EPISODE FORTY ONE
THEME: Lorelei’s secret
MOON STONE FORTRESS
AT A SAUNA
Hermione and Claire stared mouth agape as they sat in the sauna. It is Lorelei’s day off and they had all taken it upon themselves to have a girl’s day out.
Lorelei fake fanned herself for effect, she couldn’t sleep all through the night as the thoughts of Jaylen taking actual interest in her only made her feel butterflies in her belly. The both of them have been hanging out during her lunch breaks and spending long hours talking on phone while she runs her shift at work. She had held on to the gist from the friends to be certain she wasn’t exactly misunderstanding the gesture.
However, they had both shared a kiss the night before when he had offered to pick her from work. And she couldn’t wait to tell it to the girls and had dragged them down to the sauna instead.
“You don’t mean to say my brother confessed his feelings to you?” Claire inquired.
Blinking her eyes dramatically, Lorelei smiled. “Not exactly a confession, he just said I intrigued him.”
“I’m so jealous right now. You have both sons of the Alpha taking keen interest in you.” Hermione muttered, holding on to her head wrap.
“It just felt really nice.” Lorelei muttered.
“Jayden won’t like this.” Claire noted.
“Why should he?” Hermione frowned.
Lorelei imitated Hermione’s look. “I am not his property to toss around.”
Raising her hands up in surrender, Claire scoffed. “You don’t have to be that way I was only saying.”
“Sometimes I feel like Jayden becoming an alpha with that attitude of his would be problematic to everyone of us.” Hermione reasoned.
“As much as I don’t like my brother, I would love to cut you short at that. Jayden is obsessed with Moon Stone and would protect it with his last breath.” Claire defended, adjusting the towel she had on.
“Why exactly are we discussing Jayden right now?” Lorelei sounded bored.
The more Jayden’s name gets mentioned the more thoughts of the private moments they had shared that was unaware to her friends and her brother kept coming to mind. She had always fancied Jayden and that was a fact, but having to share a kiss and some smooching with him here and there had been a bit of a form of connection between them. Without being told, Lorelei understood what Claire was trying to say. Knowing how petty Jayden can be, she wouldn’t want to be another reason why Jayden would find a fault in Jaylen.
However, she felt more comfortable and at peace with Jaylen. Even though they have only known each other for a few days.
“Can’t believe you are so smitten by my brothers. Which one of them got you so preoccupied now?” Claire taunted.
Lorelei jolted out of her reverie and she glared at Claire. “Shut up!”
“Ah!” Hermione groaned. “I think I have had just about enough of this sauna. I would love to eat something good.”
“Is there a day you never have food?” Lorelei inquired.
“It’s not like there is any crime in it.” She defended.
Claire giggled. “To think that Hermione eats so much and still has no adequate flesh on her.”
Standing up, Hermione swiveled her body in front of her friends. “It’s called a sexy body, being an ectomorph is the most unique state in the world. You know nothing.”
Lorelei snorted and rolled her eyes. “It’s just an excuse for you to show off your gluttonic habit.”
“Whatever! Can we leave now?”
Claire jumped up almost immediately like she had been pricked by a needle. “For the first time in forever, I am supporting Hermione’s motion. I can’t stand this place any longer babies.”
“It’s not as if any of you were forced down here.” Lorelei glared at them. Indulging their complaints, she also stood up.
The three of them trooped out towards their lockers to get their bags. The first thing Lorelei checked when she got to her locker was her phone. When she had called Jaylen this morning, he had told her he was heading to the gym with Juno. Somehow, she didn’t feel too comfortable with it. But it wasn’t in her place to complain since he hadn’t asked her out yet. Still, she had been expecting to see him leave her a message or a missed call.
“Are you okay?” Claire asked Lorelei when she noticed the change in her countenance.
Lorelei faked a smile. “Yeah. I’m fine.” She replied.
Hermione stomped her feet as she whined. “Can we go now?”
“Yes! Yes!” Claire chanted, rolling her eyes.
Getting into each of their cars as they had arrived separately, they drove down to one of their favorite restaurants in the pack. . Hermione as expected had been the one to lead the way while the others tagged along.
Using her left hand to hold on to the steering, Lorelei dialed Jaylen. She tried to convince herself that he didn’t miss his way or something. Since he seems new around and hardly has anywhere to go.
He didn’t pick her call and her ego felt bruised. “Maybe I shouldn’t have called. I would seem desperate now.” She groaned, rubbing at her face.
Luckily the three of them found a parking space. The restaurant was always filled to the brim especially lunch hours when most workers are out to fill up before keeping up with the day’s work.
“Is this why you asked us to leave the sauna early?” Claire questioned Hermione as she pointed towards the almost empty parking space.
Hermione shrugged unrelenting. “You want to tell me it isn’t worth it?”
“Can you both stop talking!” Lorelei rebuked them. Anger was beginning to spread through her and she has no explanation for it yet.
Just as they moved towards the entrance, Lorelei almost lost her mind when she caught sight of Jaylen feeding Juno with what looks like some fries and the both of them seem to be having the best time of their lives.
“No one told me Jaylen and Juno had a thing going on.” Hermione noted.
Claire rolled her eyes at the duo. “Come on, it’s nothing serious. Jaylen and Juno have been this way since they were kids.”
“And what do you mean by that?” Lorelei’s voice was laced with anger.
Claire and Hermione shared a knowing look. They had almost forgotten she was behind them.
