows he is in the wrong by shutting the head of the finance department up for telling what was needed to help the company. He just couldn’t explain the rage that surged through him when the man had used a word Jaylen had said to him that morning.
It was no good enough excuse, but Jayden loves to throw his weight around. Kissing his teeth, he sat back in the chair when he finally got a hold of his cigarette. Lighting the stick, he puffed into the air after a long drag and that soothed his nerves a bit.
“What’s eating you up?” Sebastian inquired in a soft tone.
Smiling lightly, Jayden stared at his friend with his eyes looking like they would close up. “You are like the only person who can read me from afar.”
“Cut to the chase Jayden!”
“I saw Jaylen this morning and seeing his face alone just ruined my day.” Jayden replied as he took another long drag of the cigarette.
“What did he do to you this time?”
“Bullshit! He talked about being courteous towards each other and responding to pleasantries. “I don’t fucking want nothing to do with him!”
Sebastian scoffed. “I can’t believe you threw a tantrum and got those poor people questioning themselves all because you couldn’t stand to keep your emotions at bay.”
“Don’t come here judging me, Seb.”
“Oh, is that what you think this is? Judging you? Look nobody is judging you brother, you make things go your way even when they shouldn’t. That’s not being powerful, that’s being absurd.”
“Don’t make it sound like I don’t know what I am doing. Since and before dad’s ailment I have gone far and beyond for the growth of this company and the Fortress at large. Don’t make it sound like I haven’t played my part!” Jayden gritted.
“No one is saying you haven’t done right and don’t try to switch the subject. Your approach towards people lower than you in class is inappropriate. You would be a leader soon so you should know how important being understanding and humble is!” Sebastian rubbed at his temple as he felt a dryness in his throat. He almost spat something else out when he still referred to Jayden as the leader. The thought of serving someone like Jayden who listens to no one but himself would have had him quit in the first place.
Jayden eyed him intensely. “Why the fuck are you here?”
“You think I want to be? Dad sent me down here, almost like he had foreseen you making a fool out of everyone and he didn’t want to be part of it.”
“I would never disrespect my uncle that way.” Jayden sounded sober.
“Easy for you to say.” Sebastian snorted. He was angry at how irresponsible Jayden is.
Jayden chuckled all of a sudden. “Sometimes you act like my mom in the bid of rebuking me. You should even your tone mister.”
Sebastian tried hard to not react or smile at his statement but he couldn’t help it. As annoying as Jayden was, you couldn’t get angry at him for too long.
“Did you hear about the Rogues beginning to showcase themselves?” Jayden inquired as he puffed smoke circles into the air.
“Yes, dad told me about it. What do you intend to do?”
“I was planning to hold a pack council meeting but after discussing it with dad though to know what he thinks. Then we can resolve a way to keep them out of Moon Stone Fortress.”
“Sounds like a plan.” Sebastian nodded.
Pulling at his tie, Jayden stood up and walked towards the window with the cigarette in his hand. Taking a soft drag, he stood still.
“Do you think there is a way I and Jaylen can be on good terms, since it’s obvious he isn’t my competition?” He asked.
Sebastian muttered under his breath. “You don’t know half of it.”
Jayden turned abruptly. “You don’t think so right?”
Sebastian shrugged. “Well there is really nothing wrong with you finding a neutral ground to be good to each other. You are brothers.”
Jayden hissed out. “I will think about that some other time. I am craving for some fresh air, let’s go tan our wolves by the river.”
Sebastian laughed lightly. “Tan our wolves? What does that even mean? Anyways only you should do that. There is so much work for us to look into and here you are craving for a picnic by the river.”
Jayden snorted as he sat back in his chair. “You are such a kill joy! I can’t believe I am stuck here with you when I could be resting while fucking a beautiful blonde.”
“You might like to resign from the pack duties then.” Sebastian wiggled his brow.
“Ah! Ah! Ah!” Jayden let out a sarcastic laugh before a deep frown creased his face. “That wasn’t funny.”
“I never said it was.” Sebastian replied.
Concentrating on the files in front of them, Sebastian hoped things wouldn’t turn up worse than bad as it is.
