EPISODE FORTY EIGHT
THEME: Start of something new
MOON STONE FORTRESS
AT THE CAMP
Jaylen slapped his forehead in frustration, he had been trying hard to teach Juno how to operate a war field lens he had ordered for her use just to prevent her eyes from burning out when sensitively used. Juno had tried to tell him their equipments were protective enough but he didn’t want to hear of it. So she had decided to intentionally make him miserable in the process of showing her how to use it.
He held her hands together again to show her how to handle it when he caught the crooked smile she had on her face.
“No. No. Let it not be what I am thinking Juno.” Jaylen mused, when he caught a hang of what she was doing. She smirked. He grabbed her by the waist, he flipped her onto his shoulder and smacked her back with his palm.
Juno laughed loudly as he turned her around. Jaylen hit her lightly on the back. “Put me down Jaylen! Come on!”
“Never! You should get punished for playing me!” Jaylen chuckled, still hitting on her back. “I can’t believe you made me come all the way here even though it was just an excuse to see you. You could have tried your very best to indulge my excesses.”
They were both getting weak with the laughter, however Jaylen was insistent on not letting her go. He felt extremely happy, being able to play around and laugh heartily with no restriction.
Lorelei’s eyes caught sight of two people looking like a couple, only that they weren’t a regular couple as the man who had someone over his shoulder was no other than Jaylen. Not thinking twice, she moved in determination towards them. It made her pissed even more after trying to walk around to relief the annoyance from the things Ron had said.
“Hmm. Hmmm.” Lorelei cleared her throat when she got to them.
Jaylen turned and he almost lost a foot when he saw her but he did really well to control his stance.
“Hey baby.” Jaylen muttered as he dropped Juno whose laughter had faded by then.
“Hi Lorelei.” Juno waved with a smile. But her smile dwindled when Lorelei had given her an unfriendly glare. Clearing her throat, she nodded towards Jaylen. “We would talk later. I should get back to work now and thanks for this.” She gestured towards the lens pack.
Lorelei’s vicious eyes stayed glued at Juno’s receding back. Jaylen didn’t understand why she acted so cold.
“Hey babe.” He whispered into her ear, swirling her to face him as he pulled her into him hold. “Why are you looking so angry?” He asked. When his lips tried to brush past hers, she tilted her head away from him.
“What exactly is your relationship with Juno?”
Jaylen raised a brow. “Is it that you don’t really know or it’s just your way of pulling my legs?”
“Just answer the question.” She pressed on.
“Baby, Juno is like a sister to me. I am sure you must have heard about her growing up in the pack house with Jayden and I. Such news spread easily around Moon Stone but it didn’t get to you?” He teased.
Lorelei folded her arms against her chest. “And I did hear just beyond the rumor that she is likely going to get married to you.”
Jaylen stared at her for a split second before he laughed heartily.
“And what’s funny?” She screwed up her face.
“Is someone getting paranoid and jealous?”
Lorelei heaved a sigh. “Whatever. You really can’t blame me.” She pouted.
Jaylen pulled her tightly to himself again. “Wow! I can’t believe I have someone who is so possessive of me.”
Lorelei slapped his chest as she giggled lightly. “Don’t get too ahead of yourself.”
“You can’t blame me.” He laughed. “You have nothing to worry about baby.”
“I should-”
He interrupted her. “I want you and no one else.”
A smile crept up on her face. “Promise?”
“Promise.” Jaylen chuckled as he nuzzled her neck. “Don’t tell me that was why you stormed down here.”
“You really wish.” Lorelei tried to hide her smile. “I only came here with Hermione to see her brother.”
“If that is the case then why are you out here?” He wiggled his brows.
Lorelei laughed. “I was walking around to…” She paused. “No I am not going to say what you intend to hear. I wasn’t keeping a tab on you.”
Jaylen nodded his head with a twinkle in his eyes. “I would try to believe you.”
“You are so silly!” She slapped his chest lightly.
“Want to eat?”
Almost as if in cue, her belly growled. “I definitely would want to eat. Those triplets only fed me with their banters.”
“Are they that troublesome?” Jaylen asked, seeming interested as he led the way to where he had packed his car.
“Is there a word bigger than troublesome? Those people can suck your whole being!.” Lorelei replied.
“Lorelei, Lorelei!” Hermione called out from behind, almost out of breath.
Staring back at her, Lorelei looked surprised as she ran to meet her half way. “What’s the matter Hermione?”
“I should be asking you.” Hermione responded panting lightly. “You just stormed out with no actual notice. I felt bad about it and it had me looking all around for you like a crazy one.”
“So sorry she made you go through that. Seems like she was looking for a certain someone.” Jaylen said with a hint of taunt in his tone. “How are you doing Hermione?”
Hermione nodded towards him. “I am well. Thank you.” She stared back at her friend and cocked her head. “I see you already have plans to leave here. I wouldn’t like to keep you.”
Lorelei winked. “You dare not.” She murmured.
“Bye Hermione!” Jaylen waved.
“Bye!” Hermione responded, sharing a look with Lorelei which is only known to them both.
“You amuse me every time baby.” Jaylen said to Lorelei when they got into the car.
“How?” Lorelei tried to act oblivious.
“I can’t believe you left your friend hanging just to come find me.”
“No! I was just walking around and I didn’t even know you were at the camp.”
Jaylen had a sly smile on his face when she looked at him. “I had only come out to head back home only to find you and Juno together.”
“Whatever you say.” He grinned widely.
Lorelei licked her lips at how good looking Jaylen was and how lucky she is to be the one he chose. Stretching out her hand, she pulled him by the collar and kissed him for a long minute.
“Yes.” Lorelei said as she released him.
“Yes to what?” He asked, still looking stunned.
“To being your girlfriend, isn’t that what you came to ask last night?”
Jaylen chuckled. “I was still trying to figure out if you felt the same way I feel towards you. But looking at it this way, I guess I would really love to be your boyfriend.”
They both laughed, leaning into each other to share another kiss. Jaylen couldn’t hide the smile that spread across his face. He hadn’t expected his admission to Lorelei the night before to turn out easy this way. But he wasn’t complaining either, he felt really good.
“Let’s go celebrate the start of something new.” He muttered, driving out of the garage onto the busy Fortress roads.
